[Dx4win] ts940

2002-01-25 Thread Robert C De Grippo
I have all the paper work manual etc.. bought it in 1993 still used and hooked
up for DX4WIN with a FT990.
It cost $55 back then and what was so neat about it was the abality to use it
with any radio, just set the jumpers.

So what do you need?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN Backup

2002-01-25 Thread Ron Tivey
Hello to all,

Every so often I do something really dumb, today is one of those times.

I was working on a program bug and my computer locked up. No problem,
Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart. Then I opened dx4win and of course I got the
backup message but here's where the NO-Brainer steps in. I hit "NO" not
remembering that I worked 4 new ones on 6M yesterday so of course the
computer does what my wife won't, it carries on with my command...

Question of the day, Can I recover that file and restore the backup
with the contacts from yesterday or are they in never never land?

Thanks,

Ron the "OOPS I can't believe I did that!!" N4GFO

[Dx4win] File Merge Problem: Gibberish in Call Notes

2002-01-25 Thread Joe Giacobello, K2XX
Paul, you were right, but the cure didn't work.

I did a search for QSOs containing the gibberish and found 14 QSOs, which I
deleted. The gibberish still persists.

The gibberish does not appear in the original imported HS0ZCK file. Nor
does it appear in my K2XX backup file. The QSOs without any call also do
not appear in these files. However, when I merge them both the gibberish
and the 14 QSOs without any call appear. Again, deleting those QSOs does
not eliminate the gibberish. Incidentally, when those QSOs are displayed,
they are filled with ASCII squares and other unusual characters.

Is it possible that there is a bug in the "Merge DX4WIN file" routine? Is
there another way I can merge the two files without using that command?

On another issue, is there a way to save the QSOs from a search as a
separate log file?

Tnx for ur help.

[Dx4win] Packet Screen fonts

2002-01-25 Thread Bob, N5RP
Is it not possible to use the slashed zero (K9YY) font in the packet screen
window?
I can select it as an available font, and use it in the data/QSO entry,
but do not see it as an available font for the packet spots display.
Tnx,

[Dx4win] Reinstalling

2002-01-25 Thread Louis Sica. Jr.
Hello all,

Due to hardware failure, I have to reinstall windows and all my other apps
on a new hard drive. I can pull specific files from one hard drive to
another. When I reinstall DX4Win on my new hard drive, what files do I need
to move to keep all my data, parameters, and settings?

Ron
I am by no means an expert in this but have made so many mistakes that I
usually am in the been there done that capacity. Be sure Dx4Win is
closed.Go into Window Explorer / program files/ save folder and look for you
log file name with ~xl extension. Double click on that file and hope that
when it opens it is still there.

[Dx4win] Byterunner USB-4COM-110V Experience ??

2002-01-25 Thread <[EMAIL PROTECTED] (John F. Samuels)
I haven't used one of those, but have an adapter from BAFO which supplies
one COM port from a USB slot. I've used it for packet and my cellular
telephone (data at 19.6 KB) very successfully. Cost about $20.

I looked at the Byte Runner site and the subject adapter. Looks good and
I've heard that Byte Runner stands behind their devices. There's a 30 day
return policy if you're not satisfied with it.

Looks just like what I'll need for my laptop to control my TS-870, rotator,
packet, RTTY and CW keying. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
