[drakelist] .82 ohm res.
What does the BWH mean or stand for on the specs on the .82 ohm resistor. That is the one they are using for a fuse in the High Voltage on the L4-B or L7 power supply... DannyWA4SDE

Also, what type of cable do you use? and where do you get that? I would really appreciate any information in this regard. I have been only working CW and decided to try phone, when making a cable from a CEI Speech compresser to either a T4X or a TR4 became an awaking when I came to try and get a three wire 3/8 inch plug. I could not find one at Radio Shack. I did find one in my junk box but it is in poor shape and is extremely difficult to connect the wires to especially the shield, then the strain relief is for a much larger cable than I started to use. The cable I started using is a small dia cable not like the rubber cable you see on a microphne cord. Thank you very much WA2OVJ Karl Corder, Penfield, NY. [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I found it to be interesting and well written...We could use some more like it.Danny..WA4SDE - Original Message - From: "Floyd Sense" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "drake" Sent: Sunday, January 15, 2006 9:22 AM Subject: [drakelist] TR7 output problems resolved ! "Floyd Sense" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> made an utterance to the drakelist gang -- Thanks to several readers of this reflector, I've finally been able to resolve the low output problems on my TR7. I now have full output (111 watts, actually) on 10 meters with proper ALC action. For those interested, here's a link to a page where I've documented everything: http://k8ac.us/TR-7_Power_Output.html . If you have anything to add to the info, please forward it to me and I'll add it to my material as appropriate. 73, Floyd - K8AC Angier, North Carolina -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net -- -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

The L-4B came with 3-500Z tubes and chimneys. In addition the -B included measurement of SWR. The L-4/B had axial air-flow cooling. The L-7 was another construction, more like the SB-220, without chimneys, but with the fan blowing at the side of the tubes, radial air-flow. It was delivered standard with the 3-500Z tubes. I would think that the L-7 construction was the cheaper one compared with the L-4/B with their centrifugal blower and chimneys. The chimneys in the L-7 was probably added by someone who was mis-guided, believing that the chimneys was removed. The advantage of the L-7 over the L-4/B is the added 160 + WARC coverage. I'm not sure, but I think there is a difference between the chimneys for the 3-400 and 3-500 tubes. The 500s are slightly higher than the 400s, and the chimneys for the 500s don't have the tapering at the top, where the chimneys for the 500s are cylindrical. 73's de LA1CU Karl email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net -- -- Submissions:drakelist@www.zerobeat.net Unsubscribe:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - unsubscribe drakelist in body Hopelessly Lost:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - help in body of message Zerobeat Web Page: www.zerobeat.net - sponsored by www.tlchost.net --

Haven't dug into it yet, but wonder if this is a common problem in the TR7? Not likely a pot problem since it adjusts very smoothly down to the minimum, but just doesn't reduce the output to zero.
