Peter, Evans here, I think this would be the FIRST GENERATION of the dstar data stuff, it's a white box that can be mounted outside on a tower or inside, but does not come with an RP2C. RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Voice out on a data only TX
what is happening is when the repeater talks back your catching repeater jibber jabber. It happens alot to me here on our local system, not all the time, but 10 % of the time. Evans _ From: dstar_digital@yahoogroups.com [mailto:dstar_digi...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of oz1bzj Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 4:32 PM To: dstar_digital@yahoogroups.com Subject: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Voice out on a data only TX Hi This might in the past have been covered before, but it is Christmas soon so pleas be tolerant if so :-) On the Repaeter system in Central Copenhagen we are on module C running a lot of GPS reporting for mobile stations interfacing to APRS. All of those data packed are data only. So triggered by the timer in the radio alone with out interference by human... Now once in a wile when such a data packed are received at any one that might listen on the repeater. There are actual voice coming out other then the Roger beep. Like the Radio are decoding Audio. What come out are indeed garble but never less no audio should be there as we are talking data only. This seems to happen more when the station sending GPS data are marginal on the repeater. We see this more from a ham using a IC92 in his car, then from those using IC2820. Now my guess are that error are due to a shift in data as the Voice data are in every packed anyway. So the data packed that original contained no voice, due to noise are altered so the receiving radio believe that there are audio in the packed and start the decoding. Any thought, are that fare out ?? the CRC might have an impact here Thanks in advance 73 de OZ1BZJ [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Audio issue on 2820's?
Can't say I have had that issue I did when it was the pre- keyup issue... Sent the 2820 in a year ago... story as I have to say is when I got my radio back everyone compared it to my IRLP systems, clean cut, and el naturel! Even my son's voice used as an id, you can tell a difference between day and night on the audio.. as I kept the before repair id, and the after repair id's.. So, it went in for something warranty, came out better then when it went in... yes I did send the mic with the radio, thought it was the root of the problem only thing I can think of is go back through the achieves of the icomamerica forum and look for the 2820 warranty issues Evans [msg 1771 in the archives here tells about the firmware and tx issues - ED] _ From: dstar_digital@yahoogroups.com [mailto:dstar_digi...@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Bob McCormick W1QA Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 8:56 PM To: dstar_digital@yahoogroups.com Subject: RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Audio issue on 2820's?

Make contact with KD4AGC, He uses the U82 on our system here in Lakeland and on the Tampa Systems also. He has also used it on W4AES in the past also. He loves it, though not much to speak of programing wise, but for UHF operation and several wide area repeaters, works fine. - Evans F. RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] beta 3
The other way you can do this is to rename the dvtool.jar to dvtool.jar.bak, then rename the beta to dvtool.jar I have played with the Beta WAY BETTER! double click on it, or rename, it still works GREAT! - Evans F. Site to go look at would be www.fab-corp.com, they maintain the NI4CE B system with wifi on 5.6 GHz. Re: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] How much bandwidth?
Al, you need at least 1Mb UPLOAD to maintain a good QSO. (upload from the internet provider that is...) Minimum would be 768Kb up. I run a 768/128 and can not use multicast functions due to the upload speed... Also, if we have more then one dongle user connected, the data goes somewhere beyond south of left field, and outer space pretty much garbage For a link though, 10 Mbps (or 802.11b) can handle the payload just fine... There is a system here in West Central Florida that uses 802.11 for the link from the ground up to the 800 foot platform... rock solid connection!
