Why not make representation to the source directly if this issue is
perceived to be a problem. An address is listred on QRZ.

Not quite right, Jim - they are from NA Skimmers only, and for several
months now, the location where the station was heard has been appearing
in the Comment field

Actually, they do not come in as skimmer spots. CW Skimmer spots are
identified by -# at the end of the spotter callsign. I have CW
Skimmer disabled, but still get the W3LPL spots.

W3LPL has such a great antenna farm, I can't hear his spots even when
they

are from MD.

Spots arriving from W3LPL originate from CW skimmers all over the
world, not just in MD.

Re: [Dx4win] USB to parallel port

2013-08-19 Thread O

Hello Dick,

Try Google 'usb serial adapter with ftdi chip' and see what pops up in your
area. There are several at a variety of prices - others may have suggestions
with which they have had success. Was not using mine (unbranded from a UK
source but supposed to be FTDI) for DX4 but it hit a snag after a windows
update for Vista messed up the driver. Had same with the much maligned
Prolific.

Subject: [Dx4win] Bulletins?

Friends,

The DX4Win logging application was recommended to me. I'm very
pleased with it, and am looking forward to learning more about it.

A couple weeks ago, I signed up to the DX4Win Reflector. I used my
ARRL email address, but never received any of the traffic.

My (ever helpful and patient) friend Mr. Paul van der Eijk suggested
I sign up again using my direct email address. I did that, but still have
not received any traffic from the Reflector.

Maybe I don't understand how it works. Does the DX4Win Reflector
administrator email activity to members? Or does sign-up merely permit
access to the website?

Thanks a million,

Re: [Dx4win] LOTW functions

2010-10-07 Thread H. O. Townsend - K5CX
Dear /mmx -

I think you missed the whole point. However, let me say that using LoTW is
no more complicated than keeping track of your online LL Bean orders once
you sit down and use it periodically. Using once a year is not the way to
approach it. I speak from experience.

I bet most issues can be traced back to the initial log entry point, if I
understand the premise.

Kostas, et al,

Very true. LoTW is coded to be about as user-hostile as possible.
The League has a full-time help desk (manned by at least one crabby S.O.B.)
dedicated exclusively to assisting people trying to unscramble confusing
LoTW instructions.

I had asked this in past.
Writelog has a feature like this.
It is under file>export>trusted file
You write how you want to save your file and after that with a magic way
writelog reads your certificates and makes a list. You choose the right one,
you give the password (which is saved for the previous time) and voila.
Sorry to say but i think the process as it is now is more confused and most
possible to drive us in a mistake...

I purchased an Elecraft K3 with an internal 2 meter transverter recently,

Is anyone able to pick up 144 MHz spots and get immediate QSY to 2 meters

Re: [Dx4win] Not In Log

2012-11-01 Thread H. O. Townsend - K5CX
I would be cautious of the following:

As I understand the greater scheme of things stations, for example, using their
calls under reciprocal agreements from other countries should sign, for example
PJ5/N4ZZZ. Not N4ZZZ/PJ5. If you worked the station signing N4ZZZ/PJ5, and then
you entered it into your log as PJ5/N4ZZZ there will be no match in LoTW.

If I'm wrong on this someone please correct me.
