[Dx4win] DX SPOTTING PATTERNS

2005-03-04 Thread Donald McCoy
For the past year or so when I spot DX on the Packet Window they do not
transfer to the DX Spots by time window. Years ago it worked fine. John,
K2CIB offered help saying his preferences are not set to display band/mode
but his still disappears too. I'm set for Band/Mode/Call. Now if I do
TE1ST and the frequency etc. it works OK, i.e. it transfers and stays on
the spot window.
I am (still) running Ver. 4.05 and on page 23 of the book it says the last
pattern in Packet 2 is the pattern as transmitted to the cluster. After re
reading the paragraph it looks as if the first 2 lines as coming from the
cluster and line four as transmitted to the cluster which I assume is the
line in question(?). The only line I am clear on is 3, which is for WWV
which I do not mess with. (I have an Atomic Clock program!) I have never
touched any of the default commands. Here is my line up. . Can any one tell
me if this is correct? Could a stray byte changed something at some point?

Line 1: DX DE r: f c q tZ
Line 2: f c d tZ q r
Line 3: r f c q t d
Line 4: DX c f q
Where I left a space there is a Straight Line.

Any reason that you know of why I can't close the packet window or the
DX
spot window? I can minimize, but the windows won't actually close.
The red
X does nothing in either window. Closing down the program and
restarting
doesn't change anything and shutting down the computer for a while
doesn't
 either. Any help please?

They will only minimize, as long as you have a packet connection
defined in

 Hello

I have been using DX4WIN for awhile and just got started with the QSL
labels
 which is working fine here.

Is there a way to print address labels ?

Also, as I work new grids in the four digit format and enter them in
the
grid box, they are saved but the tally is incorrect when I check
progress.
The DXCC total is OK and so is the WAS.

 I am running version 6.03.

 Thanks

[Dx4win] Spot Xfer/Vanish!?

2003-12-03 Thread Donald McCoy
Lately when I spot a DX station on the Packet window it comes up fine. BUT
most times it does not go to the DX Spots by Time window. NOW, I have seen
it go to the By Time window and then DISAPPEAR!! Honest! It had worked
fine on KØMP cluster here in Metro Denver but KØMP shut down about 6 months
ago. (Actually when KØMP was out of town he would shut down the backbone and
then spots did not transfer. He did that so it would not hang up the system
in case of trouble while he was gone.) I then joined N7US cluster which is
in AZ. Jim, N7US and I discussed this problem and he says it is probably a
DX4WIN anomaly. Jim said he checked his end and it looks fine. I am running
DX4WIN Ver 4.05 with a WIN 98SE program. I have checked my preference
settings and read the info on Packet in both my Ver. 1.11 and Ver. 4.0
manuals and did not see any references made to this problem.
Any help appreciated!

A suggestion, try Dimension 4 from Thinkingman Software. It is
freeware
   =20

that checks the nbs system at intervals you select. It is freeware
available
from

I have been using it for a few years without any problems. Keeps the

Joe,

Windows XP includes its own, built-in and automatic, time
synchronization.
You should not need any additional time synching programs when you are
on
XP. To set parameters in XP, double-click on the clock (lower right-hand
corner of the screen) and select the Internet Time tab.

After I click on a spot that is on 15 meters the mode and band keeps
changing. A lot of times it will stop on SAT and log the qso as a SAT and
sometimes RTTY or CW. I have NOT chosen SAT as an operating condition...
So
it should never pick that one. Rig is 756PRO and I only noticed it on 15
meters so far. Version 5.02 of the program.

 Anyone else see this?

I'd like to tap into the expertise of DX4WIN and Writelog users on this
 one...

My venerable SB-220 amplifier has finally gone to the big shack in the sky
after more than 25 years of faithful service. I'm thinking of replacing
it
with an Ameritron 811A or 811H. (I can't run a full legal limit amp in an
 apartment)

 Several questions:

 1. Is there anything I should know about the Ameritron 811 amps? Known
 design flaws, etc?

 2. Do I need Ameritron's Icom interface to use the amp with my IC-765?
 Why or why not?

 3. There are two versions of the QSK option--standalone and PC-board.
What's the difference? (Other than $80-someodd dollars)

 4. What will I need to do for 10 meter operation? Is there a Web site
with
 details of the mod?

Thanks in advance for the bandwidth!

 73,
 Frank

 Bob,
Do you mean actual return address labels with your own address on it -
as
in for your SASE? If so, I don't believe that function exists in DX4Win.
Think you will have to turn to a word processing program (Avery makes a
free
add-in for MS Word) or one of the shareware label programs.
   Good luck.

I think its no possible from dx4win ,but can be done easy in MICROSOFT
WORD
 95-98-2000.
In Word go to TOOLS /ENVELOP AND LABELS ,choose your label or create a new
 one and
next NEW DOCUMENT.There you see the whole page and make one and whit
 copy/paste do
 the otherones.fixed in 1minit.
