[Dspace-tech] Arabic metadata/language

2008-06-24 Thread Valorie Hollister
Christina Richison & Adam Fethi -

I'm not sure if your requests about Arabic metadata/language is the
same query or not -- but both of you sent emails out recently.

I'm no expert, but I did a bit of digging in the LISTSERV archive --
you may have found these references in your own searches. There have
been a few questions previously about Arabic metadata/language.
Perhaps some of the individuals in the previous discussion threads
could be of some help to you.

metadata that you could share?

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

I want to use Dspace for a specific content and I have some questions:

§ Can Dspace be localized to Arabic language?

§ If language packs for Arabic language exists?

§ Can I use Lucene to index and analyse Arabic documents in Dspace

Thank you for helping me.

Re: [Dspace-tech] About DSpace and LDAP synchronization

2008-06-24 Thread Mark H. Wood
This is somewhere on my list of annoyances I'd like to find time to
correct. The first time I looked at the LDAP authentication plugin, I
asked myself why it bothers storing this stuff at all.

}flame on{
Directory-enabled applications should depend on the directory. The
only thing that DSpace really needs or ought to "know" about an
LDAP-authenticated EPerson is the DN. The EPerson class should ask
the directory for any other identity datum required of it.

[Dspace-tech] Links missing

2008-06-24 Thread Jeffrey Trimble

I've got an odd situation. On a test server, I've got
the browse indexes working, but the link in the browse screen is
missing, so you cannot click on anything to get to the item display.

I've never seen this before. Any ideas?

So heres the steps and what I see:

Click on a browse, for example "TItles"

The next screen shows the usual table of Issue Date Title and Author.
Nothing is hyperlinked.

Any suggestions?

TIA,

Re: [Dspace-tech] About DSpace and LDAP synchronization

2008-06-24 Thread Elliot Metsger

We overwrite the fields that are mastered by our ldap servers each time a
user logs in. Of course, the fields may become out of date over time if the
user never logs in again. You could write some code to query ldap and
manually synchronize the fields if that was a concern.

[Dspace-tech] About DSpace and LDAP synchronization

2008-06-24 Thread Rafael Henkin
Hi,

We've been using Dspace with LDAP for some time, but just
recently we noticed that we need to synchronize the fields, that is, if
someone changes their email outside Dspace, it won't be reflected in
Dspace.

Has anyone solved this issue?

Thanks,

[Dspace-tech] Tapping into user registration flow from my own aspect

2008-06-24 Thread Mark H. Wood
I need to add each newly-registered user to a default group, and since
we have a custom aspect I thought I should isolate the code there
rather than customizing EPerson.

Trouble is, eperson.js is passing relative URIs to sendPageAndWait(),
which evades my other-aspect code by only processing the URI through
the current (EPerson) sub-sitemap. Will Bad Things happen if I change
these to absolute paths, to send them through the complete sitemap tree?

[Dspace-tech] (no subject)

2008-06-24 Thread ARD Prasad
Hi,
I was experiencing a problem. Whenever I make an element with input-type
qualdrop_value and also use the tag, while submission workflow
it does not allow me to go the next page, showing the message that it is a
required field.

I vaguely remember this was the case prior to dspace-1.5. I changed the
following line in the file (Step 3)

dspace-api/src/main/java/org/dspace/submit/step/DescribeStep.java

DCValue[] values = item.getMetadata(inputs[i].getSchema(),
// inputs[i].getElement(), inputs[i].getQualifier(), Item.ANY);
   inputs[i].getElement(), Item.ANY, Item.ANY);

Things seem to working OK.

with best regards

You are hereby invited to RepoCamp in Washington DC on July 25th.

  http://barcamp.pbwiki.com/RepoCamp

RepoCamp is a one-day free and open event where folks who are
interested in managing and creating digital repository software and
their contents can gather and share ideas, innovations, trials and
tribulations, implement solutions...and have a drink or two
afterwards.

The event is co-sponsored by the JISC Common Repository Interfaces
Working Group [1] and the Library of Congress. The CRIG is doing some
really interesting outreach work into and outside of the digital
repository community. RepoCamp will mark the end of their "US tour"
[2], so you can expect at the very least to hear what they've learned
during their travels.

One of the key goals of the event is to practically explore what
repository interoperability means...and to hack on solutions. But the
space can definitely be used to explore other aspects of digital
repository work. If you use off the shelf software like Fedora,
DSpace, EPrints, Omeka, Drupal, etc. or write your own software for
depositing, managing, accessing digital content you will fit right in.

If you are interested in attending sign up on the wiki, and add your
ideas for the event. The invite/password to edit the pages is 'c4mp'.
