Re: [Dspace-tech] how to adding static page

2009-05-11 Thread Allen Lam
Hi Zollo,

Dspace's header, footer, etc comes from tag libraries.

You only need adding suitable tags to enclose your jsp file to attach
the default layouts.

Study the example of home.jsp that comes with dspace.

Pay particular attention to dspace:XXX.../dspace:XXX

You could write custom tags to customize the layout. If you are new to
custom tag library, here is a good reference:
http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/tutorial/TagLibrariesTOC.html

Hope it helps.

Allen.

Anyone has seen this already? any idea?

Re: [Dspace-tech] Zotero Embedded RDF issues with some DSpace instance

2009-05-11 Thread Andrea Bollini
Hi all,
I have included the zotero dev list in this thread so that we can get
some help from the main expert ;-)

Dear Zotero Developers,
we have a strange behaviour with some DSpace instance that include RDF
bibliography info in the XHTML Head section.
You can find a clean instance of the 1.5.2 DSpace with the RDF info at

http://dspace-testhaton.cilea.it/jspui/handle/123456789/60

some other pretty default installations of DSpace are available here

http://researchspace.auckland.ac.nz/handle/2292/3065
http://www.archenvimat.pz.cnr.it/handle/10122/365

In these last instances the import feature of Zotero works perfectly
using the embedded RDF, in the first one instead it seems that Zotero
doesn't see the RDF info and the standard import of the Web Page fails
without notice.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Andrea

PS: another strange behavior is about the list of items, where the
single item import works the item list are not importable in Zotero
where instead it doesn't work the import option is available, see
http://researchspace.auckland.ac.nz/browse?type=title (NO massive
import feature available)
http://dspace-testhaton.cilea.it/jspui/browse?type=title (massive import
feature available)

[Dspace-tech] Check that your DSpace instance can be indexed

2009-05-11 Thread Robert Tansley
All,

We're noticing that many DSpace instances still have misconfigured
robots.txt files which are preventing them from being indexed by search
engines.

In short -- please ensure that *NEITHER* of the following lines are present
in your robots.txt file at http://your.dspace.url/robots.txt:

Disallow: /browse
Disallow: /browse-date

If either line is present (as accidentally shipped with DSpace 1.5 and
1.5.1), search engines may be prevented from indexing any content in your
DSpace instance.

For more information on how to ensure your DSpace is indexed correctly,
including making use of Sitemap support, see:

http://wiki.dspace.org/index.php/Ensuring_your_instance_is_indexed

[Dspace-tech] diacritics browse by author

2009-05-11 Thread Sarah Ryder

Hi folks

I recently ran a batch import on an image collection of ours which has a
number of characters w/ accents, umlauts, etc. within the titles and
athors' names. Before I ran the batch import I did a search/replace on
all diacritics and replaced them w/ the appropriate html numbers (#224;
for example). This worked fine for the import and they all seem to
displaying correctly in the browser, but the problem now is in the browse
by author link. If an author has one of these characters in their name
and a user clicks on the name to retreive all works by this author, they
get the no entries in index error because the href value for that author
link is something like this: Ad%C3%A9la%C3%AF+de+Labille-Guiard. Does
anyone know if there is a better way to work w/ diacritics to avoid this
problem?

Thanks
