[Dx4win] DX4WIN 7.03 hesitation/stuttering
I have noticed some stuttering and hesitation when using WIN's message buffers for CW and RTTY. Messages being played out are sometimes delayed for a second or two before starting or messages are being broken up or hesitating when playing out. This is quite annoying, of course, in a contest situation and leads to repeats being called for. This problem was mentioned sometime back and prior to release 7.03 but I don't think there was a definitive answer given. It seems to me that WIN or Windows XP might be giving priority to other tasks but when a message is being played out that task should have relatively high priority. I realize there might be better choices for a contesting logging program but when WIN is used for contesting in a less serious way surely there must be a way to stop all of the hesitation and stuttering. Is there a solution? Jerry N8BM

Hi Jerry, What version are you running ? I run DX4WIN 7.0.3.16 and there is no hesitation At all, not in CW or RTTY(MMTTY) Perhaps you have a radio connected where the polling is to Quickly or the response to slow. I don't remember what's in my queue, but there will be an update for the Canadian Islands Award (CISA). I am going to try to release two versions of the DX4WIN.TCP file: - one that has "keep alive" turned on - one that does not have "keep alive" (same as current version) 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us
[Dx4win] DX4WIN.CTY Release #41 - third call
I've updated the release notes again for DX4WIN.CTY #41: http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/history.htm#41 I still have not updated the QSL managers (yet). Hope to get to that in a few hours. If you have any additions/corrections, please let me know SOON! 73 - Jim AD1C -- Jim Reisert AD1C, <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, http://www.ad1c.us
[Dx4win] Digital shortcut keys
Somebody out there has to have an answer as to why in PSK31 mode, F1 through F6 work, and F7 and F8 do not. And CTRL-F1 works, but CTRL-F2 through CTRL-F8 do not. I have a sneaking suspicion that when I edited my %18, so I was not Paul in Annandale anymore, that everything went haywire. Unfortunately I cannot remember how I did that edit, but perhaps I entered a message to long for the buffers? I have completely rebuilt the system, only to end right back where I was this weekend. On a side note, since the same issue is occurring with the MMTTY pre-canned keys, is there an easy way to chat via keyboard entry in MMTTY mode while in DX4WIN? I use a manual footswitch to enter XMIT mode, and in PSK31, it is simply pressing the footswitch, and typing. But in RTTY mode, I must go to the MMTTY window, and hit the TX button, and then type. I am a little confused on the VOX/PTT settings, because I use a manual foot switch, but it seems like I cannot make MMTTY an automated process. Any enlightenment appreciated. Mark WA0MHJ

I've updated the QSL manager changes. Hope to release this Tuesday night. 73 - Jim AD1C p.s. if anyone has trouble reading this message (i.e. the text is all wrapped together, no line breaks, etc.), please let me know off-list and tell me which program you use to read E-mail. It looks OK to me in Yahoo! mail, but all messed up in Eudora. I may have to go back to using the pre-beta Yahoo! mail. - Original Message From: Jim Reisert AD1C <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: dx4win@mailman.qth.net Sent: Monday, July 30, 2007 3:54:30 PM Subject: DX4WIN.CTY Release #41 - third call I've updated the release notes again for DX4WIN.CTY #41: http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/history.htm#41 I still have not updated the QSL managers (yet). May be you missed something in the F-keys buffers. To start the transmission in the DX4WIN's PSK and MMTTY windows, you must put %X (% upper-case X) in the buffer.
