[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Report

2021-11-14 Thread kevin

Good Evening,

Conditions were so so on twenty meters, better on forty.  QSB was
mild all around with some storm noise.  Winter is here.  Gloom season in
the Pacific Northwest, a sodden California, with reports of snow in the
Upper Midwest.  Even Georgia reported a frosty 55 F.  Propagation on
forty meters changed during the net, but was still good at the end.  I
will keep this net time until sunset forces a change.

  On 14050.5 kHz at 2300z:

NO8V - John - MI

W0CZ - Ken - ND

K0DTJ - Brian - CA

K4JPN - Steve - GA

  On 7047.5 kHz at 0016 to 0048z:

K6PJV - Dale - CA

W0CZ - Ken - ND

KG7V - Marv - WA

W9BZ - Lowell - IN

K0DTJ - Brian - CA

W8OV - Dave - TX

KC0EMO - Kevin - IA

  Until next week 73,

  Kevin.  KD5ONS

Re: [Elecraft] 80M Elecraft SSB net

2021-11-14 Thread Dave New
Well, we had one check in this evening, besides myself. Steve, WM6P,
said that he could barely copy me, so perhaps the propagation was off,
and of course, we tried changing the UTC time which may have confused
some. I have a standing conflict at 8pm local time on a local 2 meter
repeater ARPSC net, so I'd prefer to keep this net at 9PM ET, summer
time or not.

I guess we'll see. Opinions, options?

Here is the checking roster for this evening:

WM6P Steve K3s KPA1500
N8SBE Dave K3s KPA500 Net control

73,

-- Dave, N8SBE

Quoting Dave New :

Fellow Elecrafters,

After the recent time change, we found that when attempting to meet
at 0100 UTC, which now comes out to 8pm EST, there were several
other nets running on and around our chosen net frequency of 3775 kHz.

I listened until after 9pm EST, which was our normal time during
daylight time, and the frequency was clear, as we have experienced
this past summer.

So, let's all try meeting this evening (Sunday local) at 0200 UTC,
which will come out to 9pm EST/6pm PST.

See you on 3775 kHz, USB!

73,

-- Dave, N8SBE

[Elecraft] 80M Elecraft SSB net time change!!

2021-11-14 Thread Dave New

Fellow Elecrafters,

After the recent time change, we found that when attempting to meet at
0100 UTC, which now comes out to 8pm EST, there were several other
nets running on and around our chosen net frequency of 3775 kHz.

Re: [Elecraft] K3s not transmitting AFSK

2021-11-14 Thread Mike Dodd

It's all working now, and I can't explain why.

Rich VE3KI sent me a suggestion off-list to try the Windows 10 Sound
Control Panel.

The ONLY thing I did there was select the USB CODEC, check that the
playback level was not 0, and click the Test Device button. That
produced a few tones, and the K3 produced 100W into a dummy load in the
DATA mode, just as it should.

I launched N1MM with the Digital window open, and pressing F4 sent my
call, and the K3 again produced RF.

So I switched back to the Carolina Windom antenna and worked LA1TV on
15M with the KPA500 pumping out 300W.

Bottom line: The K3 was not producing RF in DATA mode when I started
this morning, then produced RF after I tested the USB CODEC in Sound
Control Panel. I have no clue why.

Thanks again to everyone who offered advice.

Probably Kenwood, since early on Elecraft adopted Kenwood protocol.

That info is posted on this list weekly. Here is the notice that came in
for today's CW nets:

14050 kHz at 2300z Sunday (3 PM PST Sunday)
7047 kHz at 0030z Monday (4:30 PM PST Sunday)

I don't have the SSB net info at hand.
