It's been a crazy last couple of weeks, but I hope to release data
updates tonight (after 04z 6 Dec.):

 - country file (includes QSL managers and manager addresses)
 - award database
 - membership list (eQSL and LoTW users)
 - master callsigns (from contest Super Check Partial)

The list of DX cluster nodes is updated constantly. Several nodes
have dropped off recently, most notably K1EA after over twenty years
 of service.

The DX4WIN Calendar is updated weekly, I assume they are still coming out.

This will probably be the last update for 2011, though I may push out
an updated membership list early the week of December 18th.

Tnx for emails

Just checked my Preferences.

Worked Cutoff and Mailed Cutoff were already set to 0, User Level is
set to Expert
My 160m CW QSO with 7Z1SJ was in 15th January 2011.

If I go to Reports|Report Generator|DXCC Listing, I only found 7X Algeria
and 8P Barbados in the Prefix column. Nothing on 7Z between those two
prefixes. But, in Summary, I found the call as Worked.

I am I doing wrong in putting the new CTY files?

 Hi Jo,

I just got back from holiday.

When did you make the QSO with 7Z1SJ? Please check your preferences,
Worked Cutoff and Mailed Cutoff. Make sure both are set to 0.
This sets the number of days that something will be considered as
worked. If older than that, it is as if you never made the QSO at
all. Some people like their DXCC needed list to always be considered
NEEDED (never worked) if a QSL has not been received in a very long
 time.

[Dx4win] Error messages

2010-09-15 Thread Jo, YC0LOW
When keying CW, I sometimes had consecutive two error mesages as follows:

a. Could not open COM8 for keying:ie_Open - device already open.
and then:
b. Radio time out. Radio interface has been disabled

To restore it, I must re-open the software in my notebook. I am using
ver 8.04 with Windows 7 as the OS.
I used a homemade interface made of two pcs of transistors 2N and
two resistors 1.2k to my Icom 746Pro with cable USB 2.0 to serial that
has FTDI chipset.

Could someone help me to explain what would be the cause, please?

Hi Kostas and Dave,
Many thanks for your responses.

Dave, it happened only in the middle of the usage i.e: when the
programme is running. Booting up process is always going fine.
I never had problems whatsoever when using the software in my older

If you are talking at start up; I have seen the same sort of behaviour on 2
 PC's (Win XP and WIN7).

IN the past (XP, older PC, earlier DX4Win) I also concluded that the driver
was not installed correctly on a newly booted PC.

I still see this sometimes on my new WIN 7 laptop.  I will install the driver
at start up, which I think will provide the answer; later today.

(BTW - I am using MicroHam USBII as my rig interface)

I also have noticed this but occasionally. I believe that usb to serial
driver is not loaded so quickly because our computer are not so fast. If you
wait for a while or open another program first, there will not be a problem.

[Dx4win] DX4WIN with IC746Pro

2007-02-24 Thread Jo, YC0LOW
Hi all,
For CW use, I'd like to connect, via an interface, my DX4WIN ver 702.15 in
Toshiba notebook to straight CW key jack in the rear of Icom IC-746 Pro.

With simple interface circuit as written in its Help file, my DX4WIN worked
okay in these years with my vintage FT1000MP for CW. But, with the Icom, it
only produces 'dah'.

My notebook is running XP and has only one parallel/LPT port to use.

Please help. TIA es 73 de Jo, YC0LOW

Now, to pop the lid off the proverbial can of worms

Has anyone managed to disguise/legitimatize e.QSL's
and use them for credit via LoTW by importing them into
their logging program and then into a LoTW submission?
I --DO NOT-- approve of this or would never consider
doing so, but others may view it differently.

I know the League has gone to considerable length to avoid
accepting e.QSL's, but ... sadly... I don't see any way of
preventing it from happening, once the QSO/QSO's are
imported into your log, regardless of which program you're
using.

 Hola Josep. Felices fiestas...

ordenador (LINE IN). Posiblemente necesites alg?n circuito de adaptaci?n
entre ambos equipos, aunque yo uso los cables sin m?s y funcionan bien.

I want to tweak one of the provided Import Filters. Namely, I want to use
the N6TR2 filter, which imports native TR-Log files without RST, but I want
to include the State field.

First, I can use the built-in N6TR2 import facility -- works great, it just
doesn't import the State.

If I go to File Import, choose N6TR2, use the copy feature, then try to
use this copied filter without even changing anything... it errors out with
Error executing N6TR2

To restate, if I take a working filter, and simply copy it, the copy can't
import. What am I doing wrong?

I found this in the help file of dx4win:-

(two ampersands) will be replaced by the first word of the 'Notes for
the callsign'. Using this macro, you can print the name of the operator
 in the greeting line.

 is this what you want?

 Hey Marty,
I have this combo and it works great. I am very very happy with this
feature. Except when having a off-set for another antenna and that's a
whole
 new story.

 A) Make sure you are on EXPERT user level in the main Preferences setup
 Parameters screen.

My comm port speed is set to 9600, 8,None,1 Xon / Xoff.
My computer is set to comm port 3 on a old Gateway 2000 Win 95 486-DX 66
mhz
 machine.
I am running 2 comm ports from the computer and a serial card with 2
 comports on it.
4 total comm ports with DB-9 Radio Shack serial cables.

 Comm port check:
 1) open control panel
 2) double click system
 3) system properties click the device tab
 4) drop down the comm port string
 5) double click the comport you want it to run on
 6) click on the port setting tab check to make sure it is running at the
 above settings
 7) click the resources tab
 8) check out the i/o range 03E8 - 03EF, IRQ 09 I have my automatic
 settings checked.
 9) Re-boot the computer

 DX4Win set up:
 1) Open preferences
 2) go to the Control tab
 3) Rotor Control drop the box down and select Orion M2
 4) Comm Port drop the box down and select the comm port you want it to run
 on. (com 3)
 5) Message Handshake make sure it isThunderform.
 6) File Write INI file
 7) Save changes and exit.
 8) A re-boot of the computer may help after doing this.

I hope this helps you out Marty. This is what works for me.
Let me know. I can help on the phone too if needed.
