[Dx4win] Vista and serial ports
I saw Guy's comment below regarding Vista not supporting serial or parallel ports. As I see it there are three ways of providing serial ports 1) On the motherboard 2) From a PCI card 3) From a USB converter Will Vista prevent the use of **ALL** of these, if not which will still be available? 73, Dave, G3UEG Subject: RE: [Dx4win] USB-Parallel adaptors Tony, buy a PCI 2 LPT expansion board don't now any USB to LPT that works with all I/O BTW Vista isn't supporting LPT or Serial only USB 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B RITTY CW RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm
[Dx4win] 4U60UO (France) - November 4/5, 2006
http://www.arrl.org/?artid=6906 Special event 4U60UO to mark UNESCO 60th anniversary celebration (Oct 27, 2006) -- Members of the Association of Radioamateurs of Paris (ARP) will operate special event station 4U60UO to mark the conclusion of the 60-week long 60th anniversary celebration of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The station will be on the air from UNESCO Headquarters in Paris Saturday and Sunday, November 4-5. 4U60UO will operate all modes -- including CW, SSB, SSTV, PSK31, satellites and hamDRM -- and all bands from 1.8 MHz to 47 GHz (except for 6 meters). Chartered November 16, 1945, UNESCO marked its 60th anniversary by selecting 60 themes to highlight the 60 weeks between September 5, 2005, and November 4, 2006. A special QSL and certificate will be available from ARP.--Laurent Beugnet, F6GOX -- Jim Reisert AD1C, 7 Charlemont Court, North Chelmsford, MA 01863 USA +978-251-9933, [EMAIL PROTECTED], http://www.ad1c.us From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Nov 1 09:51:13 2006 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (ON4AOI) Date: Wed Nov 1 09:58:31 2006 Subject: [Dx4win] Vista and serial ports In-Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Message-ID: [EMAIL PROTECTED] David, USB to SERIAL is supported But didn't found any drivers for PCI serial or LPT boards Maybe it will be supported by programs that need it for There hardware but then probably only for there software. That's also one of the reasons that the latest motherboards Don't have any Serial or LPT ports on board anymore. 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B RITTY CW RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Gould Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2006 11:07 AM To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: [Dx4win] Vista and serial ports I saw Guy's comment below regarding Vista not supporting serial or parallel ports. [Dx4win] Incorrect data in qso window
While logging in real time using version 7.02 with the packet cluster running the band and mode of the spots is somehow crossing over and changing the band and mode in the qso window. After a second or two it reverts back to the band and mode the radio is parked on. This should not happen when dx4win is being run in Real Time. Consequently this will lead to logging errors. Anyone have any ideas what may be causing this crossover? This happens on every spot which crosses the cluster. 73 john-n4dsp -- I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me. --General George S. Try the following Make a copy of the original rigfile and rename it With a text editor change the following in the copied rigfile From [RF-Current VFO] CMD=Read VFO A FMT=BCD-R POS=6 LM=5 To [RF-Current VFO] CMD=Read VFO A FMT=BCD-R POS=7 LM=4 Look also @ the beginning of the file for these settings CNFL=6 RMUL= 1.00E-0001 WMUL= 1.00E+ Select now the changed file in dx4win and do some tests above 15 meter Hope this helps 73 Guy ON4AOI BAND DECODER and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/banddecoder.htm DX4WIN soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dx4win.htm DX4WIN, WRITELOG, WF1B RITTY CW RTTY interfaces at http://www.on4aoi.be/keyer.htm ARSWIN link and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/web7.htm DXTELNET soft and related stuff at http://www.on4aoi.be/dxt.htm -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Stoneking Sent: Wednesday, November 01, 2006 1:31 AM To: DX4win Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] 756 ProIII and RigTalk USB interface More info. Using the File-Databases-Radios menu option I was able to see some of the information going back and forth between computer and radio. The first thing I had to do was change the Read multiplier from 1.0 to 0.01 to get the frequency to display correctly - sort of. This value seems to work for any frequency up to 21,474.83kHz. At 21,474.84 kHz the reported frequency is -21,474.83kHz and the number continues to go up (toward zero), at 42,949.67kHz the Edit Radio dialog box reports -0.00. As you increase the frequency from there the reported frequency goes back up (e.g. 42,949.68kHz is reported as 0.1). Here is a little bit more info that I do have. Clicking on a packet spot correctly sets the rig frequency and mode. (e.g. 18,101.30 USB) If I then select Radio-Set Frequency the box pops up with the current frequency and mode displayed.(e.g.. 18,101.3) If I then click the Read button, or if I just wait for a little bit (polling time in radio setup?) it changes. (e.g. 1810,130.00) If I change the frequency on the radio the Radio Frequency Control box will update, but always with a bad freq (e.g. change to 14.336.68 and the frequency in the dialog box says 1433,668.00). Closing the dialog box and clicking Radio-Set Frequency brings the box back up with the correct frequency (14,336.68) but it then changes to the wrong
