[Dx-packages] [Bug 1981083] Re: 22.04-Apps minimized to system tray icon do not come back on the foreground when toggled

Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1981083 Title: 22.04-Apps minimized to system tray icon do not come back on the foreground when toggled Status in Ubuntu MATE: New Status in indicator-applet package in Ubuntu: New Status in mate-applets package in Ubuntu: New Status in mate-panel package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Using a fully patched 22.04 system (after a reformat), I am having problems with several of the applications that are minimized to the system tray. The problem is mostly with: signal-desktop, keepassx, tutanota mail and telegram. Oddly enough hexchat does not give this problem. The problem is that everytime I minimized a window back into the tray that when I click back on it to put it back on the foreground that it does not do anything. I need to re-minimize it and then re-toggle it for it to come back so I can see and use it. For example: 1. use telegram; 2. minimize telegram; 3. clicking on telegram icon in system tray then select "open telegram" = nothing happens. 4. clicking a 2nd time on the telegram icon in the system tray now shows me the options: "minimize to tray, enable notifications & quit telegram". Hence it shows the options as if the focus would be on the screen but it is nowhere displayed on my desktop; 5. selecting "minimize to tray" and re-re-clicking on the telegram tray icon again shows me "open telegram, enable notifs & quit" AND brings back the telegram window on the foreground. 6. When I minimize the application it brings back to the same state of point #3. Same problem w/ keepassx: 1. open keepassx -> tools menu -> settings -> general -> check "hide window to system tray when minimized"; 2. copy a password off keepassx = keepassx dissapears under the system tray; 3. clicking on the keepassx tray icon shows "toggle window and quit"; 4. selecting "toggle window" = keepassx window stays hidden; 5. I need to do this twice everytime I wish to use this application. Nota bene: this behavior seems to happen some time after I started using X. For example immediately after a reboot, minimize and maximizes off tray will work. But after I opened a couple of window (Firefox, terminator, caja, etc) then it starts to manifest as I described it. After clean install of 18.10 (over 18.04.1) any attempt to change these, eg to Button5 and Button4 respectively (Mouse wheel Down/Up), appears to work during the input selection process, but then results in them still being set to Disabled afterwards. So no way to switch viewports via a mouse. When I previously did a 18.04.1 upgrade to 18.10, it should have been OK as my preferences would have already had these buttons set. However, while Move Prev remained set, and worked, Move Next was already Disabled and did not work. As soon as I clicked on Move Next it also went Disabled. Neither will take changes. Both work fine on 18.04 and 18.04.1. However I would note something odd on 18.04.1 (which was not present in 18.04.0): While Move Next/Prev both still function on 18.04.1, if you look at them in Compiz CCM under 18.04.1 the fields display BLANK rather than Button5/Button4. (If you click on either of the Pencil edit buttons, the value of the Button5/4 then appears.) So something was starting to go wrong before 18.10 possibly. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1841079] Re: Speech Dispatcher user should not be shown on LightdDM login screen
The problem is really caused by `accountsservice` packages. Downgrading them to 0.6.50-0ubuntu1 version (as it was in 20190821 iso) fixes the issue: accountsservice_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb gir1.2-accountsservice-1.0_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb libaccountsservice0_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb I determined the list of these packages by comparing the lists of installed packages from clean install of 20190821 and fully updated system (or 20190822 daily iso). --- Steps to confirm: ``` cd ~/Downloads wget https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/a/accountsservice/accountsservice_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb wget https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/a/accountsservice/gir1.2-accountsservice-1.0_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb wget https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/ubuntu/pool/main/a/accountsservice/libaccountsservice0_0.6.50-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb sudo apt install ./*accountsservice*.deb ``` and then reboot. --- So it is a serious regression. ** Tags added: regression-release -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to accountsservice in Ubuntu. There are color squares in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS for both GTK2 and GTK3 versions of `indicator-datetime`. Squares are in place on 12.10, 13.04, 13.10. There are no color squares in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1754872] Re: gnome-control-center is unusable on xubuntu-desktop, but called from Gear (About this Computer, System Settings) icon, Text Entry Settings, clock (Time & Date Settings)
Dear Sean! I did installation as your wrote in comment 14. I started with latest mini.iso from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/bionic/main/installer-amd64/current/images/netboot/ . Then selected *Xubuntu desktop* in tasksel. Here I got exactly the same result as your wrote. So no problem here. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1754872] Re: gnome-control-center is unusable on xubuntu-desktop, but called from Gear (About this Computer, System Settings) icon, Text Entry Settings, clock (Time & Date Settings)
@dino99 Again. I have had pretty small clean installation of mini.iso. Then I installed `xubuntu-desktop` meta-package. I do not have other desktops installed. This method is normal and useful. It worked normally for years. I'm using it for `ubuntu-mate-desktop` without issues. So you guys, have wrong dependency-trees. Usually I do not care about Xfce (but I like it for simple design and minimalism), and you can of course ignore my comments and actions. But do not be surprised at similar reports when the final release is released. Any system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected non-latin keyboard layout. Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly. Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system parameters->keyboard->hotkeys->windows works perfect with any keyboard layout. Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non- latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin layouts this workaround helps only with one of them. Dear Ubuntu users and developers! Please include the following information to your comment about non-latin shortcuts problems: 1. What Ubuntu version do you have (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 GNOME, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME and so on), upgraded (describe version) or clean installed 2. What keyboard layout do you have 3. What shortcut for keyboard layout switching do you use 4. On which session you have problems - that is one from Unity, GNOME Shell, GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Metacity), GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Compiz) 5. With which program and its version and origin (Ubuntu repositories, PPA, non-deb binary package from some website) you have problems. By providing this information you can make bug-fixing much simpler and may be faster. -- For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see bug 1218322. -- To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/aptana-studio-installer/+bug/1226962/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
