[Dx4win] Help: Yaesu FT-897 CAT control not communicating with DX4Win

2003-03-03 Thread Erik Mellgren
Thank you all for useful information that helped me to solve my problem for
the Yaesu FT-897 rig control.

The solution as suggested:

Use the "Yaesu FT847.RIG" file in the DX4WIN/Radio archive and make a copy
that is renamed to "Yaesu FT897.RIG"

With Word Pad the file is edited as follows:

[[GENERAL]
MODEL=Yaesu FT897"New name"
NOTES=Experimental   "New comment"
DATE=36536
FLOW= 1.00E+0002
FHIGH= 4.70E+0005"470 MHz high frequency"
BAUD=4800   "Tested also 9600 and 34200 OK"
DATAB=1
STOPB=1"2 stop bits as per manual
also OK"
.
Save this file and restart DW4WIN.
Now you should find FT897 in the window "Preferences/Radio". I have clicked
DTR and RTS buttons high.

The rig will be in "Locked" mode after starting the radio by DX4WIN. If you
unlock by pressing the rig button "Lock" the rig will be unlocked and manual
tuning, mode change etc. etc. will be available.

Everything except the DX4WIN radio panorama function seems to be working as
specified. It seems as the S-meter data is not interpreted by DX4WIN,
scanning and frequency update is running OK.

[Dx4win] Minor bugs & wishlist

2003-03-03 Thread Mel Martin (VE2DC)
There is a sort of kluge... Put $$ (the current frequency macro) into
QSO...Contest Mode... Text... (hardly intuitive!) and it puts the
frequency into the QSO notes field. Much better than nothing, but I've
been trying to convince Paul to "format" the notes field into separate
fields for frequency/name/other-info for years... Much easier for
import/export and macros...

C'mon paul... Do it for version 7...

Minor bugs report for 6.02:

When a progress report is selected, the displayed *frequencies* in MHz
(not bands in meters) are cut off so that 1.8 MHz is displayed as .8 MHz

and 3.7 as .7 MHz. Incidentally, shouldn't the progress report's
WkdTotal reflect the actual worked total (a sum of worked + sent +
confirmed), as opposed to worked + sent - confirmed?

Also, since I only recently subscribed to the reflector, I don't know
whether this has been brought up before or even beat up to death, but
are you ever planning to implement the actual frequency display instead
of (or in addition to) just bands? And, yes, I know about the Ctrl-R;
that just doesn't cut it, unfortunately. I don't see how adding this can

hurt the program - if anything, your revenue can only increase.

Some other stuff I'd like to see: ability to index the Logbook by QSL
Mgr, ability to resize columns in Logbook, radio buttons for frequently
used functions, program maintaining Contest mode and Special keys after
restarting, support for the W9XT contest card.

Thanks for reading,

[Dx4win] Band switching FT1000

2003-03-03 Thread G4IRN
I use a Yaesu FT1000MP Mk5 Field. When selecting the band from the front =
panel switches, the antenna previously selected for that band =
automatically
switches in. (i.e. antenna A for 80/40/30 and antenna B for 20 to 10).

When I double click a spot in DX4WIN, the rig automatically QSY's to the =
spot frequency, HOWEVER the antenna does not change. So if I have been =
on
10m and QSY the rig using DX4WIN to 80mtrs, I have the incorrect antenna =
selected.

Not a major problem, but a small iritation. Any one know of a way round =
this? A menu selection in the FT1000 maybe?

Thanks, John. G4IRN.

That's what I meant by Ctrl-R. A duct tape approach in the otherwise
superior program, sort of like duct-taping a tailpipe on a shiny new
Porsche.

Or for 6.1. Either is fine...

[Dx4win] Clearing QSO notes field

2003-03-03 Thread Randy Lake
I have 3305 contacts with info in the QSO notes field and would like to =
clear them all. I have given all of those contacts the same group =
number..I have exported that group as a .CSV file but cannot figure out =
how to merge it back in. If you can do global changes from within DX4WIN =
I can't figure it out
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

[Dx4win] Clearing QSO notes field

2003-03-03 Thread Paul van der Eijk
Randy,

1. Export you file using the latest dx4win filter.
2. Edit the file .dxq; QSO info is followed by note
3. Make a copy of your log (or save as some different)
4. Delete all QSOs (this will keep the group names etc)
5. Import using the edited file from step2 using the same dx4win filter

Paul
