Re: [DX-NEWS] IRCs
Folks, According to the postman in my Local Post Office, the old IRCs wil be exchanged 'forever', or better say until further notice. Meanwhile the new ones are on sale here in Canada. There are few observable differences: 1, It is big (post card size) 2. It has expiry date (December 31,2006) 3. It has barcode (and probably serial number) 4. It has the left stamp box optional 5. It has form number CN 01. The price is the same as for the Old IRC. 73 Nenad === Snail Mail : Nenad Stevanovic ( VE3EXY ) P.O.Box: 65046 Nepean, On, K2G 5Y3 C A N A D A E-MAIL: [EMAIL PROTECTED] PERSONAL URL : http://www.magma.ca/~ve3exy VE QSL Bureau URL: http://www.magma.ca/~ve3exy/bureau.html === --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net/

Here's a message received from the UPU answering the question about a possible expiration of "old" IRC's. --- Dear Mr. Bell, Kathleen forwarded your message to me for a response, since my programme looks after IRC matters now. The "old" coupons will remain valid for exchange indefinitely. Sincerely, Akhilesh Mathur Mail Programme Manager International Bureau of the UPU Kurt Brandstetter wrote: Hello Albert ! Hello to all of you ! I got this information also 2 days ago from our post office company but they could not tell me how long the old IRCs are valid. I KB> think we will get problems if some countries take different times until the KB> old IRCs are worthless. As all the costs of redeemed IRCs are in the end cleared through the UPU (Universal Postal Union) in Switzerland, and their value is quoted in so-called golden Swiss francs, I presume there's no need for an end date to change "old" IRCs. Let's remember, even the actual IRC has changed its appearance slightly about six or seven years ago (and more importantly increased in versatility, as it allows for airmail postage now), and there was no changeover date for previously issued coupons. Of course, it is well known that in 1975 IRC had a very radical "facelift" and then old coupons needed to be exchanged until a set date, but the situation now probably isn't so drastic. Basic problem with IRCs is that postal authorities are often not so well informed about all the important details how to handle them properly, producing a lot of misleading information which usually spreads like brushfire :) -- Igor YT1MM mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net/

[DX-NEWS] IRCs to sell
Hi, I've got about 200+ IRCs to sell, 80cents/piece. First come, first served. On another subject and this should only be considered as a general remark: I've recently received quite some cards, through the buro, which were stamped in the CE buro. Most cards were from the US stations requesting confirmations for contacts they had when we were on Easter Island in 05/2000. That's all fine BUT, you should learn to listen MUCH more carefully what call-sign is given. A large number of cards just showed "CE0Y" or "CE0A" or "CE0Y/1NO" etc. The date/time/band/mode values are right but we (my wife LX2LX and myself) NEVER said something like that. Please, do learn to listen more carefully and pay attention to what you write down. Pass on the message. I think buro people should also pay attention to where they send their cards. LX is not in LZ or LY, especially if "via LX1NO" is written on the cards. It just adds up to more delay and to a number of complaints from fellows around the world. Thanks for the band-width. 73 Norby - Norbert Oberweis (LX1NO/LX9EG/KM6RY)mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] URL: http://www.qsl.net/lx1no LL : http://www.qsl.net/lx1no/llog_win.html --- Subscribe/unsubscribe, feedback, FAQ, problems, etc DX-NEWS http://njdxa.org/dx-news DX-CHAT: http://njdxa.org/dx-chat To post a message, DX NEWS items only, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives http://www.mail-archive.com/dx-news%40pro-usa.net/
