[Dx4win] Problem with adif to dx4win conversion

2010-01-20 Thread Bill Barr, N4NX
Ok, what did I do wrong?

I downloaded Jim's latest conversion tool and tested it on a previous contest (
ARRL RTTY ROUNDUP 2010 ). My Contest logging software is WinTEST. My current
version of DX4win is 8.03 ( Although I think I might have a problem with it
since I can't seem to access packet ).

1. I moved my contest adif file to the save folder under 8.03.

2. I started the conversion tool. and told it to use the format of DX4WIN6 (
even though I am running dx4win version 8 ) . Jim's instructions say to use
DX4WIN6 when importing?

3. The window in the conversion tool indicated that all my QSOs were written,
but it also listed every QSO in the log with a notation "is missing received
data"

3. I confirmed that the tool did create a .dxq file under the same save folder.

4. I then did an import into dx4win using the import/filters ID of DX4WIN6 (
Again per instructions ) I used "overwrite current QSOs" because I had
previously loaded this file into DX4WIn ( You might ask why I would do
this---The answer is because the original import did not populate the state
column, it only populated the received column with the state. )

5. The import result was that indeed it completed the import and the only
issue is now neither the state column or the received column is populated (
Hence the original error message "is missing received data". The note column
was populated with the note I had entered into the conversion tool.

What am I missing. Any help appreciated.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with adif to dx4win conversion

2010-01-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Sorry, Bill. The instructions are unclear. I'll fix the web just
after I hit the SEND button.

There is a "Format" selection box in the program (DX4WIN6 or DX4WIN8).
The default is DX4WIN8, so you have to import using that format. If
you change it to DX4WIN6 (because you're using an older version of
DX4WIN), then you have import in that format.

Re: [Dx4win] CW Keying - 8.03

2010-01-20 Thread ON4AOI
Steve,
The biggest problem with this is that we can not
Reproduce or simulate it, I tested it on more then 10
Computers with different OS and onboard comports
And also USB to serial adapters.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with adif to dx4win conversion

2010-01-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Bill, I understand the problem now. I have only tested with N1MM and WriteLog.

The instructions on the web specifically say:

"The program recognizes application-specific ADIF fields used in N1MM
and WriteLog and uses them to determine the contest exchange. DX4WIN
would otherwise just ignore them."

And in the "Support" section, I added:

"I've only tested with very recent versions of WriteLog and N1MM. If
the conversion doesn't go the way you expect, send me the .ADI file
and I'll try to fix it."

So bottom line is Win-Test is NOT supported, but now that I have your
log, I can add support for this one contest, more as people send me
logs for other contests.

[Dx4win] ADIF to DX4WIN log conversion version 4.5 released

2010-01-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I have released version 4.5 of ADIF to DX4WIN, you can get it here:

   http://dx4win.ad1c.us/adif2dxq/

Here are the release notes:

Ver 4.5 - 21 January 2009
Added NM QSO Party
Added Win-Test support for ARRL RTTY Round-Up and NAQP

Thanks to Bill N4NX for motivating me to add some Win-Test support.
If you want a Win-Test log converted and this program doesn't work as
expected, *please* send me the ADIF file.

If you find any problems in the program or documentation, let me know.
If you need a conversion added, send me your ADIF file and tell me
what contest it is for, and which logging program produced it.

Re: [Dx4win] Window Size Creep

2010-01-20 Thread Paul van der Eijk
The problem seems to be when you use skins and run your screen
resolution in 96 DPI.

Using skins with 120 DPI does not show this problem.

The company that sold me the skins package does not answer emails, so a
solution may not be so trivial ;)
