[Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs
Hi, In my DX4WIN I have different Group numbers allocated for my Home and Portable operations. During these operations I open DX4WIN and enter the group number related to my current Home or Portable location, and only then I start logging my QSOs, and all is OK. BUT: I have created different WSJTX instances with different FT8 logs, each one related to my different QRA locator. They are stored in different folders, so when importing them, I'd like that each of them gets logged in DX4WIN under the related Group name used for this location. When importing Home FT8 QSOs log, I selected Group 1 and the log contacts now appear in my Home Group1 window. Then, before importing the FT8 log made on one of my portable locations, I have set DX4WIN window to Group 2. After importing FT8 log, I found it's QSO-s appear under Group 1 !??? 1. Am I missing something during the import procedure? How to get them allocated to the Group2 during Import? 2. Once they were imported and appear in the Goup1, how to move them to a group 2 ??? I have sent this question to the Reflector, but it was rejected because I enclosed some screen shots that number of bytes exceeded the number allowed by the Reflector. 73, Radi f6gnz __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs
Hi Radi, 1. I can think of two ways to import into the correct group. First, you can change the default Group number in DX4WIN. Go to Preferences, QSO tab and then change the group number in the upper right corner. I think this will work. Be careful to change the default group number back to the correct number once you are finished with a given import. Second, the best and probably safest way is to download the ADIF to DX4WIN converter, a small app written by Jim, AD1C. When converting an adif file into DX4WIN Version 9 format, you have the option with his little app to insert a group number as selected on the input screen of the app. I use this feature all the time when importing QSOs from N1MM. 2. I cannot think of a way to easily change QSOs from Group 2 that were imported into Group 1. The only way that I can think of is to change the group number manually one QSO at a time. Not fun. The only other way is delete all QSOs for group 1 and recreate group 1 by importing the QSOs from other log source or sources if you have them--and designating the correct group number. I would do a backup before attempting to recreate a group. Be extra careful. I would highly recommend using Jim's ADIF to DX4WIN converter for assigning group numbers in the future. As you may know, there are a lot of advantages to using the group functions within DX4WIN. I keep the logs for all my DX-peditions within on master log -- separated by different group numbers. I also store QSOs from two different KY locations by different group numbers. By doing that, I can import LOTW confirmations for all of my callsigns with one file from the ARRL. I can also see all the QSOs with a given station from all of my expeditions when viewing the Same Call window. This is a very powerful and handy feature of DX4WIN. 73, Dave, N4QS -Original Message- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net On Behalf Of Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN Sent: Monday, April 5, 2021 6:33 AM To: DX4WIN Refelector Subject: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs Hi, In my DX4WIN I have different Group numbers allocated for my Home and Portable operations. Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs
Hi Radi, First, make a backup copy of your log the way it is now (just in case a "fix" goes wrong). Were the FT8 imported contest QSOs the only activity for that day? (Were all the FT8 QSOs in a date range where you had no contacts outside the contest?) If so you should be able to create a filter specifying the date range and then doing a "QSO -> Multiple QSOs operation -> set group number". It will give you a count of how many QSOs are selected before you enter the group number. Then enter the group number you want the imported contest QSOs to be moved into. If that wouldn't work, 1) Create a new log (.DXL) file. 2) Import the original FT8 QSOs into it. 3) Click "QSO -> Multiple QSOs operation -> set group number" to that of the group where you want them assigned to. 4) Click "File -> Import/Export -> (the highest DX4WINx version available in your version of DX4WIN - probably 8 or 9) 5) Then click File -> Export 6) Navigate to a location for the exported file (remember where it is!) 7) Close and save the new .DXL file 8) Open the log (.DXL) file where the FT8 QSOs are in the wrong group. 9) Click File -> Import/Export -> Import -> DX4WINx (that you exported to) -> File -> Import 10) Hit down arrow and select the item "Import QSO replaces existing QSO (SLOW)" 11) Click "OK" (to start the import). It will give a summary of counts 12) Look at some of the imported FT8 QSOs that had the wrong group before (Group 1) and verify they have been fixed! 13) Save the file ONLY AFTER you verify the import worked as you wanted. Please let me/us know if it worked or not. 73, Lee N7NU On Mon, Apr 5, 2021 at 6:31 AM David Perry, N4QS wrote: > Hi Radi, > > 1. I can think of two ways to import into the correct group. Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs
Radi, Set a filter that matches the QSOs you want to change. QSO Window | QSO | Multiple QSOs Operations | Set Group Number Always keep a safe copy of your log before making such changes. --Paul On Mon, Apr 5, 2021 at 7:33 AM Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ via DX4WIN < dx4win@mailman.qth.net> wrote: > Hi, > In my DX4WIN I have different Group numbers allocated for my Home and > Portable operations. Re: [Dx4win] Importing different FT8 logs
Hello Paul, Thank you for the clue. It worked FB for several QSY date periods wrongly logged as Home operations! Procedure: 1. From Google calendar found vacation dates inHyeres (My Group 2 QSY operations) 2. Filter|Selection 3. Click ADD: type Hyeres in Currentselection 4. Click 2 times on 001 and 002 toselect Home and Hyeres 5. Check Group and date filter boxes 6. Enter date filter 12/07/2018-25/09/2018 7. Update 8. OK: log window shows QSOs from selected period 9. QSO Window | QSO |Multiple QSOs Operations | Set Group Number: “45 QSOs were changed” 10. All these QSOs nowallocated to Hyeres Group 2 !!! 11. Save As: NEWf6gnz.dxl 12. Repeat above for other QSY date periods and re-save 13. Check if number of QSOs are same in Old and New log 14. Save As: f6gnz.dxl Best 73 and thanks again, Radi, f6gnz Le lundi 5 avril 2021, 23:18:19 UTC+2, Paul van der Eijk a écrit : Radi, Set a filter that matches the QSOs you want to change.
