Re: [Dx4win] Move to a different computer

2010-10-24 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi

I have tried this a number of times ... and it works :)

Also if you want to syncronise the two computers - all you have to copy is
the .DXL and the .CTY file from the /SAVE directory to the new computer, and
you are up and running. Also handy for logbackup or when you use a different
computer for printing QSL labels...

ZIP up the entire directory structure.

Unzip on the new computer.

Run DX4WIN.EXE

It really *is* that simple!

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win and LoTW

2010-06-07 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi

Noticed the same difference ...

Nothing wrong with DX4Win... theres an overlap in the QSL report downloaded
from LOTW. Apprently the QSL'ed since date is rounded off to midnight. The
overlap QSO's is then reported in DX4WIN as not found / Dublicates...

Example

File 2) is downloaded 6 days after 1) :

1) FILE:Downloaded: 2010-05-10 08:55:12
ARRL Logbook of the World Status Report
Generated at 2010-05-10 08:56:21

PROGRAMID:4LoTW

2) FILE:Downloaded: 2010-05-16 21:01:11
ARRL Logbook of the World Status Report

The QSL SINCE date is rounded off to midnight in file two making all QSL
Received between 2010-05-10 00:00:00 and 2010-05-10 08:56:21 present in both

Hi Andy,

What version are you running? If version 8, then ONLY the LoTW Cnfm
box should be set to Y. QSL card Cnfm box is just for that only -
QSL cards. There is NO overlap between the Cnfm boxes for eQSL, LoTW
and paper QSL. If you use the right function to import the log
(import for LoTW or import for eQSL), then the right thing should
happen.

Can you send me your .DXL file (before the LoTW import) and the LoTW
file you are trying to import? I can try the same import here. Also
tell me what version you're running.

I looked in the DX4Win save directory I found two files the one mentioned
and another LOTWreport 01Jun10.not found. The May file has about 90 QSOs and
the June file has 32. I had not noticed anything untoward when I imported
the last report in May. I opened the two files with Notepad and checked the
existence of the QSOs in my log they are all there each one has had the
upload flag changed to N and where relevant the LOTW confirmed box changed
to Y. There are a wide variety of qsos on different dates/bands/modes. The
only other oddity is that I thought that when a QSO was confirmed by LoTW it
also set the QSL Card Confirmed to Y, none of the QSOs I have checked have
 this happen.

Can anyone tell me what has happened and what I should do about it please?

[Dx4win] APro exception

2010-05-30 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi

Using Dx4Win 8.04 with Microham's USB II interface to my K3, i get this
annoying APro exception (Win XP home)
Configuration is COM4 : CW = CTS and PTT=RTS

Normally its works - BUT if i enter Preferences in Dx4Win I get the APro
Exception when hitting save and exit. After this PTT stops working.
Only way to resolve this deadlock is to reboot the PC.

Any fix for this...?

Kind regards

Description:

CTYDIFF is a command line utility for Windows XP that compares two
log files for changes in DXCC/Entity Status of QSO's.

Both log files must be in ADI format as generated by DX4WIN ADIF

Use this utility to get an overview of the changes made to your
logfiles when using different/upgrading versions of DX4WIN.CTY

Re: [Dx4win] Changing band/mode Real-Time in QSO Windows

2010-05-02 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi Mel

To understand the problem, try the following :

1) Stop Radio
2) In QSO Window Press F9
3) Enter a callsign e.g. VE2DC (with band/mode = 160CW)
4) Now, in QSO Windows, change band/mode to 10SSB

The black Box in Country window should now jump to 10CW But the Country
Windows is no refreshed !
I have been playing around with the Entry fields in the QSO windows ... and
some generates an event that refreshes the Country window, others do not.
e.g changing the date, call, prefix generates an update event, but the Mode
and Band selections do not (as they should). This worked like a charm in
7v05 and looks like it a bug introduced in 8v03?

I'm not sure what you are tying to do Flam. DX4Win works fine here. Why
would you change band/mode in the QSO window? Do you not have a radio
connected? If you do edit a QSO, the DXCC information will be shown once
you commit the change. Ver 7 worked the same way. How can you expect to
check the DXCC status without entering a callsign

 Hi

Just upgraded to 8v03 and got everyting to work ok, however ...

when changing band or mode in the QSO window, the change is not marked
correctly in the Country Window (DXCC) ... If you type something in
 the
Call field the black square suddenly jumps to the correct place in the
matrix. This is very confusing when chasing DX, where the band/mode
 change
is stuck on a wrong band/mode...

Is there any way to change this behaviour ? The 7v05 did not have this

i entered.

I tried to restore an older .CTY file - but that made no difference...

I found the problem when trying to print labels and noticed that there where
no adress labels printed !

Manager database export looks like this:

1A0KM,30/04/1990,IK0FVC

rest of file looks ok !

 Hi Hamad,

If you want to break your QSL print job into smaller lots for safety a
better way is to use the range option when you go to print. This gives
 you
a lot more control of the size of each print job and the ability to
 recover
with less wastage if the printer jambs or something.

First rule; make a backup before you start.

Second: Don't ever say yes to changing the print flags until you are
completely satisfied you have all your cards printed.

Example: say you have 2000 cards to print, you can break this up into 20
lots of 100, use ranges 1-100, 101-200 etc. Write these out on paper
 before
you start so you can cross them off as each is completed.

Don't ever say yes to changing the print flags until you are completely
satisfied you have all your cards printed.

If your printer breaks down during a print you can do that range again,
 but
first print to screen and scroll through to find the last good label
printed, then make a note of the page number and make a new range to
complete all after that page to the end of the current range to paper.
 This
works very well when printing direct on cards as each page is one card so
you get very little wastage if you printer fails during a print.

If you don't change the print flags you can resume printing at any time if
you keep a record of where you left off.

I hope that helps and makes sense.

[Dx4win] DxWin and RTTY

2009-02-22 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi

Just trying RTTY with dx4win + mmtty for the first time. However, Im having
a problem keying the transmitter ... .
Is it possible to setup up Dx4Win to use software commands for PTT (OR via
LPT port ?).
Currently i have to change tx/rx manually :=)

Also: QSO-Special keys CW/RTTY does not seem to work in the QSO window
when working RTTY. It unchecks itself every time i hit a function key to
active a text macro.

The setup is:
COM1: WinKeyer
COM2: FT-1000MP
PC: older compaq (450MHz). WinXP.

The COM2 port interface is not fully implemented (or broken) regarding
RTS/CTS/DSR. I found this out when connecting the Winkeyer to COM2. It only
worked, when connected to COM1. Winkeyer needs theese lines for powersupply.

The radio is connected to the PC via the backpanels packet input. When
working RTTY you put the radio in packet mode.
Unfortunately, Dx4Win records this (correctly enough) as a PAC QSO when
logging. Is there any way of changing this, so RTTY is recorded ?

I have experimented with the .RIG file and and change the mode string for
PAC to the same string as RTTY. When i click on a RTYY spot on the
dxcluster window - it sets the mode on the radio to PAC. However, this is
changed the next time the PC polls the radio for information, and the QSO
mode flips back to PAC :=)

Re: [Dx4win] How do I print both QSO *and* addresses labels?

2008-09-05 Thread OZ1AXG Flam

Hi

I use the same methode, with station callsign as the manager, to be able to
enter an address label, and the QSL label ony have one station callsign for
those QSO's (i.e. NO via call added).

Re: [Dx4win] Problems with DXCC Submission List from DX4Win

2008-07-06 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
- Original Message -
From: Jeff Maass [EMAIL PROTECTED]

expected credits for my current DXCC levels (Mixed, CW, Phone, and 160m).

For example, for 'PY0S', I have DXCC credit for PY0ZSA (SSB)and PY0ZSC
(CW) QSOs in 1982.
The new submission list wants me to claim credit for two QSOs (SSB, CW)
with PW0S in 2001.
All of the QSO entries identify the country Prefix the same, so they are
known by DX4Win
to tbe the same country.

Hi Jeff

Depending on your application (e.g. in 1982) arrl may not have information
on band and mode for previous credited QSO's, and the card must be
re-submitted.

e.g. from my dxcc mixed application in 1982 mode/band is not on the
application form. Same for older 5BDXCC applications where cards also must
be re-submitted

Could this be the case ?

[Dx4win] WinKey settings from DX4WIN

2008-05-02 Thread OZ1AXG Flam

Hi

I put together a Winkeyer2 (as previouslly recommended by this group) and
got it working today ...

The WinKeyer - I build - has no stand alone possibility... I only
connected the serial COM port and a linie out for the radio. Thats it.

However the speed control from within DX4WIN have range of 5-255 (the keyer
only supports 5-99) and i can only set the speed in increments/decrements of
5 WPM from the CW keyboard window using + / - !

How do i change this to 1 WPM steps and the correct range of 5-99 ?

[Dx4win] CPU Usage

2008-03-05 Thread OZ1AXG Flam
Hi

I have installed Dx4Win on a fresh WinXP installation, trimmed it for max
performance. Hardware is a Compaq 550MHz with 640MB RAM

Using Dx4win transmitting CW, the CPU is around 80-90% of the time. If it
so happens that the Dx cluster receives a spot or two you can hear that the
timing of dot and dashes is messed up. Listning on the air, you can easy
hear other stations where the CW has the same funny timing - problerly
using Dx4Win :=)

I would suggest that this issue be looked into, and a possible solution
worked out.

Regards OZ1AXG Flam

- Original Message - Bernie,

It happens here, too. If I am transmitting RTTY when the CW spot comes,
it will slow down dramatically and possibly spoil the QSO. Otherwise I
have not noticed any ill effects.

Thus, if new entities are added to the country file, or prefix mappings
 change,
these changes will NOT be merged into your existing country file.
