2012-02-26 Thread Jaime P.Ullivarri
Hello,
I have also this lockup problem only with DX4win and Win7-64 and it was
terrible from time to time only when entering a call just got the first
letter and freeze for about 8 seconds, after using DX4win since first
editionI was looking for other Log software for this terrible problem.
Good News! since yesterday after making the USB power modifications from Joe
on Windows I have not experienced any lockup. I am running DX4win as told
C\Dx4win and like, not Administrator Rights, I did try setting as
Administrator on Properties, Compatibility and have suffer once a short 1 to
2 sec Lockup, so I have reverted to normal and at the moments no problems.
I will test with LP-Bridge and similar if not cuts as before dew to this
freeze.
Thanks, 73.

Hi Jim and Joe,

My luck lasted short time. Everything seemed to work FB after application of
all suggested power modifications, but there it is again, some of the
USB/RS232 ports/devices get again inhibited by Windows, though in much
greater time intervals then before (sometimes all OK during 1 hour of
operation, then suddenly SteppIR or antenna rotor stop responding :(

I can't speak to DX4Win as I do not use it or any other USB to

microHAM goes, FTDI have a serious bug in ftd2xx.dll that causes a
lock up when the computer goes into sleep state or turns off power
 to the USB port.

microHAM programmers have recommended uninstalling Router 8.0.7
and replacing it with the older Router 7.7.1 (uses a previous,
stable version of ftd2xx.dll). The information is available from
 the microHAM list at:

Until a new (stable) version of d2xx.dll is available, it is wise
to disable all power controls in the computer and set Windows for

This sounds like a similar problem seen on the microHAM list. You
have configure your USB ports NOT to power down. Joe W4TV (copied)
might be able to give you more details.

Here is my first attempt to create a calendar for DX4WIN. It's
derived from 425 DX News #1060 (
http://www.jdxn.net/dx/110827-425-cal.htm ):

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/calendar.txt

Right-click on the link above and choose Save as. To load the
calendar into DX4WIN, go to File | Calendar then:

File | Import data dd/mm/

(make sure to select this date format, not the mm/dd/ format).

The conversion still needs a little bit of work, this is just to get
started. If you notice any differences between the on-line calendar
and the one in DX4WIN, let me know (there are a lot of different
formats to try to parse). I may find these problems myself, but every
little bit helps.

If people like this, I'll try to incorporate it into the DX4WIN Data
Updater, and try to create the calendar on a weekly basis (I believe
the bulletins come out on Friday). You'll still have to import the
calendar each time (after updating/downloading). Maybe some day tine
future, there will be a way to avoid that last step, but not today.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN and the FLEX-5000C SDR

2011-06-24 Thread Jaime P.Ullivarri
Hi David,
I am using DX4win 8.05 with Win7-64 and a Flex 3000 and is not working
well, there are long pauses and lost of synchrony, I think DX4win not like
Virtual Ports with Win7-64 as VSPE or vspMg and also doesn't work well with
LPbridge and mi K3, HDR and other software no problems. I am awaiting for a
solution or I will have to change to other Log software after many years
(version 1) with DX4win.

Guy, ON4AOI, and others asked for details about my operating system. Running
Win7/64 bit on a bootcamped Mac (Bootcamp is how I run Windows on a Mac OS).
Computer is an iMac desktop with the tower built into the screen. There
are no serial ports on the computer, just several USB ports.

I'm using a Flex 5000A and connect to it to the iMac via Firewire. But the
timeout issued occurred even when I was using an IC-7800, with its own DB9
connector.

Anyone else experience these frequent radio timeout messages?

Tnx!

Re: [Dx4win] Momentary Pauses in Windows 7 Ultimate

2011-04-14 Thread Jaime P.Ullivarri
Hello,
Yes it does to me using Win7-64 Pro and the worst is my radios K3 and Flex
3K when are connected to a virtual ComPort (Lp-Bridge, VSPmanager) when this
pause in DX4win the radio has an error and disconnected of DX4win not with
other software so I don't connect them to DX4win till this problem is
solved.
Exactly the same pause as you.

Subject: [Dx4win] Momentary Pauses in Windows 7 Ultimate

At first, I would be operating CW and find the first time I went to the
CW typing window there would be an accasional pause before the soft-key
content would appear and be sent. I attributed this to the fact I was
using USB-to-serial-to-key keying.

But, it now appears I get this randomly in the behavior of different
windows when they get focus. For example, if I click on a spot that
should take me to a new frequency, the QSO window clears, but the new
entry doesn't popular immediately, just like the CW window didn't
populate with the text from the soft-key press.

In retrospect, I think this also happened in the packet window when I
was getting that set up. Might still happen but I'm not really looking
at it to see it.

I only see this on change of window focus to an input-type window, that
is a window that wold let me type into it.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
