Re: Where is the source for DRM 1.5?

To my knowledge, there is no global DRM version like this. Each driver has
an interface version number, but this number does not necessarily mark a
particular release of DRM.
Basically, if your X windows driver or the 3D client driver complains that
the DRM is too old, just upgrade to the latest version from your
distribution. You can do this by upgrading the kernel. If the
distribution's kernel is outdated, either compile your own kernel from
stock sources or, if you're feeling adventurous, get the DRM CVS (I would
link you to the download page on http://dri.sourceforge.net/ , but it
appears to be down right now).

Re: DRM and the drm_core model

2004-09-27 Thread Jon Smirl
I checked in what I think is a working version for the DRM core split.
It is in two directories drm/linux-core and drm/shared-core.

I accidentally stomped drm/shared during the check-in but I have fixed
it. I checked builds on linux-2.4, linux and linux-core.

I will be gone for about four hours but I will check mail when I get
back to see if there are problems.

I just finished building new packages with a CVS checkout from 26 Sep 2004, the
latest S3TC patches and the Eric Anholt's patch. The textures are still broken
on Descent3 and HeavyGear 2. I tested with a FireGL 8800 128MB, and a Diamond
9200 256MB.

Normally, the latest version of DRM distributed with linux kernel source
should be enough.
Why are you looking for 1.5 ? (Also note that different drivers have
different versions).

As should be obvious from my commit log, the RADEONSetFBLocation() call can't
just be removed. What might work instead is calling it in EnterVT() as well
(beware that it might cause trouble in the wrong place). Ideally, the contents
of those registers should also be restored when VT switching away from the
server and shutting down.
