  With the new locking scheme in unity7, minimised applications appear
  briefly after unlocking

  To reproduce:

  1. Open some applications (in my case psensor and steam)
  2. Minimise them
  3. Press CTRL+ALT+L or Super+L to lock the screen 
  Observe the minimised windows briefly popup before the screen locks.
  4. Unlock screen
  Observe the minimised windows re-appear, then re-minimise.

  I would expect minimised applications to stay minimised through the
  lock/unlock process.

I much preferred the old 'scroll to focus' behaviour. Sounds trivial but
I found it more convenient than clicking. A quick nudge of the
scrollwheel always showed me the most recently used window of any app
(whether multiple windows were open or not).

The new behaviour breaks my workflow.

  Steps to reproduce:
  - move the mouse cursor over the launcher
  - move it over the icon of an application that has one and only one window 
open that is not on front
  - move the scrollwheel of the mouse in any direction

  Expected behavior: NOTHING.

  Ovserved behavior: the window, corresponding to the icon over which
  the mouse cursor is, is brought to front; and this cannot be reversed
  easily.

  
  Trying it with an icon of an application that has two or more windows open 
reveals why this happens:
  - move the mouse cursor over the Launcher over an icon of an application that 
has two or more windows open
  - move the scrollwheel
  This will switch between windows of that application, so scrolling up or down 
will bring one or another window (of that same application) to front.
  This is already annoying, like many other abuses of the scrollwheel that 
unfortunately have become widespread (such as: moving the scrollwheel while 
keeping the cursor over a tab will switch among tabs in applications that use 
tabs).
  But even if we accept the annoying 
use-the-scrollwheel-for-everything-at-all-costs fashion, only two behaviors 
would make sense in this case:
  Option A:
- similar to current behavior (switch between windows of an application) 
but ONLY IF there are more than one window of that application open AND one of 
those window is already focused.
  Or option B:
   - whenever the scrollwheel is on the launcher, scrolling would switch among 
ALL existing windows

  Both option A and B would be consistent with the widespread
  scrollwheel abuse, but would at least make sense, and an unintentional
  movement of the scrollwheel causing an undesired window switching
  could always be reverted by a countermovement of the scrollwheel in
  the opposite direction.

Version: Ubuntu 13.10
Video Card: ATI Radeon 2600XT on Open Source Drivers (fglrx is unavailable
for this card on 13.10)
Montor #1@1920x1080
Monitor #2:@1440x900 on left of Monitor #1

How to reproduce:

Open Displays from the dash. Select the secondary monitor. Turn the
secondary monitor off (in the settings, not the physical button on the
monitor), and click Apply.
Close Displays. Reopen it.
Select the secondary monitor. Turn the secondary monitor on (in the
settings; not on the monitor, itself.)
Put the secondary monitor to the left of the primary monitor.
Click Apply

Expected Results:
Secondary Display turns on, and I am prompted to keep my settings or revert.

Actual Results:
Brief screen garbage, followed by unity crashing. Whenever I try to
resurrect Unity from a either VT or a terminal emulator running in X, I see
Bus Error (core dumped). This continues until I end my session.

Bug description:
  I'm seeing rightly on forums and generally the Internet that 100scopes
  previews are slow, combined with the fact that we now have the left
  click showing the preview by default frustrate a lot of users.

  On my beefy machine (i7, 8G of rams), the preview for an application
  takes 3/4s to show, you can't do anything meanwhile as there is no
  button to launch the application (because you didn't double click,
  just left click and thought argh, I should have double click).

  Because of this, we are making the 1st landing of 100 scopes
  experience bad and we should fix it (at least, in that applicatoin
  lens) by either preloading the software-center-dbus (/usr/share
  /software-center/software-center-dbus) daemon (we can't have it always
  running as it's taking over 100MB of memory) when hovering an app lens
  result, or when it's the first result (so can be directly triggered by
  pressing [Enter])

  Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
  version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
  no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
  unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
  system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
  otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

  TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
  indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
  that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
  to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
  now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

I can confirm on my first login after the update the keybinding thing
appeared (which I believe is intentional) but it would not go away when

  what application Alt-Tab switcher will switch to if I were to let go
  the key combo.  The focus moves from leftish (not fully left since the
  left-most icon is Show Desktop) further to the right as Alt-Tab is
  pressed repeatedly.  I would suggest to always keep the focus in the
  middle of the screen and instead move the app icons in a visual stream
  beneath it.  That way, it is easier for the user to know where to
  focus attention and operate unity as desired more quickly and
  efficiently.

Bug description:
  Since several updates performed on 1/8/2014, I am no longer able to
  reveal the launcher bar on my secondary (right) display with the mouse
  auto-reveal function.  Under display settings, both monitors are set
  to display a launcher bar.  Auto reveal works fine with the mouse on
  the primary (left) monitor.  The sticky edge works fine with the
  secondary (right) monitor, but no auto reveal for the launcher bar.  I
  can bring up the secondary (right) monitor launcher bar with the super
  key and alt+f1.

  So far I've reverted to Nvidia 3.04 drivers from 3.19 by purging from
  terminal and re-installing to no avail, and now back to 3.19 and it's
  still not working.

  32-bit
  AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
  Nvidia GT630 PCIe

  Sorry but it is very annoying that I am not allowed to copy programs to the 
dashboard.
  I cant copy programs to folders I want to place as toolboxes om the dashboard 
to ease the use of functional programs.
  The left program starter is filled with too many programs.
  Games I would like to store in a game folder.
  EVD handling in another
  Writing in it own and so forth.

  But I am not allowed to get information about / so that a copy operation 
can be done.
  The same malfunction exists in 14.04

  I am VERY SAD about this.  It worked fine in my 12.04 instalation.

  I have seen this described somewhere a while ago - cant remember
  where. Hoped it would be fixed - but not until now.

Bug description:
  When a screen configuration has a non-zero y-offset, clicking on the
  top left corner in that screen does not close the maximized window in
  that screen.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Have a multihead setup with two screens of different height side by side, 
aligned by their bottom edges.
  2. Maximize a window on the shorter screen
  3. Move mouse to top left corner of the shorter screen
  4. Notice that the window control buttons vanish, replaced by the window 
title at the exact corner.
  5. Move your mouse inward a bit, and notice that the window controls reappear.

  Repeat steps 2-5 with the taller screen, and notice that at #4, the
  window controls are still present, and clicking on that corner results
  in the window closing.

  Expected behaviour:
  The shorter screen should follow the behaviour of the taller screen.

  Specific details of my multihead setup is as follows:
  LVDS1 connected primary 1366x768+0+270 (normal left inverted right x axis y

  Move focus off gedit, then back on to geit, panel menu returns  doesn't 
disappear

Bug description:
  The indicators[1] in the new lockscreen allow starting associated
  programs like they would when the computer is unlocked.

  Steps to reproduce:
  * Lock the screen
  * Click on Character Map in the keyboard-layout indicator menu
  * Unlock the screen

  The character map is now open in the previously locked session. This
  should not be possible, indicators should not allow such actions when
  the screen is locked.

  This might even be a security vulnerability, as it is possible to
  crash the machine by starting multiple instances of the same program
  until it runs out of memory. I'm not sure if I should mark it as such,
  so I don't for now.

  test this as I don't have evolution installed

Title:
  'Move to Another Workspace' causes window to disappear

Bug description:
  When using the 'Move to Another Workspace' right-click option on a
  window, the window disappears from the current workspace, but is not
  present in any other workspace.  It effectively is no longer
  accessible, though it can still be killed.  Disabling workspaces does
  not cause the lost window to reappear, but setting the number of
  desktops to 1 in CCSM  General Options  Desktop Size  Number of
  Desktops does the trick and the window reappears.

  I am using Ubuntu 14.04 (latest updates as of 2014-03-07) and NVIDIA
  proprietary drivers.  I do not experience this problem on Ubuntu
  13.04.

Title:
  Locally-integrated menus stop working in Virtualbox and Transmission

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  With (the absolutely awesome) locally-integrated menus enabled, if you
  open the VirtualBox the menus initially work as expected, ie they
  appear in VirtualBox's titlebar when you hover the mouse over it.

  But if you open a popup window by clicking on New or Settings and then
  close it, it the menus no longer appear when you hover over the
  titlebar.

  One workaround is that the menus start working again if you focus on
  another application's window and then click on VirtualBox again so it
  regains focus, so it's as if the popup window has retained the focus
  for LIM even once it is closed.

  Also worth noting is that if you open a VirtualBox popup window and
  focus on another application without closing the VirtualBox popup
  window, when you go back to the popup window and close it, the menus
  work as expected.

  I tried reproducing this using the popup windows in Synaptic, gnome-
  disks, and gnome-terminal, but they all work fine.

  The titlebar-font appears to small in window titlebars, application menu and 
indicators. Since all other fonts are consider the global scaling factor 
automatically, the individual font sizes should not need to be changed.

org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences.titlebar-font=Ubuntu Bold 11 (the default).
  When I change it to Ubuntu Bold 22, most titlebars and the application 
title in the panel show the (originally) expected font size, but the 
application menu and indicators still show too small text.

I can confirm this is a regression in unity-gtk-module. Downgrading to
0.0.0+14.04.20140213.2-0ubuntu1 fixes the issue, and upgrading back to
0.0.0+14.04.20140311-0ubuntu1 breaks it again.

Bug description:
  To Reproduce (in a system with a touch screen)

  1. Boot the system and don't touch the screen
  2. Set the Launcher to autohide
  3. Move the cursor to the left (using the touchpad or an external mouse)
  4. The Launcher is revealed successfully
  5. Wait until the launcher hides again
  6. Now, touch the screen for the first time (no matter where you touch the 
screen)
  7. Now, use again the touchpad or external mouse to move the cursor to the 
left to reveal the Launcher

  Expected result: Launcher is revealed
  Actual result: Launcher cannot be revealed.

  Additional information:
  1. When the issue happens, can press window key to show dash and launcher (or 
alt-f1 to reveal the launcher), but moving cursor to the left side still can't 
show launcher
  2. There is no crash is observed so far on X or Compiz
  3. Switch to ttyl1 and restart lightdm can recover

Bug description:
  Ubuntu/Unity uses GNOME Control Center as the application to configure
  the Unity session. We've made a lot of changes appropriate for Ubuntu
  and Unity (61 patches) which makes it hard to maintain and creates a
  conflict for Ubuntu GNOME to use the control center. Unity 7 will be
  replaced by Unity 8 in the future which has a new settings interface.

  So we can continue to remain on the current version of GNOME Control
  Center but allow Ubuntu GNOME to continue to update we will create a
  new project lp:unity-control-center which is a copy of GNOME Control
  Center 3.6 but with appropriate renaming so both can be installed.

  A number of packages that refer to gnome-control-center need to be
  updated to refer to unity-control-center (see bug tasks).

   * It wasn't possible to shutdown at all before
   * I can't see a case for a regression, since it never worked to begin with

  [Original Report]

  Selecting shutdown from the greeter does nothing when multiple
  accounts are open.

  This is because the lightdm user (which the greeter runs as) does not
  have permission to shutdown while sessions are open.  Inside a normal
  session this would just return you to the login screen.

  The solution is either for the indicator to say not allowed or to
  run a PolicyKit frontend in the greeter than can get the required
  permissions to perform the shutdown.s

metRo_, not in Ubuntu/Unity. A nasty workaround for Xubuntu is to
remove the indicator-application package. That will at least allow the
tray icon to appear, but if anything else uses that package, you will
lose that as well. For example, the volume indicator.

The Quassel team states that this is a won't-fix because Canonical
changed the way this works in incompatible ways. I don't agree with
this, but it is what it is. If anyone wants to step up and write a
patch, that would be awesome. However, for now, I just accept the fact
that there is no indicator or tray icon in Unity for Quassel.

  New keyboard layout changer in Ubuntu 13.10 introduce  old-new bug. Any 
system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for 
terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected 
non-latin keyboard layout.
  Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly.

  Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system
  parameters-keyboard-hotkeys-windows works perfect with any keyboard
  layout.

  Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non-
  latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead
  of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with
  english layout.  If you use english and two different non-latin
  layouts this workaround helps only with one of them.

Now when using Dvorak and Russian layouts hotkeys are on one physical
key when in English-Dvorak layout, and on other key when in Russian
(they are placed to position where corresponding latin key was in QWERTY
layout). It worked flawlessly for years, and now it's broken in the same
way as in Windows, wich never figured out to fix it.

Bug description:
  This is a feature freeze exception request to integrate the following
  feature in the upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 release.

  The overall web application support in Ubuntu currently relies on
  various components and a web container(s) in particular.  So far we
  have been using Firefox and Chromium, by way of browser extensions, to
  detect, host and integrate web applications in Ubuntu.

  On mobile devices however, we have already switched to using our own webapp 
container, based on webbrowser-app.
  The integration itself has been present as an option since 13.10. However we 
have been using the QtWebkit engine so far. 

  This request is to also enable and use our webapp-container by
  defaullt, with the Oxide engine, on the desktop edition.

  The change impacts a set of packages linked to this bug report.

  duplicate, install either of the quassel, quassel-client applications,
  and launch.  In 12.04 there is an entry in the messaging menu, but in
  13.04 there is not.  Also enabling the tray icon in quassel has no
  effect.  There is simply no tray icon.

Bug description:
  If the screen is locked while the mouse hovers over a launcher icon,
  the username disappears in the lockscreen. It shortly reappears on
  every keypress while entering the password.

  Steps to reproduce:
  * Hover your mouse over a launcher icon
  * Lock the screen using the keyboard shortcut

  - log into an unity session, open some softwares
  - move the mouse pointer over the launcher icon to display a launcher tooltip
  - use alt-tab to cycle between those open softwares
