[Dx-packages] [Bug 1440162] Re: Misplaced spinner in sound menu

2015-04-28 Thread Sami Jaktholm
Here's what I see on current Trusty:
* Initially when there's nothing playing the spinner appears at the correct
position.
* When I start playing something the menu is made a lot wider when the Now
Playing info appears.
* Now the spinner appears left of the Play button, over the Previous button
as the menu is wider than before.

If the user drags and hold a file over a running application in the Launcher,
all the windows of that application should be shown with the spread. The user
should then be able to drag and drop the file in a windows in the spread to
load the file into that specific window.

  [Test Case]
  1) Open two windows instances of the same application (say firefox)
  2) Drag a file from the file-manager or the desktop and hover the firefox icon
  3) After one second the firefox icon is hovered, the spread will occur
  4) You should be able to hover one of the firefox windows and it should
show a spinner, after 750ms (by default) the hovered windows should be
focused
     and raised
  5) You should now be able to drop the content you're dragging (if the selected
     application supports that content).

  [Regression Potential]
This codepath was mostly disabled in the current compiz and unity code
because it was buggy, so the regression potential is very low, although it
might happen that, if some race-condition happens, when closing the scale the
launcher might be still painted as if it would be in scale mode (desaturated)
even if it's not the case anymore.

The number of pips next to the Launcher icon may not be accurate and
lead the user to believe that the number of open windows for a
particular app is not what is true in reality.

  [Test Case]

  1. Open up 2 Firefox windows.
  2. Close one of the windows.

Pips (the little arrows) next to the Launcher icon should reflect the
  number of open windows.

  [Regression potential]

workspaces is enabled
  Test case:
Open nautilus (1 pip shows up
  R. click nautilus icon open another nautilus window (a 2nd pip does not

Drag the 2nd naut window fully into current ws, 2nd pip still not shown

A user can get into a situation where the Launcher is no longer
available. This can lead to frustration and loss of productivity.

  [Test Case]

  1. Set Launcher into auto-hide mode.
  2. Drag a file over the Launcher.
  3. Keep moving the dragged file to the left edge where you see the Launcher
hide again.
  4. Cancel the drag operation.
  5. Move mouse cursor over to the Launcher to reveal it.

  Launcher should be fully revealed.

  [Regression Potential]

The Launcher will hide again when you keep moving a file over to the
left. However, this is not a regression as this behavior was present
before this bug was fixed, so no new regressions are identified.

  Original Description:

Dragging a file to the launcher and keeping it there causes the
launcher to hide after a timeout.

  The problem:
The launcher either doesn't reappear or only slide in by a few pixels.
A screencast is attatched to showcase the problem.

Bug description:
  [Impact]

Many users tend to change the size of the Launcher icons to better fit
the screen resolution of their monitor or for personal tastes and
workflow reasons. This issue causes the edge glow of icons to be
offset at sizes less than 40 and greater than 56. This looks really
  ugly and unprofessional.

  [Test case]

  * Open CCSM-Ubuntu Unity Plugin-Launcher
  * Change Launcher Icon Backlight Mode to Edge Illumination Toggles
  * Change Launcher Icon Size to some value in the range described above such
as 38.
  * Make sure an application is open on the Launcher to see the edge glow
around the icon.

  [Regression Potential]

The texture itself may not look as nice on hi DPI screens when
rescaling, but when the texture is offset from the icon, it would be
  hard to tell anyways.

  Original Description:

In Unity, when using the edge illumination effect on launcher icons is
offset. It shows to the top and left of the icons, but barely at all
  to the right and bottom.

This was not a problem before Trusty; in Saucy and previous releases
the edges were aligned properly. See attached screenshots.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1306417] [NEW] Lockscreen can be bypassed after screen has blanked

2014-04-11 Thread Sami Jaktholm
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Lock the screen
2. Let the lockscreen blank
3. Press ALT+TAB

What happens:
The application switcher appears and it's possible to switch between
applications. The chosen application will get keyboard focus and any input will
go there.

What should happen:
Nothing. Lockscreen should grab the keyboard and stop the input from going
anywhere.

This has security implications. For example it's possible to open the
Run command view and run unity --replace to destroy the lockscreen
and open the session.

Bug description:
The Super-W keystroke sometimes opens the dash instead of showing all
windows. The behavior seems to depend on how long you hold down the
super key. Tapping + releasing both the super key and w key will open
the dash. Holding down the super key for more than about 0.5sec will
open the spread, no matter how long you hold down the w key.

Oddly I can't reproduce the problem with other super- keystrokes such
as Super-S or Super-T. It only happens with Super-W. A quick tap of
Super-S will reliably open expo mode.

  To reproduce:
  1) Quickly tap Super-W

  Expected results:
  The spread opens

  Actual results:
  The dash opens

I can reproduce this on multiple keyboards from different
manufacturers, so I don't think it's anything unique to the keyboard
  itself.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1283786] [NEW] The title of unfocused maximized window remains in panel when it's closed with LIM enabled

Left clicking launcher icons only works once on specific dual monitor
  setups

Status in Unity:
  Incomplete
Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I'm using a dual monitor setup with 1680x1050 and 2560x1440 screens.
When the 1440p is aligned to the right or below the other screen, and the
launcher is just on the 1440p screen, each individual icon on the launcher only
reacts to a left click once. After that, left clicking does not launch the
application anymore but middle, right click and dragging the icon still works.
Having the 1440p on the left or above the other screen does not cause this bug.
Also having the launcher placed on both screens at the same time does not cause
it.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1254281] Re: Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full screen

2013-11-24 Thread Sami Jaktholm
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

This is probably a duplicate of bug 1240595 (though you shouldn't really see it
with chromium). Please test if you can reproduce the issue with following
applications (if not this is definitely a duplicate of bug 1240595):
- totem (Videos in dash)
- firefox
- chromium-browser
- mplayer (not installed by default)
- vlc (not installed by default)

Also, please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather
debugging information, in a terminal:
apport-collect 1254281

Launch and global menu bars get invisible when returning from full

Bug description:
After I connect an external monitor (using it on left) to my LG S1
Express Dual laptop and try to see something in full screen on the
laptop monitor everything works fine. However, when I press ESC to
return from full screen the launch and global menu bars get invisible,
and I need to press super key (for example) to get them back. This
situation is observed with any applications (e.g., chromium , document
  viewer).

This didn't happen in the previous ubuntu version, but it is happening
  now in Ubuntu 13.10.
