Re: [Dx4win] DXCC QSL Download - New?
Hi all, This was posted about 6 months ago. Is there a utility that will compare the DX4WIN DXCC award status with the information in the mentioned DXCC QSL file? Is there any interest in such a utility? I'm willing to take a stab at it but don't want to expend the time if no one cares about the feature! I have already written a program that reads the DXCC QSLs.ADI file and creates a .CSV file with (I think) the same information but in a easier to read (at least to me) format. For instance, it has separate columns for each entry in the APP_LoTW_CREDIT_GRANTED field. If you are interested, I can send you a partial .CSV file so you can see if format/layout is useful to you or not. Without thinking on it too much yet, I'm thinking the program would have a "audit" mode where it would tell you about differences between your log (the .DXQ file created via DX4WIN's Export feature) and the DXCC QSL file. It would also indicate what it could change in the DX4WIN log file based upon information in the DXCC QSL file. Once you see what it "could" do via the audit, you could then run the program again in "update" mode to have it update the log file for real. 73, Lee N7NU >>> 11/07/13 9:45 AM >>> Hello I´ve just noticed today that there is a new menu option on the LOTW account status page It reads "DXCC QSL Download" Also at the bottom of the righ hand box there is a new bullet: * For an ADIF download with the details of all QSLs in your DXCC record use DXCC QSL DOWNLOAD [https://lotw.arrl.org/lotwuser/logbook/qslcards.php?ac_acct=1]. Re: [Dx4win] DXCC QSL Download - New?
My apologies for not having responded to this thread, or to Jim's mention of my LoTW-to-DX4Win Awards utility. Somehow I missed reading this entire thread, but Bill W8NN asked me this morning if I would post a comment. Jim AD1C said: Larry K8UT wrote a utility which *can* set the DXCC flags in DX4WIN... While true, the utility was written long before LoTW released the QSL Download Report. The utility is difficult to use; requires installing DXLabs software; and takes forever to run. BUT - it does contain all of the programming logic and the ADIF interface syntax to update DX4Win's Award charts. The front-end (reading ARRL's data through DXLabs) needs to change. The back-end (making decisions and updating DX4Win, which was the hardest part to code) is still valid. If there is strong interest in the DX4Win community I can rewrite the app as a single-step process based on the new ARRL report. Or, if someone out there wants to work forward from my project source code (Visual Studio VB2010), I would be happy to share it with them. -larry (K8UT) -Original Message- From: Jim Reisert AD1C Sent: Wednesday, November 13, 2013 5:35 PM To: DX4WIN Reflector Subject: Re: [Dx4win] DXCC QSL Download - New? Re: [Dx4win] DXCC QSL Download - New?
Hi Dan, Thanks' for that but DXCC QSL file we are referring to is a recent initiative by ARRL on LoTW and is not referred to in the application notes on Jim's page. At this point in time I realise having support for making use of this file and automatically importing the award information within DX4WIN is probably not going to happen, Paul? This would be a seriously cool addition to DX4WIN. While the ADIF file is readily readable it's not very user friendly for a person to use as a source to manually enter the useful DXCC award information back into DX4WIN. Is there someone who would be willing to write some sort of GUI that would make reading the file and inputting the information manually into DX4WIN easier. In my case I have nearly 2400 entries to make. 73 John ZL1BYZ. -Original Message- From: Dan Violette [mailto:dank...@socal.rr.com] Sent: Saturday, 9 November 2013 15:37 To: 'John Shaw'; dx4win@mailman.qth.net Subject: RE: [Dx4win] DXCC QSL Download - New?
