Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000
Hello Bill. To me a Transmatch and an Aerial Tuning Unit are one and the same thing. I have an MN2000 and regard it as a really superb piece of equipment both physically and electrically. I would not refer to an MN2000. And an LDG in the same sentence!! Regards. John. Am I better off buying an antenna tunner? Thanks! All it really does is match the 50 ohm output impedence of your transmitter to the impedence it sees at the end of the coax. From the coax connector on, you still have all the SWR and heat loss due to dissapation. Good luck. I was reading through the manual last night and on Page 1-2 it says: 50 ohm coax with SWR of 5:1 or less. So I am going to tune the antenna somewhere in the middle so my SWR will be like 3:1 rather than try to tune almost 6:1. I dont want any sparks or arcing the the MN-2000 since its brand new :) 73 Bill K9BuB ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist ___ Drakelist mailing list Drakelist@zerobeat.net http://mailman.zerobeat.net/mailman/listinfo/drakelist

Rick, Please define transmatch and antenna tuner. 73, Eric KA8FAN - Original Message From: Bill [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: drakelist@zerobeat.net Sent: Sunday, August 31, 2008 3:21:31 PM Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000 Rick, So is there a difference betten the MN-2000 and lets say the LDG-1000PRO? [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000
Can the MN-2000 handle a 6:1 SWR ? My feedline is coax and the highest SWR on my Hustler 6BTV is on 80 meters. And I have a MN-2000 and if it cant handle it what do you folks suggest? Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000
Let me clarify. The antenna is tuned. I use it for MARS on 80 meters and that frequency is a 1.9:1 SWR but I would like to talk on my part of the band that my license allows and starting at 3.8Mhz my swr is 5.9:1 so I need a tuner. --- On Sat, 8/30/08, [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Drake MN-2000 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Date: Saturday, August 30, 2008, 6:34 PM In a message dated 8/30/2008 7:28:53 PM Eastern Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Can the MN-2000 handle a 6:1 SWR ?
