Re: [Dspace-tech] Handle Service (new server)
Hi, Susan. I would like to help, but I don't have any experience regenerating the sitbndl or incrementing the parameter. On my recent upgrade, we kept the same handle-server software and existing bundle and used it with DSpace 1.5.2. We didn't change servers or the IP address that the server uses, so I didn't have to touch the handle-server software, except the config files. [Dspace-tech] Join us in welcoming Jeffrey Trimble and Larry Stone as new committers
Dear all, It is with great pleasure that the DSpace committers group would like to announce two new additions to the group: Jeffrey Trimble and Larry Stone. Please join us in welcoming them! Jeffrey Trimble is currently the Systems Librarian at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio. His responsibilities range from tracing network cabling under the carpet to Unix administration on their various AIX/LINUX servers. He oversees the coordination of the local Integrated Library System (ILS) with the statewide OhioLINK system. Additionally, he has the primary responsibility for the three DSpace instances at the university, including RSpace, the repurposed DSpace software acting as an eReserve service for the library. In the DSpace community, Jeffrey has been instrumental in improving the DSpace documentation for release 1.6 as the Documentation Gardener. In an effort to weed and feed the documentation, he has tested various components and suggests changes and specifications when the components doesn't work as expected. Larry began contributing to DSpace in 2005, through work on several grant-sponsored research projects in the MIT Libraries' Technology RD group. Since May 2009 he has been working for Harvard University Library as the primary architect and developer of its open-access institutional repository, DASH (Digital Access to Scholarship at Harvard - http://dash.harvard.edu/). Much of his work with DSpace has been in the area of interoperability and external interfaces. He has wide and varied interests in software development, including a previous brush with digital libraries through a couple of Dienst implementations and the old NCSTRL (Networked Computer Science Technical Report Library) project. [Dspace-tech] Google Analytics and DSpace 1.5.2
First up, we're using 1.5.2, XMLUI interface. In about middle of June, we upgraded our system from 1.5.1 to 1.5.2. At the same time, our stats on Google Analytics dropped dramatically. There were a few other network things happening around this time, so I'm not convinced it is the upgrade, but The site is: www.territorystories.nt.gov.au Our Analytics code is installed properly, and Google Analytics itself can see it, and we are getting some stats. So my question is, has anyone come across this, or does anyone know if there is something in 1.5.2, different from 1.5.1, that could cause this behaviour? On 16/09/2009, at 7:20 AM, Greg Johnson wrote: The question I have is this: If we were to take a do-over and recreate DSpace from scratch, having copied our Postgres database prior the rebuild, would not the communities and collections that we currently have be transferrable to the new version? From my understanding, the assetstore has all the resource objects, such as pdf files, and the database has all the tracking objects, such as metadata and access control and in there are the ideas of communities and collections. Look for the file db-schema.gif in the DSpace source distribution for a layout of the database contents. If you don't have a root cause explanation for the unexpected behaviour, the `do-over' and recreate may carry the problem over. Another way would be to clone the broken system, experiment and address the fault there and then fix the actual system. Best wishes, Van Ly vly at usyd dot edu dot au -- Come build with us!
