I think you'll find Lor to be very helpful. He's mentored a lot of folks over
the years in IRLP and other linking, so I have to assume he's probably quite
knowledgeable about the local D-STAR stack as well.

Have fun!

Snail mail if you HAVE to :-)

But here's the easiest way...

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=W3EOC

Results in...

http://www.w3eoc.org/

I recognize some of those names in charge as quite active folks on the Net...
their e-mail addresses should only be one more Google search away... and
there's a mailto: tag on the right side for Lor W3QA, who's active on
Repeater-Builder and various other places... and who's been doing Internet
linking for about 10 years, that I know of. :-)

I've been talkin' to Lor for years via IRLP. He isn't hard to find! (GRIN)

RE: [DSTAR_DIGITAL] Quick Check of Repeater Frequency -V82 off set

2010-05-25 Thread Carl Davis
Thanks Ed,
It does the off set in the VFO for analog only.  It does not work when the
radio is in DV on the VFO.  It might be an Icom "feature".  I just learned to
set the frequency in analog, it will do the off set and the I turn on the DV
mode.  I had programmed a D-Star repeater in and set everything up, then I
couldn't get the gateway nor the repeater to work.  Upon closer examination I
found the off set was not on and then redid the memory channel.  I tried it in
each of the repeater pair ranges later and found the same quirk/feature.

It's not worth shipping back.  If that is the only problem I have had with the
radio I'll leave it the way it is

Carl,

I believe that your radio does use the auto-offset for DV mode. What you have
to look at is the range of the auto-offset. The instruction manual of the U82
shows the following:

Frequency range Duplex direction
145.200–145.495 MHz “–” appears
146.610–146.995 MHz
147.000–147.395 MHz “+” appears
442.000–444.995 MHz “+” appears
447.000–449.995 MHz “–” appears

So a repeater with a frequency of 445.X won’t have the duplex automatically
set. Doesn’t matter whether it is FM or DV.

Is there a quick way to verify the input frequency of a D-STAR  Repeater? I am
registered but have found conflicting frequencies listed. I am trying to find
out if W3EOC Port C (70 cm) is on 445.006875 or 445.075  or 445.06875 have
found these frequencies listed. I have an IC-U82, Yes I Know it's first
generation, but have had the HT for a while and like it. I plan to use it for
local  D-STAR.
And yes I Googled for information and that's why I ask.

I have Port/Module C (2M) as 146.4900+1.000 and Port/Module B (70cm) as
445.0750-5.. You seem to have the Modules confused. In USA, Module
C is 2M and Module B is 70cm.I find www.DSTARInfo.com to have the
correct and up-to-date listings.

I believe that your radio does use the auto-offset for DV mode. What you have
to look at is the range of the auto-offset. The instruction manual of the U82
shows the following:

Frequency range Duplex direction
145.200-145.495 MHz "-" appears

147.000-147.395 MHz "+" appears
442.000-444.995 MHz "+" appears
447.000-449.995 MHz "-" appears

Per the repeater directory via dstarusers.org
http://www.dstarusers.org/viewrepeater.php?system=W3EOC

it's 445.0750 -5.000 so the input is 443.075

Same info is displayed in the dstar calculator at
