[Dx-packages] [Bug 1254281] [NEW] Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full screen
You have been subscribed to a public bug: After I connect an external monitor (using it on left) to my LG S1 Express Dual laptop and try to see something in full screen on the laptop monitor everything works fine. However, when I press ESC to return from full screen the launch and global menu bars get invisible, and I need to press super key (for example) to get them back. This situation is observed with any applications (e.g., chromium , document viewer). This didn't happen in the previous ubuntu version, but it is happening now in Ubuntu 13.10. ** Affects: unity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1254281 You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Dx-packages] [Bug 1254281] Re: Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full screen
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This is probably a duplicate of bug 1240595 (though you shouldn't really see it with chromium). Please test if you can reproduce the issue with following applications (if not this is definitely a duplicate of bug 1240595): - totem (Videos in dash) - firefox - chromium-browser - mplayer (not installed by default) - vlc (not installed by default) Also, please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1254281 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu = unity (Ubuntu) ** Also affects: unity Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: unity Status: New = Incomplete ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1238346] Re: on bootup wrong keyboard layout is recognized
Hi, I was wront the problem occured again, so I used also ibus-setup, I'll let you know after a few days -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. I have two keyboard layouts activated, the Dvorak and the English US. The Dvorak should be the default keyboard. That is the way I have it set up, and it shows up in the task bar on top as En1, which is the Dvorak. However, when I start to type, it starts in QUERTY. ?? To correct this, I go to the task bar (where it shows EN1, or Dvorak), re-select the Dvorak, and then everything is fine. ?? [Dx-packages] [Bug 1254281] Re: Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full screen
I just connected a new external monitor and the situation definitely happens with chromium (with firefox it didn't happen now). However, 'invisible' is not the right word, since what I see is the margins of the windows when they were in full screen on top of the bars. Anyway, I can only properly test with the other apps tomorrow to ensure I have the same setup. Moreover, I think I found another bug with this new external monitor: Laptop Screen Resolution: 1280x800 External Monitor Resultion: 1920x1080 when I press the super key to get the launcher everything on screen starts shaking. It seems like I can see those lines going down refreshing the screen (the same effect that a video camera captures on old CRT displays). This only happens when I set the resolution of the external monitor to 1920x1080, for other lower resolutions everything works fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1228360] Re: No clock in menu bar and can't edit Clock settings
Don't know if this helps, but I made a small script I named 'fixtime' that restores the clock when it goes away: = #!/bin/sh apt-get install indicator-datetime killall unity-panel-service = Just running killall unity-panel-service does not bring back the clock. I have to first install the indicator-datetime (which comes back reporting that it is already the newest version, so nothing actually happens there): root@IW-UB-01:/# fixtime Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done indicator-datetime is already the newest version. 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. root@IW-UB-01:/# This brings back my clock. So something with touching the indicator-datetime installation file(s) seems to make a difference.
