Re: [Dx4win] RS-44
Thank you for taking time to answer my question. I modified the .exe file replacing RS-11 with RS-44. That was unsuccessful; I think Paul has included some sort of CRC verification and therefore the file results corrupted after the patch. I can survive with putting a note in the QSO field about the satellite , not a big deal for me. I do not want to open a can of worms, but I love DX4WIN. It does everything I need and it does it very well; there are just few things I would like being added. I'm sure Paul has his reasons for not keeping the software updated (maybe we are too spoiled but some unnecessary updates pushed out too often in nowadays IT market) and I respect those reasons. 73 de Max, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) one of EL2PP, 1A0KM, JT1Y, E30GA, T77V, TT8MM, T32R, K5K, XR0X, S05X, 4O3T, BS7H, K4M, PJ7E, PJ7DX, 6Y1V, C6ANA, VP5/I8NHJ, ZF2NH, KP4/N5NHJ and... __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Re: [Dx4win] WINKEY USB and DX4WIN
Dave, you can go back and forth between 3.0 and 3.1, no problems. The 3.0 and 3.1 firmware can be download from K1EL: https://hamcrafters2.com/WinKeyer_31.html WK3tools is the only software you need to upload/update the firmware, be aware you need a specific WK3tools for the 3.1 and a different one for 3.0. From a CW stand point there is no much difference between the two version, but 3.1 enables the RTTY/FSK function that is fantastic. I hope Paul is considering to look at the code, maybe 3.0 will not be available anymore in the near future and this will push DX4WIN in a corner. -- 73 de Max, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) Thursday, May 23, 2019, 10:26:08 PM, you wrote: > Max > How do I get a copy of the earlier firmware , is it easy to install via > the USB port or is it a chip replacement? and what are the drawbacks > Dave > NR1DX > On 5/23/2019 6:06 PM, Max Mucci, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) wrote: >> Dave, >> I'm sorry for the delay, I've been busy all the day long. >> There is not any way to have the WK 3.1 working with DX4WIN, I asked Paul to >> fix this, I don't know if he is doing something. >> Only work around is to rollback/replace the current 3.1 firmware with the >> 3.0 that works. >> Let me know if you need any more help. >> Thursday, May 23, 2019, 2:42:41 PM, you wrote: >> >>> OK I found Max's post in the archive with a quoted response from K1EL >>> ...who points the finger a DX4WIN (not unexpected ...he said ..she >>> said?). I haven't seen substantial requests to modify the software and sincerely, from my user experience standpoint, what I have is still the best I can find around. [Dx4win] Solved - Win 8.1 and windows position.
Few days ago I sent out a message to the reflector regarding the position of some windows not retained after restarting the software. The issue has been solved even thought it took a while to find the solution. Let me say that I think the problem is not related to Win8.1 and, on my opinion, can show up in some other environments as well. My new computer is using an AMD RADEON 7480D video card and the relevant CATALYST management software. This manager is the same for a wide range of AMD video card, not just for the one I'm actually using. One of the countless screens of the software is titled HydraVision and inside that screen there is the Desktop manager tab. The section General Settings contains the field Enable Desktop Manager that was obviously enabled by default. Un-checking that flag solved the problem. Hope this can be useful to someone. -- 73 de Max, N5NHJ (I8NHJ) one of EL2PP, 1A0KM, JT1Y, E30GA, T77V, TT8MM, T32R, K5K, XR0X, S05X, 4O3T, BS7H, K4M, PJ7E, PJ7DX, 6Y1V, C6ANA and... Hello Everyone, The group is my last resort even though I think only Paul can solve this issue. I moved from Win7 to 8.1. I'm running 2 wide screen monitors. I was used to have dual monitors on Win7 as well, with no issue at all. Now, on this new setup, I can't be successful in having the COUNTRY, WPX, WAZ, IOTA and COUNTY windows remembering their positions on the screen. All the other windows work as expected but these. If I use 1 monitor only, all is perfect but once I revert to dual monitors, the windows are placed on the center of the screen anytime I start Dx4win. The config file can be written (it is not an administrative issue) and the flag in the preference for remembering the windows position is correctly set.
