[Dspace-tech] Dspace 4.0 Statistics Top Country Visit

2014-03-19 Thread pohquanwei
Hi,

I have installed Dspace 4.0 successfully. Everything is working fine except
on small problem. For the statistics at each collection, Top Country Views
and Top Cities Views do not show the data.

I have installed GeoLiteCity.dat successfully. I have even updated it to the
latest version. However, Top Country Views and Top Cities Views still do not
show up the data.

Please advise if there is anything I need to configure to make it work.
Thanks.

[Dspace-tech] Organise item's files

2014-03-19 Thread Тутукин Андрей Владимирович
Hi, All,

Suppose one item has MANY files, one or two of them are of the primary
importance, others are of the secondary or tertiary importance (e.g.
professional and non-professional reviews of the primary content).

I need to organize these files in bundles and show each group when user
requests it.

«Bundle» category in DSpace seems the correct thing to use, however
there is (AFAIK) no user interface to add new bundle names, nor there
are means to associate a file with a bundle at the «download file» step.

Questions:

1. Is it a good practice to add new bundle names?

2. I'll have to write my own version of the
org.dspace.submit.step.UploadStep to allow the selection of the bundle,
correct?

Finally I'll have to tune the theme, but it's not a question %-)

3. Am I missing anything?

Thank you!
Andrei.

PS. DSpace 3.2.

Well, not exactly a good practice, since it is unusual, but we do that
sometimes, when business requirements dictate so.

Yes, right

ja, ja

I would check the behaviour of package exporters, media extractors,
checksum calculator and statistics (not an small list and probably i
missed something)

Thanks and best luck

[Dspace-tech] Submission step question

2014-03-19 Thread Bill Tantzen
DSpace 4.1, XMLUI

Is it possible to make a submission step (for example the access and
upload with embargo steps) available only to a specific role or
eperson? For instance, is it possible for a collection admin to add
an item embargo during a workflow step, while hiding those fields from
a submitter?

>From the docs, I don't see a way to do it, but I'd like some
verification -- or a solution if there is one!

[Dspace-tech] Can't see items after restoring data - DSpace 4.0

2014-03-19 Thread gaia0611
Greetings:

I've restored the data from the backup I made of DSpace 1.8 after upgrading
the schema. First from 1.8 to 3 and then from 3 to 4, since it was necessary
to make the installation of DSpace from scratch (version 4.0) in a different
server.

However not all the items are displayed in the new DSpace. I wonder what
could possibly happen? and how can I fix this?

The server where the DSpace 1.8 was running isn't available anymore, so I
can't check or finish the upgrading process of that version. I've done
everything according to the guide to avoid mistakes, so I'm very confused on
what went wrong (all the data from DSpace 1.8 is in DSpace 4.0), also I made
sure not touch anything I shouldn't have. I moved everything exactly as it
was on DSpace 1.8.

Thanks for your help

[Dspace-tech] Persisting handles for a community, after that community moves elsewhere

2014-03-19 Thread Pottinger, Hardy J.
Hi, I'm just trying to ensure I have a solution on hand, should this
situation ever come up. Say an entire community wanted to move their
content elsewhere. Moving content is not particularly difficult, you've
got bitstreams and metadata, package it all up and move it. However, there
are handles that have been minted, and the deal with handles is they are
forever, right? So, the general idea is, we'd have to redirect for certain
handles. I'm pretty sure we could intercept these handles via an apache
module, or even Tuckey [1], but I'm also wondering if there might be a
software solution within DSpace itself... and that thought makes me think
that, possibly, someone else has already crossed this bridge, and might
have some advice, sample code, a box of tissues I can borrow. :-\ Thanks!

[Dspace-tech] Broken link for Creative Commons license.

2014-03-19 Thread Bill Tantzen
DSpace 4.1, XMLUI

I have enabled the creative commons step for a collection. Everything
seems to be working fine on submission. But when I view the full
record, in the "Files in this item" section and in the sub-section
entitled "The following license files are associated with this item",
the Creative Commons link refers to the page it is on instead of the
license bitstream. ( e.g. /handle/11299/12345?show=full ).

Is this a mis-configuration on my part, or bug?

Thanks for any hints!
Bill

[Dspace-tech] OAI Collection harvesting log

2014-03-19 Thread Calloni, Rodrigo
Hello everyone

We are in DSpace 3.2 using XMLUI.

We use this DSpace to harvest data from other DSpace via OAI. I would like to

I see that transactions made by the harvester are in fact recorded as by being

[Dspace-tech] temporarily stop submissions in Dspace 1.8.2

2014-03-19 Thread James Holobetz
Hi All,

Some may recall that I have posted here earlier discussing OAI harvesting and
upgrading from 1.8.2 -> 3.x -> 4.x
We made a decision to do the upgrades first before dealing with the OAI
harvesting issue (which shouldn't be much of an issue once we upgrade and
configure properly).

We have decided to copy an image of our production server to a VM, do the
necessary upgrades and then put it into production.

My question: is there a way to prevent current users on the production system
from entering new submissions for an indefinite time period while we upgrade
the new 'offline' system until it is ready to be put into production (at which
time we will phase out the old server)?

Best regards,

[Dspace-tech] User Registration dspace 3.0

2014-03-19 Thread Stephano John
Dear all,

We have been using dspace 3.0 for almost one year everything was working
okay, recently we have encountered a user registration problem "unable to
sent mail to this user" we have not made any of the changes in the system.
we are using smtp.gmail.com for outgoing mail

Is there any possibility of manually registering users in dspace? by any
chance are there any changes google has made on using smtp.gmail.com?

regards
stephano
