[ECOLOG-L] Wildlife Ethics and Human Dimensions Course advice

2018-06-19 Thread Tamara L. Johnstone-Yellin
Good morning,
I am teaching a wildlife ethics course in the fall. I have taught it in the
past with a
philosophy professor for a short 3 week course but this is the first time I'll
be covering it
solo for a full semester. The course is no longer designated as a philosophy
course, just
environmental science, therefore I won't have as much philosophical content
other than
general frameworks. I would appreciate any advice, ideas, or shared syllabi
anyone could
provide.
Thanks in advance,
Tamara Johnstone-Yellin, Associate Professor at Bridgewater College

[ECOLOG-L] Examples of the body as a biome

2015-08-27 Thread Tamara L. Johnstone-Yellin
Good afternoon,
I teach general ecology at a small liberal arts college. This is a core
requirement for the major but many students are on the pre-health track
(MD/DO, DVM, PA, RN, NP, PT) and often cannot see the value in learning
ecology. I'm trying to incorporate more examples and case studies that
apply ecological principles to the human biome. If you have any such
cases, papers, examples, etc. that you could send along to me I would be
grateful!
