[Dx4win] dx4win "An exception occured"

2014-04-19 Thread Michael C. Goode

When I came into the shack this morning the computer had restarted
sometime last night and had a message up that it had recovered from a
serious error.

Now when I try to restart dx4win I get the message: "an exception
occurred" "duplicate key = 1218 at line 159912"

(C:\dx4win_src\fcustawd.pas, line 227)

When I click on OK the program starts up in "demo" mode.

Obviously something has gotten corrupted. Using version 7.04.04. Any
help here?

In the meantime I will log with N1MM.

[Dx4win] Importing CT logs

2008-12-04 Thread Michael C. Goode

I worked the contest last
weekend using CT and intended to import it into my current dx4win log.
I was stunned to find CT is not in the import list.  I did some
research and apparently it was deleted from the list somewhere around
dx4win version 6 and now you must go through two conversion steps.
Anyone know why is this?  CT is still popular and there are some very
obscure logging programs still on the list.

[Dx4win] Logbook window question

2008-11-26 Thread Michael C. Goode

I like to keep the Logbook
Window open, showing about the last ten QSO's.   However whenever I
enter a new QSO, the logbook jumps back into the log and hi-lights a
previous QSO at the top of the window.  In the present (2008) log I am
currently at QSO Number 1190.  When I enter a new QSO the logbook
display shows it for a half-second then jumps back to put QSO #705
hi-lighted at the top.  Sometimes it has gone to a different QSO number
but most of the time it goes to this particular QSO.

At first I thought it might be going to the last QSO with the same
country I just entered but that is not the case.  For instance tonight
I have worked 9G5ZZ, YM3A, 4X4FC, 9G5ZZ (different band) and KH6LC for
QSO's numbers 1186 - 1190 this year.  In every case the logbook jumped
back to QSO number 705 which happens to be VP2MDD (on six meters no
less back in June).

Any thoughts on what is causing this?

[Dx4win] DXCC summary listing question

2008-11-26 Thread Michael C. Goode

When I call up a Current
Countries Summary in the "Reports" window there is one column I don't
understand.

I get columns called; Worked - Label - QSL Mailed - Confirmed - Submit
- Checked - Totals - CnfTotal.

The only columns with any numbers at this time are "Worked", "QSL
Mailed" and "Totals".  The "Totals" column always shows the sum of the
"Worked" and  "QSL Mailed" columns.  For instance in the MIX row
"Worked" shows 225 and "QSL Mailed" shows 4...so the "Totals" shows
229.  So what is the significance of this "Totals" column?  I can add
up numbers if I wanted to, but why would I want to know the total of
the other columns?  What am I missing (don't answer a few brain cells,
I know that :)  )

[Dx4win] Printing from the logbook

2008-10-29 Thread Michael C. Goode

I was wanting to see if I
could print a list of the last two days QSO's.  When I go to the
"print"  menu it asks for me to specify what range of pages I want to
print.  How do I know what page a QSO is on?  The log numbers QSO's,
could it possibly mean what QSO numbers rather than pages when it asks
for a range?  (like an old logging program I had) There is no "page"
option in the logbook fields menu.

Thanks,
Mike/N9Ns

[Dx4win] Lost QSO's

2008-10-27 Thread Michael C. Goode

I fear the program just did a
head fake on me and I fell for it.

I opened the "Reports" file for the first time to check DXCC status for
this year.  After browsing a while I clicked to close the window and
got a window ""file has been modified, save changes?"  I didn't intend
to change anything but thought maybe something got changed by accident
so I clicked no and the whole program closed!  I thought "that's
weird"  So I restarted the program and now I seem to be missing the
last 150 or so QSO'sany guesses what happened?    I am still
looking through the book, where is this automatic backup file?  I have
backup set to 2 minutes.

Thanks,

Mike/N9NS

[Dx4win] Help file problems

2008-10-23 Thread Michael C. Goode

I have problems too.  Opening
"contents" I get an error message, usually a different error number
each time.   Opening "search" nothing ever  happens..  Only opening
"about" works properly.  If I restart the program I can get help a
couple times, then not.  Running Windows XP.

Is anyone having problems using the on-line help?

I get a couple of different message boxes from Help -> Contents, the current one says:

  "Error = 10035
A non-blocking socket operation could not be completed immediately"

I never had these problems with 7.04. If I restart the program, Help will work for a bit, then stop working again.

I'm running WinXP SP3 with all subsequent updates.

[Dx4win] QSO window Label field

2008-10-17 Thread Michael C. Goode

After struggling for two or
three evenings I have finally managed to print labels.  However
somewhere in the process the label field default in the QSO window got
changed from "N" to "Y".  I have no idea how I did this and can't find
info in the book about it.  I really don't want to print a label for
every QSO, anyone got an idea how I made the change and how to change
it back?
