[Dx-packages] [Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
Please remember that this is not a forum thread but a bug report so listing problems in one bug is not constructive. If you could create a separate bug report for each specific issue, recheck them too as I think one is already reported. ** Changed in: indicator-bluetooth (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: just upgraded to 13.10 on an EEEPC 1000H. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
The reason for the last comment is that apparently many issues seem to be related by higher level tools using wrong (maybe old?) interfaces for low level operation, as the strace indicates for bluedevil. The fact that the same kind of issues are present using both the unity indicator interface and the kde bluedevil interface seems to me an interesting symptom for developers. The fact that there is no bluetooth applet to test with the most current higher level tools is reported because it makes testing more difficult. In any case, please let me know if it is better/OK if I close this bug as invalid and open - one for bluetooth applet missing - one for bluedevil not working - one for indicator bluetooth not working -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: just upgraded to 13.10 on an EEEPC 1000H. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
Yes just close this bug as invalid You should always check if bugs have already been reported and also you need to avoid generic 'not working' or 'broken' as each reported bug needs a single specific issue. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs The bluetooth-applet has been replaced by bluetooth-indicator so not a bug here but see #1198539 The indicator-bluetooth 'send file' bug see #1148033 The indicator-bluetooth 'browse files' bug looks new and I saw the same issue however it opened Nautilus once connected to device. If the timeout issue using dun was in indicator-bluetooth then report that here too bluedevil issues should be checked for existing reported to that packages bug page: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bluedevil -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: just upgraded to 13.10 on an EEEPC 1000H. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1242462] Re: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy
... and there is more! in kubuntu bluedevil cannot add bluetooth DUN connections. You can see this easily. If you run bluedevil-network-dun manually, with the address of your device. A notification that the device is being set up is provided, but nothing happens, no plan is being asked. If you strace the command you see that it ends up invoking some misterious command that should take as parameters create --type bluetooth --specific-args dun but no proper command name is passed to the execve! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-bluetooth in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242462 Title: bluetooth seems badly broken in saucy Status in “indicator-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: just upgraded to 13.10 on an EEEPC 1000H.
