Estimating Bird Flight Height

2006-08-10 Thread Greg Forcey
I am evaluting potential bird mortality on a prospective wind turbine
lcoation in the southeast U.S. One way I'm evaluting potential impacts is by
estimating the flight height of birds specific to the area and determining
how many birds would be flying within the rotor swept zone of the turbines.
Has anyone come up with a good technique for estimating bird flight height
in the field? This would be done in orchard habitat with small trees planted
in rows. Thanks for any information.
