Re: [Dx4win] JTAlert and DX4WIN

2018-06-02 Thread Ed Stratton
David, I run WSJT first to get rig control, then run DX4, without rig
control, , click through the com port exception popups and then just
connect with internet spots.
I too just do a import from WSJT into DX4 periodically..

Rick thank you for a technical response. Since you said "The SSL
certificate for the site was issued 3/12/2018, so that's what caused the
issue, not some update to DX4WIN." What was / is different from other
updates for V9, that worked before this SSL certificate of 3/12/2018?
Sorry for the BW, but just curious.

This is not a XP issue, it is a *Paul issue at DX4Win to fix*. If you can
open the www URL at listed, then there is nothing wrong with XP. As an
aside I can update N1MM+ with no issues. And load new versions of WSJT

[Dx4win] radio configuration changes

2018-03-07 Thread Ed Stratton
Not sure if I remember correctly, but is seems in V805 vs current V9
version, that when I click on a spot, the radio would go to the frequency
of the spot, and the radio would also set the receiver bandwidth, say 250
hz.

Same thing change, engaging a internal radio antenna tuner.

basically if in Preferences I have the CW band stop set, I would like to
have the radio upon clicking a spot in the CW band, switch the FTdx5000 for
a CW BW of 250, and with the correct antenna (1-4) for the band.

Is that possible?

Also, where did setting yourself up as an 'ADVANCED' user go to? It was in

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and FT-8

2018-03-06 Thread Ed Stratton
Use option 1, it is the easiest and simplest for the time being.

I also save in WSJT the "date".adi file example March 6 2018.adi

WSJT creates a new log.adi after you rename the uploaded MARCH 6 2018.
adi...

That way you only export/import the last adi log into DX4Win

[Dx4win] Logging FT8 qsos in V9

2018-02-24 Thread Ed Stratton
ok, newbie to FT8. Made my first FT8 Qso last night, I think (lol)

WSJT has the CAT control of my FTdx5000, so when I bring up DX4win, I get
the com error, and just close it a move on, so that DX4Win comes up and
runs normally without CAT radio control.
Not sure if this ok or not, but seems no harm no foul.

My PC is running XP, DX4Win v9, and WSJT.

A few questions:

1), I just did an 'off line' QSO addition to the log file in DX4Win. Is
that how it is done, manually every time? Since you can't 'grab' the WSJT
QSO information with a click to import into DX4Win.

2). I just logged this qso as FT8, with 599s each way.
Did not log the db received information that WSJT provided, I assume that
599 is not the way to report the FT8 levels.

3.) Do you just log all FT8 QSOs in WSJT, and then Export / Import the
WSJT adi file into DX4Win? (just like you would do for N1MM+ etc)
a.) If yes what does the RST send and received look like in DX4Win for
this import? Is there a SCREEN shot I could reference somewhere to visually
look at?

b.) Is yes, after the import into DX4Win, do you go back into WSJT and
clear the .adi log, so that next export / import you don't get a duplicate
message in DX4Win?

4.) I have been reading about JTalert, this program seems to have the
ability to provide a logging 'channel' between WSJT and some other logging
programs. Does or will DX4Win have this capability? Is so is there
documentation available for setup?

5.) Lastly I did see Jim's W10 script for moving qso automatically from
WSJT into DXWin, would that work on XP platform?

Thanks in advance for responses, please do a REPLY ALL, so everyone can
read your responses to my Qs above.

Just load 8.05 on the other  PC and copy your ' SAVE ' folder into the new SAVE

Use the UPDATER program the AD1C has written.
Or go to the qso and edit the qso with the F1 key and choose the SGI.

Re: [Dx4win] Future of DX4WIN

2015-10-18 Thread Ed Stratton
My 2cents,

I have been a user of DX4Win for many years, too many to count.  If there is
such a outcry for a new version or regular maintenance updates, then I suggest
that some of you that want this to happen is to pool your money, buy the source
code, start your own software company and continue on with new versions and
upgrades/updates.
Otherwise move on to another logging program. 73's Ed

programs and works fine - even with Windoze 10.

Hello William,
Some months ago Paul collected some ideas from the reflector to include in
the update that should show up now or than.
I haven't seen substantial requests to modify the software and sincerely,
from my user experience standpoint, what I have is still the best I can find
around.
Because of my work, I'm pretty much involved in software design and it is
not true that the products should be updated if they do exactly what they
should, even if the "general" market floods us with any kind of new software
releases almost daily.
Just my 2 cents

Re: [Dx4win] Weird MMTTY Problem - reversed receive characters

2014-10-16 Thread Ed Stratton
All i have noticed too. the backwards display occurs on my setup after running
fine for several hours, then I notice the characters started to come out
backwords.

The way I was able to correct it was to shutdown the MTTY windows, then reopen
within the DX4Win MTTY window. Then repeat on the any further occurrence.

John, the first thing to try would be to run MMTTY stand-alone to see
if it has the same problem.

[Dx4win] DX4Win

2013-06-17 Thread Ed Stratton

Today I ventured into trying LOTW for the first time.

Using DX4Win 8.05.

I was able to upload my .adi, however the QSO I see in LOTW was from
June-16.2010.

However
I have another ~1000 Qso that seem not to have uploaded?  My last Qso
in DX4Win was yesterday night, June 16-2013?  A Coincidence?

Not sure how "current" their delay announcements are, as a CQWW log
uploaded on 12/1 has yet to be processed.

But on the other hand, DXCC submissions via LoTW are super-fast.  Submitted
my "annual" update last evening at 8:40 and had all accredited at 9:49.

So some parts are working well
