[Dx4win] Updated DX4WIN Release Notes

2008-09-09 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C

I updated the DX4WIN release notes on my web site to include 7.05:

  http://dx4win.ad1c.us/release.htm

Unlike the version history on http://www.dx4win.com, this one goes back
to version 5.01.

I wrote:

up as CW, not SSB.
2. QSO Modes are not sorted.
3. DX4WIN.MAS is not found, no matter where I put it. Error, "File not
found, no calls loaded," whenever I start DX4WIN and box does not show
anything.

John, K2CIB

Thanks, Jim, for setting me straight on numbers 1 and 2. I still have a
problem with DX4WIN.MAS, which works fine in 7.03 and does not in 7.05 (same
file, same computer). I did follow all the directions in finding,
downloading and installing it.

[Dx4win] QRZ Data

2008-09-09 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Guys, I hate to ask this question because, according to the archives and Jim's
website, the
problem was resolved in 2006. However, I can't get QRZ to work with my 7.0.3
version. I tried
installing it in the root of my C drive and also the default location. I have
also tried 2
different qrz32.dll files, but I am still geting the error that it can't find
the data. The QRZ
CDROM is the summer 2008 version.
Any ideas what I need to try next?

Re: [Dx4win] Sorting of QSL labels

2008-09-09 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
DX4WIN has an interesting sorting feature. A call like HB0/DL7ON will be
sorted with the other DL (Germany) calls instead of the HB0 (Liechtenstein)
calls. This gets the QSL card to the right place. It means the QSL manager
database doesn't need to have entries like "HB0/DL7ON via DL7ON" (i.e. via home
call). Of course, if HB0/DL7ON has a QSL manager listed in the database, that
will be used instead.

Re: [Dx4win] Import Function Question

2008-09-09 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Lou,

The "Options for Duplicate QSOs" pop-up has a scroll bar on the right side that
you can use to see the rest of the choices, including the one you're looking
for. However, that scroll bar is almost invisible in 7.05, I hadn't noticed
this in earlier betas. You can use the up/down arrow keys to see the choices
instead of the scrollbar.

Guys,

Did I miss something?...I tried importing from LOTW...using File] Import ]
File ] Import ] ADIF...

In version 4, one of the options for Duplicate QSOs is "Imported QSO sets
Upload Confirmed Flag"...this option is missing in version 5...

Is there a new way of handling the ADIF file from LOTW?Thanks...

[Dx4win] DX4WIN and Vista

2008-09-09 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

On the DX4WIN download page, Paul writes:

Installation instructions for Windows Vista:

[...]

1. Start the installation program, dx4w705.exe, with a right mouse click and
select ‘run as Administrator’

2. Install DX4WIN in the root directory of your C drive, c:\dx4w705 (not the
proposed Program Files\dx4w705 directory)

3. If you do not need printer port access for CW via LPT, a band decoder etc.
you can start DX4WIN from the program menu. You will get a warning that some
driver cannot be copied.

4. If you need access to the LPT port, start DX4WIN as an Administrator.
(Select DX4WIN, right mouse click, Run as Administrator.) You will have to do
this every time you start DX4WIN.

In my previous experience with Vista (my login account had Administrator
privileges), running as Administrator is not necessary in step #1 above. And
step #4 above is only needed the first time, in order to copy the LPT driver.
Subsequent times, you don't need to do this.

Is that true for anyone else, or are all the steps above required, as written?

[Dx4win] DX4WIN country file

2008-09-09 Thread Isidro Acosta Hernández

Hi, Jim.

MNI TNX for the new country file!

Can you tell me/us what prefixes did you add to the file? so I can add them
to my own file (I don't want to import exception calls or managers of all
those stations I never worked...).

TNX also for the AWD and TCP updating...

Re: [Dx4win] Version 7.05 Problems

Regarding #2, the modes are sorted.

The modes you have checked (enabled) in your QSO preferences come up first
(sorted), then the remaining modes follow (also sorted).

There's a check box in the preferences to control this.

Go to File -> Preferences, click on the Packet1 tab, and uncheck the box that
says, "Update QSO Window".

Regarding #3 below, the master file is not distributed with DX4WIN. Go to
http://dx4win.ad1c.us to find instructions for downloading and installing it.
It *does* work with 7.05, I just checked.

[Dx4win] ADIF IMPORT ANOMALY

2008-09-09 Thread Stefano Cipriani

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the 7.05 release.
But You forgot to fix the ADIF IMPORT routine.
I send again to You my email of Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
So if You want however to import the ,
(unnecessary for Dx4win), please redirect it to "Notes for
this QSO" field, and NOT to "Notes for this Call".
Usually I must use montly the Adif Import , to exchange and sincronize
data from T77C, T77CD, KH6ZM and KH6YR logs, and I must
modify the received files to avoid that the "Notes for this Call" not be
populated from unrelated data.
Please remember this "request"..
Thanks, 73

Subject: ADIF IMPORT ANOMALY

Hi Paul,
The field was recently included in the Adif export routine.
This is a very helpful add-on!!
Unfortunately, the import routine does NOT work on intelligent way.
In fact it should ignore this field, because dx4win have a separate qsl
manager database!!
Instead it loads the on the first part of "Notes for
this call", before the name of the operator, ruining all the data file.
The only way to have a clean import is to edit the exported file with a
text editor, to change the label with <_QSLVIA>.

Can we hope to have this bug fixed as soon as possible?
Thanks Paul
