We needed to go back to the handle service and make config.dct changes and

Hi All,
The next tangle for us is the handle service for this new server.
I see that in dspace 1.5.2 the jar is named differently than I used on the
server containing 1.5.1

Dspace\lib

Has handle-5.3.4.jar instead of handle.jar

Are they the same?

Are those two different environment variables that are on the same
line, or has your system somehow put them together?

It looks like your JAVA_HOME or JAVA_OPTS is upsetting the dsrun.bat
script. You have a couple of options, either hardwire the full path to
your java executable and explicitely set JAVA_OPTS in dsrun.bat so
that is doesn't use the environment variable, or remove the
JAVA_HOME / JAVA_OPTS options from your environment variable and put
them in the startup script of whatever Java application it is that
needs it. Unless you know what is making use of those options, it
might be safer to do the first of these.

Thanks,

With dsrun you have to provide the complete java class name:

dsrun org.dspace.administer.CreateAdministrator

This will get easier with 1.6, as we are including a new script
launcher called 'dspace' which works for Windows as well as Unix. So
you'll be able to run [dspace]/bin/dspace XXX (where XXX = any of the
commands such as create-administrator, filter-media etc)

> Also why would I start in E:\dspace\bin and then be back in E:\dspace

dspace.bat changes directory part way through execution to be in the
[dspace] directory so it can more easily access the files it wants. It
should change back to the original directory (see the last line of
dspace.bat: "chdir /D %CURRENT_DIR%") but I'm not sure why this failed
- perhaps because the Java command failed?

Thanks,

It is certainly A clue. CONNECT is new in, I believe, 8.1. The owner has it
by default. I've not seen this message before, but I take it to mean that the
connection request got through the firewall (if any), passed a test in
pg_hba.conf, and banged into the ACL on the database.

My limited experience with Pg ACLs is reminding me that an empty ACL invokes
the default permissions, but as soon as you change something, the unaffected
defaults are combined with that change and the result is used to form the ACL.
So a nonempty ACL with no terms probably means no access by anyone. I would
try clearing that "{}" ACL and see what happens.

Re: [Dspace-tech] FW: help windows installation

2009-11-11 Thread Kantargis, Susan
It doesn't look like the problem is there. In the error message it says "User
does not have CONNECT privilege". Could that be the clue?

Postgres- does have Login Roles "dspace" user and the database is owned by
"dspace"
They look the same on both old and new servers. One little thing... database
properties the property "ACL" on the new server (with dspace 1.5.2) has {}
and the older server (with dspace 1.5.1) it is blank. Both have privileges at
public.

DSpace.cfg looks good too.

# Database settings #

# Database name ("oracle", or "postgres")
#db.name = postgres
db.name = postgres
#db.name = oracle

# URL for connecting to database
#db.url = jdbc:postgresql://dspacedb.snhu.edu:5432/dspace
db.url = jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/dspace

# JDBC Driver

Hi Susan,

Check these points:

Find in dspace.cfg, what username you are using to login to postgres?
Open pgAdminIII (provided by postgres) and check the Login Roles. Can
you find the username?
In pgAdminIII also check the properties of the "dspace" database. Who is
the owner?

Fix any conflicts that you discover.

Best,
Allen Lam.

[Dspace-tech] Handle Service (new server)

2009-09-21 Thread Kantargis, Susan
Hi Stuart and Stacy,
We are moving to a new server and now I'm working on the handle server.

I'm looking for instructions for migrating to another server and the handle
system.

The sitbndl was recreated during the process this parameter was incremented to
2.

Each handle site has a version/serial number assigned
to it. This is so that a client can tell if a particular
site's configuration has changed since the last time it
accessed a server in the site. Every time you modify a site
(by changing an IP address, port, or adding a server, etc),
you should increment the version/serial number for that site.

Enter the version/serial number of this site [1]: 2

After updating the config files etc. The service will not start.
How are multiple servers handled? Or Upgrades?

But on another PC the network connection was not detected. She is using a new

What sort of driver do you need? On most machines the live CD 'just works' and

Hi Folks,

We have a testbed with 1.5.1 and will be installing on a new server with 1.5.2.
Will this be a problem for me as well?

Today I'm wondering how the Manakin message.txt is generated. Some changes
need to be made on the AdvancedSearch. The drop down on the advance search

It looks to me that you have an invalid Unicode character in your License file.
Look for a right single quotation mark (It'll probably look more fancy than a
standard quotation ')

XML cannot parse certain characters so you may need to use a standard quotation
or use a different XML character entity (’).

There are lots of websites that provide Unicode conversion values but this is
the one I looked at:
http://www.oasis-open.org/docbook/specs/wd-docbook-xmlcharent-0.3.html.

I hope this makes sense?

2009-06-16 Thread Kantargis, Susan
Hello,
I'm working on a new installation of DSpace 1.5.1, XMLUI (on windows server
with PostgreSQL, Tomcat).

I'm customizing input-submission.xml and skipping the initial-questions form
. What needs to be done to make set the values of these check boxes
-'multiple titles' or 'The item has more than one title '
-'The item has been published or publicly distributed before'

And continue with the input-forms?(I want to have title.alternative,
date.issued, publisher, identifier.citation on the input form.

Thanks,
Sue
