because I'm still trying to adjust to our needs DSpace but there are things
that cost me a lot, now I have a problem with the statistics in this report
that attached the link, I get results the last 7 months, but require me to
visualize the past 12 months as I configure this?

Re: [Dspace-tech] Shibboleth help

2014-06-16 Thread Tim Donohue
Teo,

Enabling Shibboleth requires that you run DSpace behind an Apache
webserver (with mod_shib installed into Apache). There's more details
on how to get this all setup in the Documentation at:

https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC4x/Authentication+Plugins#AuthenticationPlugins-ShibbolethAuthentication

The docs also include how to setup/configure mod_shib, etc.

 Can anyone give me some direction how to install the module mob_shib.
 Do I have to enable this module through Tomcat or I have to install
 another Apache webserver? I am using Tomcat 7.0.53.

[Dspace-tech] item strengh solr query

2014-06-16 Thread Bill Tantzen
In DSpace 4.1, xmlui, when viewing a community page I am seeing a solr
query executing a large number of times:

facet=truefacet.mincount=1facet.offset=0wt=javabinf.location.comm.facet.sort=countversion=2rows=0start=0q=*:*f.location.coll.facet.limit=-1f.location.comm.facet.limit=-1facet.field=location.commfacet.field=location.collf.location.coll.facet.sort=countfq=NOT(withdrawn:true)fq=NOT(discoverable:false)fq=search.resourcetype:2fq=NOT(discoverable:false)

I am guessing this query determines the item strengths for the sub
communities, but I don't understand why it is repeated (and repeated
so many times).

We have 1 top level community, 132 sub communities, and 631
collections. At the top level, this query is called 232 times, and
the page load is slow compared to others. Can anybody explain how
this query is used, and why it is called so many times?

Thanks much,
Bill

[Dspace-tech] Ways to enhance discovery/submission - glossary of metadata terms?

2014-06-16 Thread Charlene Chinda Barina
Hi,

We're looking at ways to improve faceted browsing and submission of items
into our repository.

Our submission process has a variety of metadata fields with specific
terms, e.g.,

   1. Program Management:
   If your item relates to program management, select one or more tags to
   describe your item.AdvocacyBudgetingCommunity Needs AssessmentsCurriculum
   DevelopmentFundraisingHuman ResourcesOutreach and MarketingPartnership
   BuildingProgram DesignStaff DevelopmentStrategic PlanningVolunteer
   Management

Is there any way to link to, say, a glossary of what those terms may mean?
Or is there another way we could include information so that a user could
look up the meaning of a term and decide if their submission fits that
topic?

I know that in the input-forms.xml file we could have a longer display with
the explanation as part of the item, like so:

   pair
 displayed-valueAdvocacy - tools to develop press releases,
talking points, etc./displayed-value
 stored-valueAdvocacy/stored-value
 /pair

But that compromises the readability of options when you're having them
submit items.

Any suggestions or ideas to accomplish this are very welcome.

Thanks,
Charlene

Re: [Dspace-tech] Ways to enhance discovery/submission - glossary of metadata terms?

2014-06-16 Thread Terry Brady
Each of the input fields has a unique id on them, so I have found it fairly
easy to use jQuery bind custom code to item submission widgets when present.

If you have a fairly stable list of values that are assigned, you might be
able to solve your issue with some javascript.

jQuery(document).ready(function(){
   if (jQuery(#aspect_submission_StepTransformer_field_your_field).is(*))
{
jQuery(input:checkbox[name=your_field]).each(function(){
find the label element for the checkbox
add a tooltip OR
wrap the label with an anchor tag and set the href based on the checkbox
value
});
 }
});

Re: [Dspace-tech] XPDF Thumbnail Preview issue

Hi Christian,

I wrote the following option in last post but Poppler's version of pdftoppm
seems
to make a varying length of sequence by the page number of the original pdf.
This problem already has been fixed from the DSpace version 3.0. You can
see
this fix at the following url.

Sorry I have checked only DSpace 1.8.2 and not the current version.
