Re: [Ekiga-list] Compile Problem

2008-12-30 Thread Fabrice ALPHONSO
Hi guys,
a quick mail to say I successfully compiled ekiga 3.0.1 on my OpenSUSE
11.1 (x86_64 version) at work past afternoon.
just using the sources tarballs provided at www.ekiga.org
I used standard ./configure command the only noticable thing is that I
had to provide --libdir=/usr/lib64 explicitelly.

I'll resend a mail tomorrow with the exact ./configure command I used
when I'll be back at work.

Fabrice

I don't see what this question has to do with ekiga ?
Perhaps asking this on the gftp mailing list would be more accurate
At least it would certainly bring to you more answer about your

I imagine that for installing ekiga-snapshot you also had to install
ptlib and opal related packages. Are you sure that when you unsinstalled
ekiga-snapshot you also cleaned everything related to ptlib and opal end
reinstalled the correct version for those dependencies of ekiga version
2.0.12 ?

This repository wasn't updated since long and we are in the process of
providing a new platform for snapshots packages.
For now the debian repository isn't configured on the new machine. We'll

YOU REALLY SHOULDN'T FAKE THE TEST FOR PWLIB !
If you want Ekiga SVN, you MUST have pwlib (now ptlib btw) and oapl from
the
svn checkout as said on the wiki page i gave you the link before.
Just follow the wiki page to compile everything from svn (adapting it to
FreeBSD).

Hi Matthias,
as far as I know, the snapshots are not anymore generated.
The way you can have svn checkout is to follow the instructions from the

You can have several accounts of differents SIP or H323 providers to
which you can be subscribed at the same time.
But there is only one you have as "preferred" and thru which all your
call will by default pass except if in the URL field you specify
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

for example you subscribed an account to ekiga.net an account to
SIP1_provider and SIP2_provider.

if your default account is ekiga.net, if you just call "sip:500"
the call will be interpreted as "sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]".
if you wanted to call the user 500 from the provider SIP1_provider you
should have explicitely had to write "sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED]" in the URL
field.

So Damien's question was how to display efficiently the information you
request for for someone who has dozen of accounts. All the accounts can
be registered at the same time. So which one displaying ?
All ? would give an awfull GUI, wouldn't it ?

My proposal was, thus, only the default one.

As far as i can see on my own 7.10, ekiga's version provided by ubuntu
repositories is 2.0.11, so there is a new version released since as the
current stable ekiga is 2.0.12.
you can find the sources on ekiga's website ( http://www.ekiga.org/
section download ). There was a time when we were able to provide
packages for several distributions, but it seems that the process to
build them is for now broken. You certainly should wait for official
ubuntu packages.
However if ekiga was installed thru the usual installing procedure in
your Ubuntu 7.10, all dependancies should have been satisfied.
So if ekiga is not starting there should be another cause.
Is there a popup window with an error message when you try to start
ekiga ?
If you launch it from inside a terminal, is there an error apparing on
it ?

perhaps a look to this page can help you,

despite it is written for the historical "pc-to-phone provider" ekiga's

Re: [Ekiga-list] [FEATURE REQUEST]

I understand.
Either it is just to see what is just to show the default account
subscribed, and in this case that would mean just display, for example
in the dialpad panel a line with "Default subsc. account : MyAccount".
Either it is a way of choosing with what account you want to call and in
that case it could be a dropdown list wiht the default one per default,
still in the dialpad view.

But I admit I didn't clearly understand what was the request at first
mail.

Oops...

this was the config that i had at my father's place, which isn't used
since some times, but used to work before.

So you mean, that a single line
DNAT:debug:GM net loc:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX udp 5000:5100
would be enough ?

here are the rules I have in my /etc/shorewall/rules file:

DNAT:debug:GM net loc:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX tcp 1720
DNAT:debug:GM net loc:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX udp 5000:5016
DNAT:debug:GM net loc:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX udp 5020:5023
DNAT:debug:GM net loc:XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX udp 5060:5100

on my gateway, and where XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is the IP of my inLAN PC where
ekiga is running.

Hi Chuckk,

I think that you should provide more verbose output to get some help.
I know it isn't easy at first but following those advices given here :
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Debugging_Ekiga#How_to_get_a_debug_output_from_Ekiga
and here :
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Debugging_Ekiga#How_to_send_us_a_backtrace_from_a_crash
would permit other knowledgeable people to help you more successfully.

Hope that helps,

I would say, definitively a driver problem, not really an ekiga one.

3 min of search on the mailing list's archives gave me this, for an
explanation :
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/ekiga-list/2007-November/msg00212.html

after some more search on this mailing-list , a part of the solution
could be :

http://mxhaard.free.fr/

but i don't find it so easy

As the "only one quarter of video" subject comes to this mailing list
"rather" often couldn't it a bit more explicitely shown on the wiki ? or
did i miss a link somewhere ?

I think I remember about a migic command line to execute with a quickcam
utility coming with the webcam's driver.. but cannot find it anymore,
perhaps someone else will.

Hope that helps somehow

cheers,

As advertised on the relevant wiki page at :
http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Internet_ports_used_by_Ekiga
the open ports you need are :
for SIP: 5000-5100/UDP with listen port 5060
and
for H323: 1720/tcp and 5000-5100/UDP (3-30010 are only needed if you
want to talk with users using the OLD and DEPRECATED Netmeeting on MS
Windows)

Ubuntu Edgy only provides ekiga-2.0.3, so I checked on www.ekiga.org in
download section if we (...mainly our package guru, aka Kilian, is...)
are providing 2.0.5 packages for edgy, as I know he provides
svn-snapshots for this flavour of ubuntu, and saw that only packages for
fedora, opensuse and sources are advertised here.
Kilian, are you building packages for latest flavour for stable release
too, or just svn-snapshot ?
Wouldn't it make sense to provide packages for at least the stable and
(perhaps devel) version of the four or five main distros (not wanting to
be exhaustive or hurting someone who will use another distro than the
one I will talk about here and thinks his distro is a main distro), eg
ubuntu, debian,(open)SUSE, Fedora, Mandrake, if those ones don't follow
in time with our latest release ?(provided that some people provide us
the builds/packages if needed, as part of the "Let's spread Ekiga: call
for volunteers" "project")

http://l10n.gnome.org/module/ekiga shows that for branch gnome-2.14 (the
stable branch for version 2.0.5, the latest, and upcoming 2.0.6) polish
translation for ekiga's UI is up-to-date (100%).
However, it seems that the User guide would need some love ;-)

About the HEAD branch polish translation is around 89% done.
The po file shows :
Last-Translator: Wojciech Kapusta <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
but as we all know CVS/SVN is changing very fast and is not in string
freeze so strings are supposed to be able to change.

Hope that answers your question.

Did you try to run gconf-editor and see if the key
"/apps/ekiga/general/user_interface/start_hidden is active" ? (there
should be a way to display that pair key/value from CLI, but I don't
remember it)
If yes either deactivate it, either try to check if your notfication
area is still active in your panel.

Hi Ray,
I take note of your remark about the french translation and will see
what I can do about that.
The problem is that this is a ponctual problem with diamondcard
registration to ask about PIN number and not really the password.
and the word "password" is used too in english, and changing it to PIN
would lead to an error for the usual case.

Don't really know if I am clear.

If i remember correctly i think there is problem with the pwc kernel
module provided with ubuntu (and perhaps some other distributions).
A solution is to recompile the pwc module from source.
This was suggested in a mail to this mailing-list in October :
