Re: [DX-NEWS] VP6DI and Europe
Well, this comes from a small European pistol who of course hasn't worked Ducie yet... Due to its geographical position, signals from EU must be less strong than those from NA JA... What upsets me a bit is that this (local) morning I found them on 21020 working mostly JA with a few kW Europeans... this (local) afternoon they were working mostly North America again with a few kW Europeans. If they don't sign EU only during propagation peaks to EU, I guess they won't have any Europeans using 50W into a dipole or vertical in their logs... re: [DX-NEWS] VP6DI and Europe
Thanks for the replies, everyone. Along with the predictable kindergarten abuse (it's all water off a duck's back, chaps) were a lot of genuine responses. My original message was certainly not to flame the operators, just to query the use of available band openings. Remember how recent 3B7, 3B9, FR/T operations maximised their use of the short openings to North America? To those still calling, GOOD LUCK. Stick at it - I hope you work them. By and large I think the operating has been excellent, particularly the 15m cw op whom I chased for most of yesterday, overnight and early this morning. I found his listening pattern hard to follow at first - but his rate was good, sending perfect and he picked most calls up first time through what must have been a sea of white noise from his end. If I ever get half as good as him on the key, I'll be happy :-) For info, his pattern seems to be to start listening about 2khz up from his transmit frequency and turn the VFO after each QSO upwards about 300 to 500Hz until he reaches about 25khz upthen to tune down again (Hope this consitutes DX NEWS, Steve).. cheers Dave G0OIL PS: My wife tells me that there's a fine line between DXing and obsessive compulsive disorder. --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net/
[DX-NEWS] KC6 and others
I'm mining old cards for awards. KC6 was Eastern Caroline, what is the name of the new country? ZL9CI was an expedition to Campbell Island. What DXCC country does it count for?
