[Dx4win] Soundcard Question.....
The upgrade to 6.02 is working fine here, thanks to the software writers for a job well done! The ability to access a second soundcard is great, particularly when running PSK31 and having the spots being announced via the second soundcard at the same; however, is it possible to configure DX4WIN to have that happen *all the time*, i.e. have all the packet voice announcements routed directly to the second soundcard ? It appears there must be a routine in DX4WIN for that to happen, but I could see no mention of it in the win.ini file so presume this is happening elsewhere under Windows (WIN98 SE in my case) ? My second soundcard, a Yamaha DX-SG, has a speaker plugged in it and that works when my TV tuner card is in use, also DX4WIN voice announcements are somehow routed to it when my Soundblaster 16 card (an old ISA unit) is running PSK31. But what I would like to do is have *all* my DX4WIN voice announcements routed through the other card. Anyone any ideas please? 73 es thanks Steve GW4BLE
[Dx4win] Dupes
Hi, Thanks very much for all of your responses regarding eliminating duplicate contacts from a single DX4WIN log. Actually, the correct response to my question is no. There is no utility or process for eliminating duplicate contacts within a single DX4WIN log. One can create additional logs and merge. Import or export. Or whatever. When one introduces other logs via the ADIF process, it gets even more complex and less reliable. In the end, this is a great weakness of the DX4WIN programs, although there are an enormous number of strengths. At any rate, thanks for the advice. 73s, Rick WO8L
[Dx4win] DX Spots Window
Hello, last Feb. 15 I posted the following message: Another observation is that all spots from internet are lost after exit from DX4WIN. When I use my normal set-up to the local DC-cluster via 144 MHz spots remain. Now the two cases are identical i.e. spots are lost when opening DX4WIN again, v 6.02. I have the impression that it was ok in the beginning, there are spots saved from from Feb. 9 and 10. This has nothing to do with checking 'Leave all windows in original position' in Preferences/Screen. I think it is of value to save earlier spots in this window to check where a station has been operating etc. Paul, please put it back in the next version, it works ok in v 5.03. Now, I got the idea to reinstall 6.02 and found that it didn't help. In DX4WIN.put there are a bunch of spots from start and they remain but all spots added, coming from internet or local 144 MHz link, are gone after restarting DX4WIN. I got one answer from AD1C/Jim who has not this problem. Are there no others but me having the problem? Using W98SE. I think this reply is misleading. It is trivial to eliminate dupes, if one is referring to exact duplicate log entries. It is simply a matter of merging the log into a new file which eliminates all dupes in one pass. Takes a few seconds... -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: February 20, 2003 5:17 PM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Dupes Hi, Thanks very much for all of your responses regarding eliminating duplicate contacts from a single DX4WIN log. I do not have this problem... Rick, Please send me your log containing some duplicate QSOs (in a ZIP archive please). I'm surprised that the procedure I gave you would not eliminate the duplicates. Please also mention a few pairs of QSOs that are duplicates. Paul

In Preferences | Packet1 | make sure you have the options box labeled Backup DX spots checked. That will save the spots up to the number in the Preferences | Packet2 | scrollback capacity for DX spots box. 73, -=Rog-K9RB=- Sure wish the separate COM port selection for PSK31 PTT and CW keying are restored as well as fixing the Kenwood VFO B non=activation for split frequency spots..The upgrade took me two features backwards. Both worked great before V.6.xx..Wayne.Help please! - Original Message - From: Erik Hyllander [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 11:40 AM Subject: [Dx4win] DX Spots Window Hello, last Feb. 15 I posted the following message: Another observation is that all spots from internet are lost after exit from DX4WIN. Paul, It would be nice if Dx4Win remembered its last position on the screen as well as whicn monitor it was running on in a multimonitor system when it is restarted. Thanks. Ted, W2ZK

Check that the DX4WIN.put file isn't set read only (right click it in explorer and check the attributes, or use the 'ATTRIB DX4WIN.PUT' command in a DOS window. If it's read-only, DX4WIN can't update it. -Rick
[Dx4win] Kenwood Radio control
I have seen a couple of posts regarding problems with 6.02 controlling Kenwood radios. I had a problem with my 570S/G, and re-wrote a control file for the radio. I have attached the file to this note. If you wish to use it, you should copy it to the Radios file in your DX4WIN sub-directory, and then select it in preferences. I noticed that the sequence of commands sent to my 570 was changed since version 5.03, which has caused the problems that many of you may be seeing with controlling your Kenwood radios. The file I attached works with 570's, 870's and I believe that it should work with 2000 and 950 as well. I'm sure that Paul is aware of the change in the sequence of commands that has occurred, and if it gets changed back in 6.03 to the sequence that was written into 5.03, than the file that I have attached will most likely cause you problems! At that time, if problems occur, you should switch to a stock radio file in preferences. Hope this helps. 73 de Don W0DJC [GENERAL] MODEL=Kenwood 570 NOTES=Kenwood without S meter DATE=37606 FLOW= 5.00E+0001 FHIGH= 6.00E+0004 ADDR=0 BAUD=9600 DATAB=1 STOPB=0 CFMT=1 CORDER=0 REV=0 OFSET=1 PABLE= CNFL=0 RMUL= 1.00E+ WMUL= 1.00E+ RITSCL= 1.00E+ SMSCL= 4.00E-0001 FILEINTERFACE= [MODES] AM=5;5;N CW=3,7;3,7;N FM=4;4;N RTTY=6,9;6,9;N SSB=1,2;1,2;N [RC-Clear Clarifier] CSTR=RC; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Init] CSTR=AI0; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Read ID] CSTR=ID; LEN=6 LOC=Other [RC-Read VFO A] CSTR=FA; LEN=14 LOC=VFO B [RC-Read VFO A Xtra] CSTR=IF; LEN=38 LOC=VFO AB [RC-Read VFO B] CSTR=FB; LEN=14 LOC=VFO B [RC-Select VFO A] CSTR=fr0;ft1; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Select VFO B] CSTR=FR1; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Set Mode] CSTR=MD0; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Set Split off] CSTR=FR0; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Set VFO A] CSTR=FA000; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RC-Set VFO B] CSTR=FB000; LEN=0 LOC=Other [RF-Clarifier] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=String POS=19 LM=5 [RF-Current VFO] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=String POS=3 LM=11 [RF-Current VFO is A] CMD=No Command FMT=BCD POS=0 LM=0 [RF-Current VFO is B] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=Flag POS=31 LM=1 [RF-ID] CMD=Read ID FMT=String POS=3 LM=3 [RF-Mode] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=String POS=30 LM=1 [RF-RIT] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=Flag POS=24 LM=1 [RF-S meter] CMD=No Command FMT=String POS=0 LM=0 [RF-Sign Clarifier] CMD=No Command FMT=Flag POS=0 LM=0 [RF-Split mode] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=Flag POS=33 LM=1 [RF-VFO A] CMD=Read VFO A FMT=String POS=3 LM=11 [RF-VFO B] CMD=Read VFO B FMT=String POS=3 LM=11 [RF-Write ID] CMD=No Command FMT=Byte-M POS=0 LM=0 [RF-Write Mode] CMD=Set Mode FMT=String POS=3 LM=1 [RF-Write VFO A] CMD=Set VFO A FMT=String POS=3 LM=11 [RF-Write VFO B] CMD=Set VFO B FMT=String POS=3 LM=11 [RF-XIT] CMD=Read VFO A Xtra FMT=Flag POS=25 LM=1 --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/mixed text/plain (text body -- kept) text/plain (text body -- kept) The reason this message is shown is because the post was in HTML or had an attachment.
