[dstar_digital] ID-1 DD Mode on VK4RGC
Good 23cm results today, with VK4RGC A from 30 miles out on my local hill. QSO'ed with VK4ZJC, with signal S5 received. I use a dual band (id-800h)2m/70cm antenna(homebrew*) as a director with the ID-1 on a 2-3/4 w 23cm antenna*, both on magnetic mounts. Excess coax pruning and a new type N connector all helped. I tried on this same spot, 2 weeks ago, with no result on attempt to keyup VK4RGC A. Tried the rps DD and although not internet routed, I received a few packets for the first time, with a different IP I setup today. Spoke to Brian NJ6N also and apparently cross gateway DD networking is not possible. However VK4RGC A looks very ready for happens next. vk4tux --- In dstar_digital@yahoogroups.com, vk4tux [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: With a bit more research it appears this connection is controlled by the ¨Use Local Server¨ disabled in the Utility for ID-RP2C checkbox . obviously the DSL is not connected on WIA D-Star repeater ID-RP2D´s and if ¨(Interconnection with other remote users is not possible.)¨ Such that a intranet is not possible either; Then I wonder why we have have DD modules setup here in VK at all? The ACMA have indicated to me that the internet connection is not necessarily prohibited and are working on a clarification regarding this now, and shall report back.
RE: [dstar_digital] ID-1 DD Mode
Hi Adrian, Would like to check the following; 10.0.0.1 Internet access. I'm not getting it? For what reasons would you expect there to be DD internet access in Australia? Cheers Richard VK3JFK
Re: [dstar_digital] ID-1 DD Mode

[dstar_digital] ID-1 DD Mode
Having trouble finding anyone with experience using rps DD mode with the ID-1. Could a USA op please contact me re my qrz.com email? (good) Would like to check the following; 10.0.0.1 Internet access. I'm not getting it? Urcall can route to only local repeater DD users or other gateway DD users too, by using a destination gateway urcall here eg K5CTX etc, Such that a international DD workgroup/network can be established? The simplex side of things are fine, only having trouble with local VK4RGC A internet access. This may be disabled in the DD setup perhaps, Is that a sysop option? Thanks to those that have some time/info to share. regards Adrian VK4TUX

Ok John. Using XP Pro on the laptop in the car. The Next G Broadband internet is convenient with the Windows Bigpond connection manager, and cloning progs, ID1 controller etc. Thanks for the link for my CentOS 5 box here though. regards Adrian John D. Adrian, The thought is that multiple users could 'chat' in text mode, using a Linux host 'in the network' using a simple terminal program, like putty. -- John Adrian wrote: Ok John. Re: [dstar_digital] ID-1 DD mode Intranet Chat
Ok on that John, I noticed that while I had internet browsing with the aircard, Once I connected to the DD Lan on VK4RGC A (rps), I lost the browser internet connection until I disconnected the DD Lan again. The program I mentioned before has some great features, file transfer etc, which may be easier than exploring the network. I do have putty setup too, thanks for that. I need to check internet connection settings next time I try. Learning as I go my settings are; MyCall: VKTUX UrCall: VK4RGC RPT1: VK4RGC A RPT2: VK4RGC G RP = RPS (simplex DD port) TCP/IP settings in Lan properties IP address : 10.110.54.32 VK4TUX gw ip subnet mask: 255.0.0.0 Gateway: 10.0.0.1 DNS: 10.0.0.1 regards Adrian John D.
