Hi,

looks like you're having the same issue as others have reported on
dspace-tech and dspace-general over the last 48 hours. This is what
Tim Donohue responded to others with the same issue:

It looks like we have a typo in our Upgrade instructions. Apologies.

When upgrading, the "mvn -U clean package" command MUST be run from the
[dspace-source] directory (NOT from [dspace-source]/dspace/).

Hi Carlos,

It looks like we have a typo in our Upgrade instructions. Apologies.

When upgrading, the "mvn -U clean package" command MUST be run from the

Running the command from [dspace-source] ensures that *all* DSpace

Actually, I've always ran with collection strengths enabled, so I'm
not sure if those numbers next to items come from strengths or not. My
bet is that they do not come from collection strengths (which doesn't
have this information, AFAICT), but from Discovery - in which case you
can't turn them off, but you could modify your theme not to display
them if you insist.

Great, make sure to comment in Jira that it worked for you. The reason
why the fix is not part of DSpace yet is that it hasn't had anyone to
confirm that it works yet! Then it could be part of DSpace 4.1.
Thanks.

Re: [Dspace-tech] [Dspace-devel] DSpace 4.0 released!

2013-12-17 Thread Tim Donohue
Hello DSpace Commmunity,

One additional enhancement which we realized we accidentally left off
the (long) list of 4.0 features/improvements:

* Several improvements which help Google Scholar (and other search
engines) to better index your DSpace content and make it more findable.
These improvements were requested by the Google Scholar team.

More information on these specific Google Scholar improvements is now
available in the 4.0 Release Notes (look for the Google Scholar logo):
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Release+Notes

Congrats to everyone on this major release! It is amazing how many new
features, improvements and bug fixes were included. We have our highly
active community to thank, as well as our dedicated Committer team!

- Tim

Re: [Dspace-tech] (no subject)

2013-12-17 Thread Diwakar Timilsina
Actually, I think there is a bug where the subject/author count always shows
total count instead of just within the collection/community. That's why I had
to disable the strengths feature in the first place.

https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1597

There is a fix given for the bug which I tried out and it's giving the correct
count.

But this is a new bug as the count appears for authors/subjects even after
disabling strengths.

Thanks.

Yes, I tried setting both webui.strengths.show and webui.strengths.cache to
false. I also cleared cocoon cache again and ran index-update. I then restarted
DSpace but I still get the count next to author names and subjects. However,
the count does not appear next to Collections and Communities. It's really
strange. Isn't the strength option supposed to only display count for
collections and communities? Why is showing for Authors and Subjects?

Again, thanks for your response.

Did you turn off both webui.strengths.show and webui.strengths.cache
and restart DSpace? Off the top of my head, I would think clearing the
Cocoon cache should help, but if it doesn't try running index-update.

[Dspace-tech] Collections in search results

2013-12-17 Thread Bill Tantzen
Hi all!

This may be a simple configuration problem, but I have not been able to
find the solution in the docs...

In DSpace 3.2, using Discovery, how do I make the Collection Hits
consistently appear before Item Hits? Right now, it seems as if sometimes
they do, and sometimes they don't and I'm not sure why. In either case,
the query passed to solr looks the same...

Any ideas?

[Dspace-tech] OAI harvest problem

Hello,
We're running DSpace 3.2, xmlui and a modified Reference theme.

When I harvest items from our main DSpace repository to a second DSpace
repository, the forward slash (/) in the bitstream URL is encoded as "%2F".

http://:8080/xmlui/bitstream/123456789%2F29438/1/bitstream

Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

Thank you.

CINECA. I see that in 'Administration->CRIS Module->Researcher Page' I
can specify the metadata that compose the researcher (specifying the
name of the metadata import / export in the 'Shortname' field).

My question is: how can I import new researchers by XML? What structure
of researcher import? Can you give me an example of some structure to
import? Is there any script that allows to import, as the one offered in
DSpace (folder 'bin') or I have to develop?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Daniel

Re: [Dspace-tech] Authentication in DSapce 3.2

2013-12-17 Thread Bram Luyten
Hi Shazia,

there is an overview here:
https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Functional+Overview#FunctionalOverview-UserManagement

We're aware that the docs can be improved here. We welcome all your
suggestions here:
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-880

Or if anyone wants to take a stab at this, always welcome.

To answer your question, had to look this up:
after you create a user as an admin, you can not set a password and the
user doesn't receive an email.
To trigger an email to the user, allowing him/her to set the password, you
need to go through the forgot password dialog.

To me this does not seem like the behaviour you would expect for the
usecase where you as an admin would register another user. I filed a bug
report for this here:
https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1843

cheers,

Bram
