RE: [DX-CHAT] Logbook of the World
FYI, it's back up. I even seemed to have gained a confirmation! 73 -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Ron Notarius W3WN Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2008 11:53 AM To: DX Chat Reflector Subject: [DX-CHAT] Logbook of the World Anyone know why Logbook of the World has been down "for maintenance" since at least yesterday late morning? I first thought it was just to make adjustments for St. Barts... but even if that was the case, I'd've thought it would be back by now. I don't want to bug anyone working on it if there is a problem -- better they spend their time fixing things than explaining things. Just wondering if anyone had heard anything? (Of course, Murphy's Law guarantees that by the time you see this, the system will probably be back up... one can hope...) 73, ron w3wn Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX related items only, dx-chat@njdxa.org This is the DX-CHAT reflector sponsored by the NJDXA http://njdxa.org Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX related items only, dx-chat@njdxa.org This is the DX-CHAT reflector sponsored by the NJDXA http://njdxa.org

Hello Wayne, Friday, September 26, 2003 Mills, Wayne N7NG wrote to [EMAIL PROTECTED]: MWN> For those of you interested in using Logbook of the World, Wayne, sorry, again some questions about LOTW and ARRL awards pricing scheme.. If I got it right, submission to ARRL awards (5BDXCC, for example) will cost us the following fees: 75 USD for 500 QSO (LOTW itself) Fees for paper award or plaque, postal fees... And two fees I'm not sure still in use: Annual 20 USD fee for any ARRL award submission. A fee for checking QSOs over 120, (500-120)х0,15=57 USD? Are these two fees still in use? -- 73...Art RX9TX/101.10.2003 18:15 UTC "We are here to add what we can to life, not to get what we can from it." [DX-CHAT] Logbook of the World - Help
Title: [DX-CHAT] Burma name Hi Everyone! For those of you interested in using Logbook of the World, I'd like to make a few suggestions. First of all read the web page thoroughly, especially the step-by-step instructions in the FAQ section. Try to get a handle on the elements of the process. Next, keep track of your passwords. By far, the most important password is the one that unlocks your private key. It is a good idea to protect it, but it isn't necessary. If you forget it, your "hard-earned" certificate will become useless. We can't help you recover this one. For US hams, the "postcard password" is ONLY used for establishing your identity. Once you have entered it at the website, you won't need it anymore. The password that comes with the "tq6"email allows you to get into your records page on the website. We CAN help you with this one if you lose it. Finally, I want to point out that once you have submitted your initial tq5 certificate request file, you must NOT, under any circumstances, delete the partial certificate that results. (That's the cert that is indicated with a red circle with a red slash through it. That circle indicates that it is not complete...yet.) This file contains your private key, and the tq6 file that we send back must match up with it. If you find that you have made date errors in your initial request, wait until you get your first certificate. You will then be able to modify it by filing a "renewal" that you will sign with your first certificate. Deleted keys because of re-trys is the biggest problem that we have encountered. It will require that we revoke your certificate and you will have to begin the process again. I'd like to thank you all for your cooperation. There is no question that this is a challenge for everyone, ourselves included. Without exception, everyone has been great. By this afternoon, there were well over 3.5 million Qs in the database, far more than we had anticipated. Lucky we have already installed four times the memory that we originally planned. Thanks, Wayne Mills, N7NG/1, Manager Membership Services Department

Did someone save Wayne Mills' bulletin regarding the status of this project. If so, would appreciate you forwarding it along to me. I didn't save it but now I find I want to refer back to what Wayne stated.
