[Dx4win] Keying Issues-Voltage Comparisons

2010-02-01 Thread Hugh Valentine
GUY,and others,
I just finished measuring some voltages around the Keying transistor 2n, 1K
resistor, and Pin 4 of USB serial plug. Key Up and Tune.

Computer: Brand new HP Pavillion Vista 64 bit. Triplett Model 60 Volt-Ohm
meter.
Voltages measured against Ground(Pin 5) of Serial Line out of computer.
Prolific USB/Serial-latest software to include Win Vista.

I measured running N1MM Logger program and also DX4WIN Ver 8.03
**
Key UP..
N1MM(which keys rig perfectly):
Pin 4 -6.6V Transistor Input -6.6V Transistor Output 0. V

DX4WIN
Pin 4 -6.6V Transistor Input -6.6V Transistor Output 0. V

^^^
KEY DOWN...
N1MM Used both sending CW and TUNE
Pin 4 +6. V Transistor Input +0.7V Transistor Output 0 Volts and
Transistor is shorted to ground and keys rig.

DX4WIN( Hit F1 on Keying Tab sending CQ)
Pin 4 +6. V Transistor Input +0.7V Transistor Output 0 Volts and transistor
is shorted to ground but does not send CW-It is continuous even though the
keyer is sending/showing CQ CQ DE N4RJ, etc...
-
Using COM 4 4800 8 n 1 Under DX4WIN prefs, COM4, CW, None(for PTT)
it doesnt matter if the radio is on or off, or any other variables are changed.
 it still keys continuous.

Obviously the keying circuit is satisfactory. Something in DX4WIN is telling
something in the computer to hold that keying circuit in a continuously keyed
state. The open voltages are identical, the closed voltages are identical. It
just doesnt go high and low in DX4WIN.

Any ideas?

[Dx4win] Keying Issues

2010-02-01 Thread Hugh Valentine
If possible, could those having the Key lock down on Ver 8.03 measure the
voltages on either side of the keying Transistor, both Key up and during lock
down?
Please report this if you can.
I am going to change resistance values associated with the resistor to see if
this changes things.

Thanks,
Val

[Dx4win] Keying Issues

2010-02-01 Thread Wayne King
My DX4WIN has a cw keying issue:

It will not send cw via the com ports in ver 8.03 at all. Just a keyed
carrier. But when I try cw in ver. 7.04, cw via the com ports, cw is running
as it should. I wonder what is missing in 8.03 verses 7.04

I have tried this many time over uninstalling 8.03 and re-installing it.
Same thing happens
My rig is a Tentec Omni VI+. However as stated before it is fine with ver
7.04
My 2nd rig is an Orion II. When I used the LPT keying support the Omni VI
keys correctly but the Orion sends garbage.
I tried the reverse option and then the Orion sends correctly and the Omni
VI sends garbage.
Go figure. This is with LPT keying

So I uninstalled the LPT driver. I hate when something is supposed to work
and it does not. Must be something with the code or rig driver file

Is there a patch for this or an upgrade in the next ver.?

[Dx4win] Keying Issues with MMTTY via DX4WIN

2006-08-20 Thread Karl Oyster, K1KO
Hi...

Wonder if anyone could point me the correct direction to solve this problem.

I recently got a microkeyer and everything is working pretty well. Only
problem has to do with trying to get the mmtty "interface" in DX4WIN to work
properly. I have, to the best of my understanding, got all the parameters set
correctly, and I can use MMTTY by itself without any difficulty, via the
microkeyer. When I try to use DX4WIN with the RTTY "interface," the radio goes
into the transmit mode and remains that way until it is turned off. There is
no "diddling" of the RTTY signal, just a solid tone as though it were CW
keydown.

Thanks, in advance,

Karl, K1KO (Virginia Beach, VA)

I got the help I needed, thanks. I only broke a couple of things.

Now to correct the errors.

I'll put out a full release later this week.

I've covered this on the reflector before:

If this works, maybe I need to put a note on my web page.

Subject: [Dx4win] MMTTY and DX4Win
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello all.

I do not use MMTTY at all - I use MixW for all digital activity.

Nonetheless, I would like to set up and test MMTTY within DX4Win, simply
to see how it all works.

I have downloaded MMTTY to my Program Files, and within DX4Win
File/Preferences/RTTY, I have None in the 'Type' box, and C:\Program
Files\MMTTY.Exe in the 'MMTTY Executable' box.

When I try to open MMTTY from within DX4Win, a MMTTY window (what looks
like the receive and transmit windows) come up on screen, but I then get
a message that states 'MMTTY could not be opened'. And that's all. I
simply cannot get the program to work.

Is there someone who could, step by step, show me the error of my ways.
Perhaps show me where a step by step set up routine may be available.

Any/all help appreciated.
