Re: [Dx4win] Elecraft K3 Radio Interface problem.

2012-05-10 Thread n4dsp
Joe and Bud,
your suggestions solved my problem. Changed those settings and dx4win has
been running for the last 8 hours without any issues. In addition to that
later in the evening I also changed the default of the
File/Preferences/Radio/Baud Rate from the default of 4800 to 38400 and did
the same in the Config Menu of the K3.
Thanks for your help.

I addition to what Bud has suggested, right click on the Computer icon,
Select Properties, click on Device Manager, Open Universal Serial
Bus controllers, select *each* USB Root Hub and Generic USB Hub
entry, select the Power Management tab and *uncheck* the box marked
Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

 Hi John,

Your computer may be putting the USB port to sleep. In Windows 7 try
 this:

Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Power Options. Next to Recommended
Settings, select Change Plan Settings. Then click Change Advanced Power
Settings. Click the + next to USB Settings. Click the + next to USB
Selective Suspend Setting. If you click on the Setting: Enable, you will
get a drop down box that allows you to change it to Disable.

I hope that solves your problem.

[Dx4win] Elecraft K3 Radio Interface problem.

2012-05-09 Thread n4dsp
Less than a week ago I downloaded version 8.04 and installed the license.
Excellent service by Paul. Once I placed the order on sunday I had the key
within 2 hours!

My interface cable is the Elecraft KUSB to Serial with FTDI chipset. Downloaded
and installed the cdm driver. There are a couple of issues with it. The main
one is the radio and computer will communicate but after 30 minutes of non
activity an error message will display stating Radio timed out. Radio
Interface has been disabled. I click on the OK Button and the Error Message
window does not close and manually cannot enter any data in the qso window or
any window while this window stays open. In order for the window to disappear
and the radio interface to work properly again the USB cable has to be
disconnected from the front computer port and reconnected. This occurs half
dozen or more times per day.

Radio Setup Parameters are:

Type Elecraft K3
Baud 4800
Com Port Com3
Poll Rate300
Max tries6
DTR Unchecked
RTS Unchecked

The K3 baud rate in the menu is set for 4800.

Any suggestions?

tnx
