Re: [Dspace-tech] Strange build behaviour

2012-06-21 Thread DSpace @ Lyncode
Hi,

that could happen if you are running mvn package at the wrong directory,
more properly at the [DSPACE-SOURCE]/dspace/. Using the dspace 1.8.2 source
version, mvn package must be called from the root directory, that
is, [DSPACE-SOURCE]/.

Hello Alain

If you have an ebook app on your tablet you can save it from Dspace to your
e-books and it displays perfectly. I tested one that I downloaded from Unisa
Institutional Repository (http://uir.unisa.ac.za) to my Samsung Galaxy tablet
and opened with the ebook reader. I can even turn the pages like a real book!

Hello,
Is there any way to display .epub documents in DSpace? I added the mimetype to

Thank you for your help.

Hi,

I'm trying to enable sword v2 on Dspace 1.8.2 but can't get it to work.

I've configured dspace/config/modules/swordv2-server.cfg, defined a context
path to the directory in tomcat/conf/server.xml and ensured all of the files
are in the right place but the service document won't come up.

All I get when looking for the service document is a 'Not found' error on the
page.

Sword v1 works fine though.

Has anyone enabled sword v2 on their dspace install? If so, could you tell me
how you did it please?

Thanks

Ian

Re: [Dspace-tech] Enabling Sword 2 with Dspace

2012-06-21 Thread Wellaway, Ian
Yes of course.

To enable Sword v2, in Dspace 1.8 we did the following:

1) Defined an extra context path in /opt/tomcat/conf/server.xml

!-- DEFINE A CONTEXT PATH FOR DSpace swordv2 --
Context path=/swordv2 docBase=/opt/dspace/webapps/swordv2 debug=1
reloadable=true cachingAllowed=false
allowLinking=true/

2) Amended the swordv2-server.cfg file in /opt/dspace/config/modules

#---#
#SWORD 2.0 SERVER CONFIGURATIONS#
#---#
# These configs are only used by the SWORD Server interface,#
# version 2.0 (used by DSpace to accept ingest packages via #
# SWORD 2.0 protocol) #
#---#

# the base url of the sword 2.0 system
#
# the default if {dspace.url}/swordv2
#
#url = http://www.myu.ac.uk/swordv2
url = http://vmerdmsdspace01.ex.ac.uk/swordv2

# The base URL of the SWORD collection. This is the URL from
# which DSpace will construct the deposit location urls for
# collections.
#
# The default is {dspace.url}/swordv2/collection
#
# In the event that you are not deploying DSpace as the ROOT
# application in the servlet container, this will generate
# incorrect URLs, and you should override the functionality
# by specifying in full as below:
#
# collection.url = http://www.myu.ac.uk/swordv2/collection
collection.url = http://vmerdmsdspace01.ex.ac.uk/swordv2/collection

# The base URL of the SWORD service document. This is the
# URL from which DSpace will construct the service document
# location urls for the site, and for individual collections
#
# The default is {dspace.url}/swordv2/servicedocument
#
# In the event that you are not deploying DSpace as the ROOT
# application in the servlet container, this will generate
# incorrect URLs, and you should override the functionality
# by specifying in full as below:
#
# servicedocument.url = http://www.myu.ac.uk/swordv2/servicedocument
servicedocument.url = http://vmerdmsdspace01.ex.ac.uk/swordv2/servicedocument

AND what I had omitted to do was:

3) Add a proxy setting to /etc/httpd/conf/hosts/rdms.conf (see the swordv2 code
lines at the bottom of this following):

[root@vmerdmsdspace01 httpd]# cat /etc/httpd/conf/hosts/rdms.conf

VirtualHost *:80

Include conf/hosts/rdms.inc

ProxyPassReverse /sword ajp://localhost:8009/sword

ProxyPassReverse /swordv2 ajp://localhost:8009/swordv2

Hope this helps.

2012-06-21 Thread Tim Donohue
As Lyncode implies, as of DSpace 1.8.x there are now two build options:

1. Running Maven from [dspace-source] (root directory) rebuilds *everything*
2. Running Maven from [dspace-source]/dspace/ (dspace subdirectory) only
reapplies recompiles Maven Overlays (i.e. it only compiles code in

These two possible build options are described in more detail in the

That could be coming from two places. Either the initial bind fails,
which you said should be anonymous, so I left out ldap.search.user and
ldap.search.password, or the search fails, which means some of the
search parameters are wrong.

I am studying Stuart Lewis Blog regarding this. There somebody has mentioned
 that anonymous binding needs ldap_user_filter=uid=%USERNAME%.

According to what you sent, your LDAP schema uses cn, not uid. Well,
maybe you have an uid attribute, too. Just make sure that cn is
indexed (so that it can be searched on). If it doesn't work, send us
what user attributes look like.

Moreover, there's no configuration option ldap_user_filter. But
ldap.id_field is used this way as search filter.

SUPPORTED=es_CO.UTF-8:es_CO:es

2) In Tomcat.

I added in [TOMCAT]/conf/server.xml next labels in connector port:
useBodyEncodingForURI=true
URIEncoding=UTF-8

Also, I added in [TOMCAT]/bin/catalina.sh next lines:
export CATALINA_OPTS=-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8
export JAVA_OPTS=-Dfile.encoding=UTF-8

I uncomment tags in [TOMCAT]/conf/web.xml with class
org.apache.catalina.filters.SetCharacterEncodingFilter.

3) In Oracle Database.

When I create a new community or collection, the database store data with
special characters, for example words with accents in Spanish language,
(colección, especialización, prácticas) but the web browser (all of them)
display other characters (coleccin, especializacin, prcticas )

Does anyone else know another option I should enable or add?

As Lyncode implies, as of DSpace 1.8.x there are now two build options:

 1. Running Maven from [dspace-source] (root directory) rebuilds
*everything* 2. Running Maven from [dspace-source]/dspace/ (dspace
subdirectory) only reapplies recompiles Maven Overlays (i.e. it only
 compiles code in [dspace-source]/dspace/modules/ subdirectories)

These two possible build options are described in more detail in the
 Documentation at:
 https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC18/Advanced+Customisation

[Dspace-tech] Sword V2 403 error

2012-06-21 Thread Ben Ryan
Hi,
I am changing to use Sword V2 and have attempted to upload a ZIP using the
following command
CURL

E:\dev\utils\curl-7.23.1-win64\curl -i --data-binary @example.zip -H
Content-Disposition: filename=myDSpaceMETSItem.zip -H Content-Type:
application/zip -H X-Packaging:

X-Verbose: true
http://ben.ryan%40hotmail.co.uk:@localhost:8080/swordv2/collection/123456789/634

This gives a 403 error

Output

HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden
Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
Content-Type: text/html;charset=utf-8
Content-Length: 964
Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2012 05:58:12 GMT

The config is listed below, all I have chnaged is the upload temp dir, do I
need to do any other config or is this a Tomcat issue?

[Dspace-tech] OAI harvest not processing dc.identifier.uri correctly

The dc.identifier.uri field appears in the record.

When I view the item in the full view it shows the field as
dc.identifier.urihttp://humbox.ac.uk/id/eprint/9
However when I view the METS metadat (using
http://localhost:8080/xmlui/metadata/handle/123456789/4216/mets.xml) it shows
the field as
  dim:field element=identifier.uri mdschema=dc

  /dim:field

In the database the metadat field is recorded in the metadatavalue table
with a metadata_field_id of 72 and the entry in the metadatafieldregistry table
shows the element name as identifier.uri as the field is unknown and I
currently have harvester.unknownfield set to add.

Can anybody point me to where I look to see why DSpace is not recognising
the field (is it because of pattern matching for handles?

  Ben
