[Duo2400] GLOD?
2400c went into GLOD about 2 weeks ago. Printed Sidney's procedures from my office PC and worked them. Now just getting chime and no start-up of HDD. Sound like power supply failure to you gurus? I have another 2400c at home in VA (I'm in Hawaii) that went GLOD 'bout a year ago. Never tried to un-GLOD it with Sidney's procedures. MAY have two 2400c's up for sale soon. [Duo2400] GLOD it seems on my 2400
oh dear, my 2400c finally got the GLOD I had been having troubles getting it to wake from sleep and random hangs on shut down. After leaving it on , with the powersupply , overnight ( a short night) to index with sherlock it did not start after shut down. I tried the two different PM resets from Sidney Ho's page at Mac2400 site. no luck, no startup green light comes back and stays steady. --- This is a stock 2400 in very nice shape with 80 mb ram and a 10gb toshiba drive (from ti-book). i don't have a g3 in it. but i do have a 2nd battery and a nice wireless card and a dockking staiton for it DTT , Brian, says he is 99% sure it is the I/O board. I assume this is the same power I/O board others have had replaced. He says $150 and i should be up and running. If i had a G3 upgrade to install now would certainly be the time to add one. Anyone got any G3 upgrades , or any other fixes i can attempt? It seems to me that if i were to get another of these $300 2400's from ebay or this list that i would be getting the same old powerI/O board and not a new one. [Duo2400] GLOD Journey HELP!
List Members, GLOD 2400/180 I have done all of Sidney Ho's tricks to no avail. This 2400 was working up unitil an update of HD and RAM so I doubt it died of old age hours of use etc. I got it from a friend. It looks brand new! Tonight I switched back to the original HD and ram to no avail. I unplugged the PRAM battery and have left it that way for now. I even pulled the ram altogether. I tried booting with the screen ribbons unattached incase the screen was holding things up. I was assuming it would boot that way. No luck! I can hear a high pitch low level tone as I hold in the reset button. When I plug in an external keyboard the lights on it flash so it seems the computer is gettng power. After it is plugged in for a while it squeals for a second or two after I unplug it. After trying to reset it with the button sometimes the green light stays on sometimes it stays out. Any help appreciated. Anybody have a working board I might try. One that might be for sale. Any other assistance appreciated! thanks!! Jerry -- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! [Duo2400] GLOD 2400 --HELP!!
List members The 2400 a friend sent me after he botched a hard drive replacement needs help. I really would like to get it running. It has no broken pieces (except the ribbon cable to the track pad) I did that one after a slip. It looks like it was rarely used. I am sure it probably needs a PRAM battery, looked original. Can that cause GLOD? I have been testing it with a keyboard plugged into. I got the GLOD issue before and after the broken ribbon cable. What is the first few things to do. [Duo2400] GLOD: need advice, please
Hi - my 2400 (stock) developed GLOD a week ago while being on battery power, and I need listers-advice please. I read Sydney's article on what to do in such case, was able to reset the 2400 twice for a short time (a few minutes first, then for about 30 min, running Norton, rebuilding DT, resetting PRAM and Power manager), but in the end it showed GLOD again. I brought the machine to a good local shop, they found and installed a new PRAM battery but told me just now that it still has GLOD and is in need of a new motherboard from Apple. I told them to hold off sending it in for a day or so. The options I can think of in my current state of shock are: - sending it to Apple, which will set me back at least $330 (ouch!) - trying to sell it unrepaired - finding a used board (are there any out there?) Are there any other options I'm missing? And what's your advice I should do? Thank you - Tobias Kaiser -- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! [Duo2400] GLOD spread to Fla
My 2400 developed GLOD now as well. Second time in four years or so, this time on a l-d flight Wednesday when I wanted to work. I took the lion-battery out and got it to start up back home Thursday. I reset PRAM and power manager, rebuilt DT - everything was fine. This morning it frooze when I tried to sync files. It didn't want to restart at all, screen went dark, and then GLOD set in. Again I disconnected ac and took the battery out; the pram-battery I didn't dare to search for yet by opening the case. What should I do next if I _can't_ get it to run, and what preventive things should I do if I do get to work again? Many thanks from -tobias. -- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! [Duo2400] GLOD (what is...?)
Over the last two weeks, different members of the list have referred to GLOD or GLOD-like problems. I hate to show my ignorance, but... What does GLOD mean? This is not a word or an acronym I have encountered before in any of my troubleshooting and hacking. The Apple Knowledgebase yields nothing... and internet searches have been largely fruitless. [Duo2400] GLOD: new variant?
Hi Duo/2400 Listers. I need some help with my 2400. I've got a GLOD that I can't fix, and I'm hoping that someone can help me out. My 2400 (Newer 240/512 G3 upgrade, 4GB HD, 80MB RAM, MacOS 8.6) was working fine, then it started to crash under IE5.0 when I'd press option-N (or is it command-N) for a new browser window. I had a few crashes like this, then the 2400 was refusing to wake up from sleep. So I had to reboot from that a few times, now I have a GLOD that just won't go away. I've checked Sidney Ho's advice on mac2400 but that didnt' work. I've got the battery and the AC adapter out now, and I've held that reset button in for like 5 minutes quite a few times. Anyway, when I have the AC adapter in (and the batter out) this is the behaviour of the computer: press and release the reset button - get a little click from the speaker (no GLOD) - press and release the reset button - GLOD - press and release the reset button - get a little click from the speaker (no GLOD) - press and release the reset button - GLOD .. and it just toggles between those two states. What else can I do? I'm open to any suggestions. I recall seeing an extended version of Mr. Ho's advice on the list a while ago, but was not wise enough to save it. Does anybody have that? Or any other advice? Shaun in YVR _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. -- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
