It's a reminder of how log D4W has been around. There are still a few 
artifacts of an earlier age in the way D4W works.

It reminds me of the first time I saw a PC with sound. I was very 
impressed... it was an Apple! Must have been in the early nineties which 
is probably when Paul wrote the CW routine ;-)

Not sure how this works, Hugh.  I have never heard of DX4WIN
generating a sidetone.   I'm copying the reflector.

enclosure. This is NOT connected to the sound card... it is a simple 
programmable beeper dating back to the earliest PCs and is used, for 
example, to issue POST BIOS warnings.

If you are not hearing the CW your PC speaker may not be connected... or 
perhaps your PC doesn't even have one.

I have suggested to Paul (a long time ago) that he consider supporting
