[Dx4win] Multiple monitor problem

2009-06-30 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
Help...I've lost the main toolbar for DX4WIN, the one that allows you to
open a file, start/stop a radio and so-forth. It's off the screen on the 2nd
monitor and everything I try to make it come into view doesn't work. I've
tried all of the XP Pro Microsoft suggestions but none have solved the
problem.

Is there a setting in the INI file to set that window's position? I don't
see one but something has to provide a position setting for the toolbar.

Any ideas??

[Dx4win] DX4WIN QSL manager correction

2004-07-26 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
In some versions of the QSL Manager database I am listed as the QSL manager
for FP/K9OT and FP/KB9LIE that is not correct! QSLs should be sent to them
via their home call or via the bureau. Sending cards to me only slows down
the return process.

Thanks and look for me as FP/NN9K in September, http://nn9k.home.mchsi.com.

[Dx4win] Orion timeouts with DX4WIN?

2004-01-07 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
I do not see timeouts but at times slow response in the DX4WIN program. I
don't use the keyboard for sending CW but prefer to do it myself. However at
times I do see some delay moving from item to item on the QSO window.

My system is Window 98 running on a 400 Meg machine with 128 Meg of ram. The
only other program running id DXTelnet and of course the usual Windows
system stuff including Ethernet support.

I hate to be picky but in a network or connectivity environment when
something times out it cease to function. As I said in my first sentence I
think we are seeing slow response from the operating system and possibly the
DX4WIN program. Most logging programs were not originally written to support
a 57.6Kb communications speed and my suspicion this is where the problem
lies. Obviously the OS can handle 10Mb or 100Mb Ethernet connectivity but
quite possibly the two in conjunction are causing the delays in the program.

 Just my thoughts!

Subject: [Dx4win] Orion timeouts with DX4WIN?

A friend who had just received an Orion has found difficulties with
DX4WIN as follows:

1. Sometimes when sending CW from the DX4WIN keyboard, he sees long
delays (1-2 seconds) before sending commences. It never stutters once it
starts, but occasionally hesitates.

2. If he sets Retries to 1 on the poll setting, the radio times out
almost immediately, even with 10 second polling intervals. If retries is
set to 2, then it seems to operate OK - has anyone experienced timeouts
with the Orion / DX4WIN?

He has all the interface settings set at the TT specified values.

Tnx in advance for any help,
73, Duane

[Dx4win] Newbie questions

2003-01-09 Thread Peter E. Beedlow
Ken-Dubuque shows in my worked listing. I have run into a problem where a
county doesn't get recorded when entered because of a spelling error. Really
need an error message if something is entered that doesn't match the
database for that particular field.

Subject: [Dx4win] Newbie questions

Hello All,

I have version 5.03, and I'm at 2100 Q's out of about 12K
to be manually entered.

I've just discovered that my first QSO with Dubuque County
Iowa does not show up in the list of counties worked. The QSO
-IS- in the log and it shows up when I search for Dubuque in the
County field. With about 590 counties now worked, I'm now
wondering if there are others that have also failed to show in the
list. I REALLY don't want to go back and audit 2100 entries to
see if EACH new one has shown up as I've entered it. Someone
please see if your Dubuque county QSO appears in YOUR list
of counties worked.

It would be helpful to have the ability to enter Independent City
in the County field for those states that have these ... VA and
MO, for example. Why? Since there isn't (yet) a City field
one could search VA and Independent City for QSO's that
could be claimed for one of the needed adjacent counties.

A City field would be most helpful. In my span of 51 years
of operating I have many QSO's with stations that have been
located in different places and if I understand correctly these
must be noted in the Notes for this QSO field and NOT in the
Notes for this call. I accidentally found that a Notes ... call
entry for Bill - Podunk will be changed in all my QSO's with
Bill when I log him at his new location as Bill - Hamville.
I should have been entering all the 2100 locations in the Notes ...
QSO field ... correct?

I've run across numerous cases of spelling conflicts with 'boro
and 'borough as they appear un the US Postal Directory. The
Postal Directory spelling should be the correct one.

The CA Yuma / Yuba County error has been noted before.

How do we know when there is a update available as these
little glitches get fixed and how do I get the update?
