I've thrown together a quick and dirty two page website with a picture
and information about the W-4, WV-4, MN-4, and MN-2000 replacement
meters I'm offering.

Take a look: www.hamspec.us

You are welcome to place a link to it on your website if you wish.

Thanks!

Yep, that looks just like my WV-4. :) Nice work, Jim.

Regarding David's comment, I tweaked the brightness/contrast of your image
with an image editor and it looks pretty good. The detail is there, it just
could use a little adjusting.

Thanks for your comment, but the focus of the website is the meters, not
the W-4 and WV-4 Wattmeters they are installed in. Seems to me that the
meters themselves show up fine.

Besides, I'm not a professional photographer. The first several pictures
I took were so washed out from the flash that you couldn't read the
meter. I was lucky to get the one that's on the website.

Perhaps if you told me what detail you're concerned about I could answer
your question.

Electrically, these meters differ from the originals and require a shunt

It would be interesting to see how closely several different meter
movements track to each other with a selected value of fixed resistance
shunt. I have no idea of the manufacturing tolerances on these meters,
or whether the differences between individual samples would be worth
compensating for. The purist in me says use the precision trimpot and
calibrate each sample, but I'm just that way sometimes :)

Hello Jim... I have been working on the same thing... Currently, I

read the resistance of the shunt and see I if I can locate presision
resistors to replace the ten turn pot... I have 4 more of the 50uA
Morotola (MS24) meters on hand... 73's, Charlie...

Just a quick update regarding the replacement meters

I ran into a bit of a snafu in obtaining the correct parts for the
shunts needed for the new meters. That issue should be resolved in a few
days. I'll post another note once the parts are in hand.

I can tell you that I tested my prototype in a known good, calibrated
W-4 wattmeter and found that the replacement meter reads virtually the
same as the original Drake meter at the same power level. Any deviation
is well within the measuring tolerance (+/- 5%) of the
  W-4/WV-4/MN-4/MN-2000.
