Re: [Dspace-tech] Forget Admin password
Hi, I had this problem too. I don't know if it is a standard way... I am new in dspace. You could fix doing: 1) Connect to the dspace DB schema. 2) Find the table eperson. The password is in the column *password *stored in an encoded (SHA-512) way with column *salt *value . 3) Find a SHA-512 with salt converter (online or not is the same) 4) From a new password and salt value you can obtain a new password SHA-512 value. 5) Edit the password corresponding to your user account with that obtained at 4 6) Try to login from dspace portal with the new password. However in the asset store the filename is stored as just a long list of numbers. (Not really useful) Is there a way to control the output location of the data? E.g. Keep original file names, specify directory structure of documents, place data according to policies set? Hi Anthony, Please, don't cross-post a single question to multiple lists. Choose one that is appropriate and only try another one if you don't receive an answer in about a week. See the etiquette link below. There is no way to control the bitstream filenames. However, you can look up the original names in the database. In the bitstream table, the value in the “internal_id column corresponds to the filename in assetstore. The original filename is in the name column. Moreover, because a large number of files ina single directory can cause performance problems on most filesystems, the assesstore is divided up by the first few characters of the filename. So dor example all filenames starting with 123456 would be stored in the [assetstore]/12/34/56/ directory. That's really all there is to it. There are no hard limitations that you should worry about. However, the performance (search performace, most importantly will decrease with number of items, of course. There are repositories in the order of millions of items working just fine. If you hit scalability problems, there are ways to improve performace, primarily by separating the individual components (Solr, Postgres, Tomcat and possibly others) to multiple servers. If that is not enough, you can scale Solr horizontally (same with Postgres, though that shouldn't become a problem). Re: [Dspace-tech] Syncronize two DSpace instances
Right, you could use OAI-PMH harvesting, however you would probably need to set up harvesting for each collection individually. This should detect only changed items. If you prefer a programming approach, there are event dispatchers (senders) and consumers (receivers). For example, there is a consumer which listens to the event of a newly created item and will add it to the index. There is also a consumer that will delete an item from the index when it's deleted from the archive, too. You could write some custom code which listens to these events in one repository and communicates the changes to the other repository. This might actually have some interesting use cases, so if you decide to work on this, do let us know! If you don't need real-time synchronization, AIP export/import should do. You could also consider combining the listener approach with export/import of AIP packages for single items, that should save you a lot of work on the import/export code. I'll assume you want a searchable repository of items stored and maintained somewhere else. You want to avoid copying the items because want to keep them in sync - changes should be made only to the source repository. It's logical that if you want a searchable repository, you do have to copy all the metadata. It doesn’t currently support OAI-PMH. The direction I was leaning was running a nightly batch to update DSpace with the new items, as we have an nightly export script for the application that DSpace should be replacing that grabs all changed records already, so adapting that script to do, say, a SWORD deposit into DSpace seemed to be the easiest solution to me. Well, it did, until I couldn’t figure out how to do metadata only… Shawn Even easier for you will be to prepare a .csv export in the DSpace format. On Windows, paths should use *forward slashes* (/), as noted in our installation instructions: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Installing+DSpace#InstallingDSpace-WindowsInstallation So, you'd want to use D:/Dspace/dspace/bin. [Dspace-tech] legacy statistics shown in jspui but not in xmlui
Hi all, I'm confused about the statistics module in Dspace. We are currently running Dspace 1.8.3, but have not yet migrated to SOLR. So, we are still running the legacy stats module. I am referring to the statistics that are access through the admin menu. Crontabs are set up and the jspui shows the statistics (monthly and general). When I switch to xmlui, the page reports 'No reports currently available'. It is not clear to me whether this is a jspui function only or that it is supposed to work on xmlui as well. On demo.dspace.org the XML UI reports the statistics, so presumably it should work. As to the new SOLR statistics, do they also generate the kind of overviews that are reported in the legacy stats? Currently I get community, collection and item stats from the respective pages, but no stats from the admin menu. best regards, Francis Brouns Deze e-mail is uitsluitend bestemd voor de geadresseerde(n).
